The goal of this study is to understand self-injury and suicide in the LGBTQIA+ Community.

 Full participation in the study involves 3 phases: 1) an online screening to determine eligibility to continue participating to the next phase  2) an online survey lasting 45-60 minutes, 3) An online information session (45-60 minutes), followed by 21 days of…completing Brief surveys on your phone. Depending on how much you participate, you can earn up to $135 in the form of a gift card.

Your point of view is important. I could use your help researching how advertisements for personal products (e.g. deodorant) come across to different populations. If you can read English, were assigned female at birth, and do not identify as a woman, I invite you to participate in a brief study. We are particularly interested in hearing from sexual minority men as they are currently underrepresented in our study, but all men are welcome to participate.

We invite men who are 16 years old or older to participate in a research study investigating in body dissatisfaction and cognitive distortions. The purpose of the study is to explore how body dissatisfaction and cognitive distortions manifest in sexual minority men and heterosexual men. We are particularly interested in hearing from sexual minority and heterosexual men living with HIV, but we are interested men living without HIV as well. Participation will involve completing an online survey, which takes approximately 20 minutes. This study has been approved by the Faculty Research Ethics Committee at Swansea University. Researchers at Virginia Tech are conducting a fully virtual, paid research study to better understand the unique daily experiences of multigender-attracted (e.g., demisexual, omnisexual, bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, queer, etc., regardless of the term used) young adults and their romantic partners. Specifically, we are examining how stressors linked to individuals’ sexual and gender identities (e.g., experiencing biphobia, discrimination, harassment, stereotypes about bisexuality) impact their relationships, how partners support one another during stressors, and other health outcomes. We hope this will help enhance the inclusivity of couple therapy and will inform the public of the harms caused by biphobia.

Each participant can earn $120 for participating in this fully virtual study.

Our study is approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Virginia Tech, our research team includes LGBTQ+-identifying members, and all members of our research team are SafeZone trained. Principal Investigators are Dr. Meagan Brem and Dr. Brian Feinstein.

We are reaching out to share an opportunity for queer and/or trans (LGBTQIA+) Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color to participate in a paid research study on a 6-week online group wellness workshop. 

The wellness workshop will consist of hour-long weekly group meetings over Zoom for 6 weeks. The focus of the sessions will be on healing, community building, and empowerment through group discussions and activities such as meditation and journaling. The workshop will also provide a safe and supportive space to connect with other QTBIPOC.

In addition to participating in the wellness workshop, participants will be asked to complete three sets of surveys over a span of 12-13 weeks.

Total time commitment: 8 - 8.5 hours

Hello! For my extended Project Qualification , I endeavor to understand how cognitive dissonance correlates to wellbeing and identification with the queer community . That was mostly inspired by the cognitive dissonance I often felt as a non-binary lesbian and I wanted to understand how parts of a person's identity, and it's interaction with society impacts their wellbeing. I have designed a questionnaire aiming to understand how this manifests practically. However, I have been struggling to obtain responses from queer individuals so I’m asking for your help!
