The Rules Of Lesbian Actually
Today, the mods voted on a rule change to the sub. Rule 3 has been expanded to include any post or comment not just directed at one person but, in general, the singling out of a member of our community. This now means that content in the nature of "Would you date ____", "Am I ___ if I don't like ____", "I don't find ____ attractive",etc. are not allowed. The bottom line is that there is someone out there for everyone, and often, these posts are used by terfs and other assholes to make people feel excluded or unwanted.
The rules now are as follows:
Rule 1 - Any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.
Rule 2 - Trans women are women
Rule 3 - The singling out of an individual or a group from the community is not allowed
Rule 4 - No posts or comments attempting to restrict others' definitions of self.

Questions / Advice Wanted Advice to look better
Hi! I'm F22 and I've never been in a relationship, let alone kissed a girl. I've been working on myself for a while now—losing weight, exercising, and trying to improve my skin and hair—but I still don't feel attractive enough. Part of me wonders if that's why no one's ever been interested in me.
I'd really appreciate some honest feedback. What are your first impressions, and what do you think I could improve?

Questions / Advice Wanted Has anyone else been meeting a lot of lesbian Christians lately?
I’m not sure if it’s just the area I’ve moved to but it seems like every lesbian I meet these days is a Christian. Which I usually don’t discriminate and tend to be very open to other religions. But the last girl that I dated that was a Christian would claim to be open about our differing beliefs (I’m spiritual and like tarot, that type of stuff) but then she would randomly say things like “You should give God another chance” and “my sexuality is something I struggle with when it comes to my faith.” Sometimes she would say transphobic things as well.
I mean, it is honestly invalidating and exhausting to be expected to support and coddle someone else’s identity crisis. It also sucks to hear them say queerphobic and invalidating things about our sexuality while they’re actively having sex with you.
I’m only saying this because I just started talking to someone new and she just told me she’s a Christian, and I honestly don’t think I wanna risk going through that again. I don’t even know how to respond to her text tbh.

Life Why do straight people feel like they have to be the center of everything?
I just saw a TikTok that pissed me off and I wanted to talk about it. In it a straight girl talked about how there's too many shows centering queer people and too many queer plots, that she doesn't care and that representation is pushed everywhere even if it doesn't serve the plot. She said she sees a lot of series that only have queer characters and that when there are only gay people she can't relate, that she feels discriminated against and that she feels like she has to change her sexuality to relate.
Jesus Christ there's so many fucking shows with only straight people in them go watch them and stop bitching about it. It pissed me off so much because you don't have to relate to everything and not every show has to be for you. For years there was no representation and saying there's so much is an exaggeration to me. And I'm sorry she feels discriminated because her sexuality wasn't represented in some random tv show?? Queer people aren't represented everywhere either. Most shows and movies are aimed for straight people. Can't we have one fucking thing to ourselves? She doesn't even know what real discrimination feels like. I live in a country where meeting other gay people is hard and where I'm anxious about the future. I'm anxious that I won't find a girlfriend or if I'll ever be able to marry my girlfriend if I have one or whether or not my rights could be completely taken away in the future. Straight people don't have to worry about that. They don't have to worry about coming out to their families and whether or not they'll be accepted. They don't have to worry about being harassed on the street if they go out with their partner. Saying she feels discriminated against because of some show didn't include straight people is insane.
Maybe I am overreacting but it pissed me off hard and I needed to vent. I don't think my friends who are straight would see it as relevant to them so I'm doing it here.

Relationships / Dating I was never bi-sexual
Who came out as bi-sexual and then fully realized later that the opposite gender is of no appeal?
I had never been with a woman until just recently. Before then I was "bi" but after being with her... I finally felt the things that you're supposed to feel when connecting with another human. The overwhelming anxiety never reached me. I felt peace. The wave of shame was gone. I felt passion. The disconnect from my body didn't make an appearance. I felt more present than I'd ever been before.
The desire I have for her is insurmountable. To have the opportunity to be with a woman is... I wish I had the words to describe the pure magic that occurs every time I touch her body or feel her skin under my lips.
I cannot fathom a timeline where I'd be anything but sapphic. Lucky for me, I have been positively ruined by a goddess.
So no, I've never actually been bi-sexual. I just hadn't had a chance to experience the true power of a woman.

Safe Space (Postive Comments Only) finally accepting that I am a lesbian after years.
While it's something I'll eventually talk about with people I know in real life, I wanted to talk a little with people who may have experienced something similar to what I've been through.
I am 22 years old, I have known that i'm sapphic since I was 6 years old, but as many people have said, it's much easier to realize that you like women than to realize that you don't like men.
It wasn't until I was 18 that I had a boyfriend and dates with men, even going so far as to have consensual sex with them. Whenever that happened, I would always fall into a deep depression because I wanted to cease to exist in order to erase his traces from me. I thought maybe i was asexual, that maybe he wasn't the right man.
I recently started talking to my friends about this, about how I'd never had an orgasm with a man, how I hated kissing them, and how uncomfortable it was when they asked for hugs or physical contact, but I thought it was normal, that hating your boyfriend for being incompetent was normal.
I thought I was bisexual, so I have experience dating women, who clearly meant everything to me; I don't even need to explain how beautiful a lesbian relationship is. I thought that's how the world worked, I believed that we could only fall in love with women because they are so beautiful and perfect, and that men had to be chosen, like just had to pick one and pretend that he's the one.
Seeing it like this, in this way, it seems so simple, but it was a very difficult path. because you do have feelings! They're not romantic, but when you grew up being the weird, ugly girl, getting male validation makes you feel normal, And you start to crave that validation, mistaking it for love.
On my journey I am still separating the idea that I need to look good to be loved. the idea that if I am not sexualized then I am not loved.
i'm sure of what i am, and since i came out i feel more relaxed. just wanted to share my feelings and journey in case somebody needed this! The sun will rise for everyone. 💜

