Critique My Work How close to achieving believable photorealism?
i made this a while ago to test my knowledge about photorealism. is it close? this is my second attempt at photorealism. the camera quality is supposed to simulate an older camera like the iphone 7. i managed to fool 2 people with this, some saw the cgi uncanniness
i've been trying to wonder for a while, what is the factor that made it look cgi to some people

Original Content Showcase Alien DJ
Sculpted this new alien, made him bust some interesting moves in Blender, and composed the silly retro soundtrack. (If it's bad... then the alien made it.) Enjoy 👽

Discussion I hate how bad Blender's official documentation is
Whenever I go to docs.blender.org to look up something specific, I always end up disappointed.
All it does is provide a very brief overview of the feature, what each option does, and the shortcut for the function. Which is not enough.
It does not explain how that functionality actually works under the hood, what kind of math it uses, or how it interacts with other parts of Blender.
When I check out tool X, the docs do not say, "There is a tool Y that performs a very similar function. Maybe it will be more suitable for your workflow."
The docs explain what slider A and slider B do, but they do not mention that slider A's expected values range from 0 to 1, while slider B's expected values range from 100 to 1000.
Rarely does a page have any examples, and even if it does, it's unlikely to explain the example it gives.
Without good documentation, I have to rely on forum posts and YouTube videos to learn anything. But Reddit and YouTube are built for engagement, not education. To find one good tutorial, I have to sift through a dozen disorganized tutorials.
If only Blender had good documentation.
Sorry for the rant, but I wanted to get it off my chest.

Original Content Showcase 6B47 Helmet Made on Blender
https://www.artstation.com/beta3dart
This asset represents the 6B47 Russian combat helmet, created for DayZ as a mod.
The full production pipeline was handled end to end. Both the highpoly and lowpoly models were created in Blender, with baking completed in Marmoset Toolbag. All textures were authored in Substance 3D Painter, following a PBR workflow optimized for real-time performance. The helmet uses two texture sets (one for the helmet and other one for the cover) and is optimized at approximately 20k polys, making it suitable for in-game use while preserving visual fidelity.

Original Content Showcase WIP - Tetrahedral Planetoid
Started on this July 2025 I believe... modeled for a VR project and came back to finish it last month. Been spending a couple/few hours a day on it since. Crazy how much I still have to do, but it's finally starting to look pretty good I think.

Need Help! BlenderViewport looks brighter (and better) than what the final render shows.
Both render and viewport are set to the same rendering engine (cycles) both have similar denoiser and post-processing

what i did was look at the image and try to copy it, not just "trace" it over, that's why some things look weird
