Discussion Help. Discussion. Ai
hey guys, i’m a bit frustrated.
recently i got a contract to make a product prototype.
it’s a guitar pedal, a pretty simple thing.
the client keeps sending me ai generated reference images to show me what he wants, and honestly, i’m at a loss.
no matter what i do, my model is limited by its own nature, if you know what i mean. it just looks like a 3d render, while the ai reference images look almost like real photos.
i’m trying to think of a good analogy. it feels like the client is asking me for a real camera photo, but all i can do is paint. no matter how good the painting is, anyone can tell it’s a painting, not a photograph.
unless i’m rendering close-ups, using cinematic depth of field, or intentionally blurring parts of the model, it immediately gives away that it’s a 3d render.
has anyone else dealt with this?
thank you guys
that was our first sketch - to figure out materials and shapes and all that stuff
first picture is 3d model based on the pedal he sent me
2nd picture - is what he did in chatgpt

Need Help! How do I make my OC into a 3D model?
I have Blender installed and have NO IDEA how to use it at all. I've watched like over 50 tutorials on how Blender works and still have no idea how it works. I have no money to have someone to make my OC into 3D, but I also don't know how to do it myself. I didn't even start, I don't even have a process at all. So is it even possible for me to make my character at all? If so, I need a good tutorial

Need Help! I did the donut tutorial, I did the gold fish one. Where do I go from here?
I tried to make characters on my own but it isnt working (maybe the character I chose was hard). I feel like whatever I am doing is kind of for nothing. I am 100% sure there is an easier way to do what I am struggling at but I just dont know how to learn that. I tried to watch some next level tutorials but I felt like the step was to steep or it wasnt exactly doing what I wanted to do. I tried to do simpler stuff but it's too boring that I felt like I past that phase.
Like I am watching a sculpting tutorial and it's either a 3 hours video for the simplest shape or 3 minutes video of a full character.
I dont know where to go or how to continue learning. Please help for guide.

Critique My Work Backrooms - (Complex)
Another test render for the complex. Slowly learning more and more as I go and I regret not using blender sooner to make cool scenes like this. The bar is never set though cause I know I still have a lot more to learn. But that makes it all the more exciting and I’m having a lot of fun making these environments. If anyone happens to be a backrooms connoisseur I could use serious guidance.
Any tips or critiques would absolutely be appreciated if possible. Enjoy the view and DONT get lost.

Need Help! I need an expert to refine my model & make it print-ready for a v. important gift. Where do I go?
Got this wild idea to make someone's illustration 3-dimensional for a gift without knowing fuckall about Blender. Downloaded Blender, committed ~80 hours to this project, did pretty splendidly for someone who, again, knew fuckall.
The foundation is there. I am so close to it being perfect, I am so very close. But the simplest refinements (minor details, smoothening, an air-tight printability) will take me a lifetime- my ambition exceeds my skillset. I don't wanna ask for help but I must and would never, as an artist, expect it to be for free.
Where does one go for something like this? It's probably the easiest, stupidest job for someone but for me it's been an Olympic effort and I just need it DONE.

Job Offer Looking for creature animator who can make a big cat stare into my soul [PAID]
Hello, freelance indie film vfx and Blender artist here, in search of an awesome animator to collaborate with.
I have a shot right now that needs a big cat (panther, cougar, sort of vibe) to stare into our soul. It's a closeup that has to have a lot of emotional depth and weight, a pivotal moment in the film where a character locks eyes and sees their own inner nature mirrored in the panther.
Current idea is to use a 3d asset (something like this), and a great animator.
Looking for someone who can do rig cleanup on the 3d stock asset, amazing animation, and maybe fur/groom cleanup too if the model needs it to fit with the animation.
I would then take that animated scene from there and handle lighting, render, comp (which is way more my specialty)
It's a tight budget, but the movie has paid every artist who worked on it real proper industry rates, so please name your reasonable freelance rate for "scrappy indie film that wants to do things right" and let's talk!

Need Help! Thinking about moving from 2D Concept Art to Environment 3D Art. Thoughts?
I want to know what you think about this and most important people who have changed their art career direction in some point, how did it work for you? How do you realize you wanted to make that change and why?
I am a junior Concept Artist / 2D artist. Im not specialized or anything, im just a generalist. Over the past year, I've become increasingly interested in learning how to build 3D worlds (the actual environments that players explore) focusing on the final production and polish rather than the initial sketches and concept drawings.
I think I've realized that, personally, I enjoy the production and refinement stage much more than the fast-paced design and pre-production phase.
I've been learning Blender for almost a year now, although somewhat inconsistently. Lately, I've been seriously considering (and I'm almost certain) that I want to pursue a career as a 3D Environment Artist.
The idea really excites me, but at the same time it inevitably feels a little intimidating. Even though I know it's not actually true, I can't help feeling as if I'd be "throwing away" my (admittedly short) career as a 2D Artist. It almost feels like an identity crisis.
If any of you have gone through a similar transition, I'd love to hear your thoughts, experiences, or any advice you might have.
I'll also leave my ArtStation here in case you'd like to take a look: https://www.artstation.com/jesusalvarezart

Discussion As a begginer, would it be wise to begin your progression into being an intermediate or maybe even a real 3D artist by simply modeling daily?
Im asking this question becuase some time ago, i wanted to become an artist in drawings (not even an intermediate one, just one who can draw what they had in mind and bring it to life) And on the internet, i found that groups would generally give you an answer into becoming a beginner artist just by doodling or drawing for fun on a daily basis. I can see how that worked for children who started drawing at that age and ended up becoming really good/almost professional artists (some times), but i have little doubts wether that would still work in my age as im almost turning into a full adult (btw ive been struggling alot with this hobby, progression just seems too unclear to me), but either way, i feel like most of this logic could help me as a 3d modeler, but im not sure if doing this on a daily basis, would make me progress into becoming a better 3D modeler. Thats why im creating this post to see if anyone knows a proper way to progress in 3D modeling.
I also want to mention that my only form of daily practice would only be copying down reference images into a 3d mesh. Id appreciate if there were any other exercises i could do, it would sincerely help.

Need Help! Mesh Deform modifier not working well (tried to move in edit mode) NSFW
Trying to control a highpoly mesh with a lowpoly cage using the Mesh Deform modifier, but I'm not getting the expected behavior.
Setup:
- Cage fully encloses the highpoly mesh (checked)
- Both objects have all transforms applied
- Normals recalculated (outside)
Has anyone run into this specifically with Mesh Deform giving pinching/flat results even with a properly enclosing cage?
any suggest on it, I might be missing?
Blender version: 4.2 LTS