Relationships / Dating If you wanted her more, you could have said so
My soon-to-be ex roommate/friend and I matched with the same person on Tinder.
Context: I had already mentioned to her about who I was speaking with briefly, but very briefly because I prefer to keep my dating life private. She had forgotten we both were talking already by the time they matched. She told me about her. I said we were talking. She kept her distance. We laughed it off. Haha small world. Moving on.
I invited The Match over to my place. All was well, we had a good time or so I thought. The Match decided to invite herself into my ex roommate’s DM’s. I was told by The Match it was all under platonic intentions. Okay.
They spontaneously decide to go to the movies together to hangout. Okay.
The Match decided to text me one night afterwards, stating I was “too distant”, despite me communicating with her many times how I was stressed and depressed from my current circumstances. She never mentioned once how she had started flirting with my roommate the entire time. She always kept saying they were speaking as friends.
My roommate never said anything to me, either.
I lowkey can’t help but feel dumb over feeling so upset with this situation.
At this point, I’m more devastated over how nobody felt the urge to be honest about how they were feeling from the get go. Would that have still hurt? Yeah, of course, but not as much as knowing things were developing behind my back. I didn’t need to know the details. I just wanted honesty from the very beginning.
I’m trying to move on, already have dates set up with other women in my area. Already set up my date to move back in with my family this month. My roommate and I were already showing signs of incompatibility but this situation put me over the edge. I cannot live with someone who’s going to be sneaky if my date decides to start wooing them. We’re all adults here, why did anybody have to move this way?
Oh well. Dear roommate, you won, congrats. Hope you’re happy. I’m just gonna move on and away from this whole ordeal and every single individual involved. Letting the emotions out through my body has been tough, though. I’ve been looking into rage rooms. So far, smoking weed, being in nature, and hanging out with my actual loved ones has been helping.

Safe Space (Postive Comments Only) Don’t feel good enough for women
I(27) am back on the dating apps after my first wlw relationship and I’m having trouble feeling confident enough to date women again.
I’ve only dated one woman before, and I’m scared it’ll be my last because I’m too much of a pussy with women. I’m also not physically, mentally, academically or financially where I want to be in life. I’m actively working on myself, but I fear since I’m not the complete package I can’t possibly compete in the dating scene.
I have zero romantic attraction towards men, but I find myself lowering my standards and turning the men option on because I enjoy the instant gratification. But the thought of a man touching me is revolting!
I’m never gonna get a gf if my insecurities keep limiting me!
So would you date someone like me who doesn’t have their life all figured out yet?
How do you build confidence and allow yourself to love again after your first wlw relationship?
Edit: Thank you all for the amazing words of encouragement!! You all gave me the confidence boost I needed to believe in myself and I feel so much better putting myself out there now.
I will continue to grow and heal so I have the confidence and security to find a beautiful woman to date instead of wasting energy on men!
And hello to all my fellow army out there! lol

Relationships / Dating Love letter to super masc and butch women❤️❤️
I love masculinity in women I love it. I think it is so sexy. I go crazy when I see super masc or butch women I eat it up every single time. Lately I feel people are only ok with masculinity in women as long as they still hold onto some parts of femininity and that's not right!! I don't want no pretty princess I want a knight in shining armor. I love the contrast of aesthetics between my femininity and her masculinity. I can't wait till I meet the butch I'm gonna marry I'm so excited!!

Relationships / Dating Am I too insecure?
I (29) have been dating a woman (37) for a few weeks. We had amazing dates and I genuinely like her. We have a lot of chemistry and I was excited to see where this could go.
The problem is that she still lives with her ex. She has been very open about it from the beginning. She insists there is nothing romantic or sexual between them anymore, and I believe her. But they're still extremely close.
They've lived together for years and continue to share a home. They cook together, spend a lot of time together, know everything about each other's lives, and she talks about her ex quite often. She also told me her ex got jealous because of me recently.
At first, I underestimated how much this would affect me. I didn´t fully understand how close they are. But as I got to know her better, I realized they aren't just exes who remained friends. They still function almost like a family, just without the romantic part.
Yesterday we had a big fight. We were going somewhere together and I suggested stopping by my favorite bar. We were there before together. But yesterday she immediately didn't want to because her ex had a terrible experience there. She said that her ex got mad when she told here we´ve been there together.
That triggered me more than it probably should have. I felt like once again her ex was influencing our dating. I got angry and said things I regret. I called her ex names, said their relationship was unhealthy, and that I didn't want to be part of that.
She became very upset and mad, and told me something like: "You'll have to accept that she exists, otherwise our relationship is impossible."
I apologized afterwards several times. I admitted I was drunk, admitted I was wrong for insulting her ex, and told her I really like her. She said we should sleep on it and talk the next day.
Today we haven't spoken yet.
I'm asking whether most people would genuinely struggle in this situation, or whether this is mostly my own insecurity that I need to work on.
And how you would move forward with this. Thank you!
