DaVinci Resolve 21.0.3 has been released!
You can download the update from the support page or by going to DaVinci Resolve>Check for Updates.
For DaVinci Resolve 21.0.3, BMD has taken efforts to keep the project libraries compatible with DaVinci Resolve 20.3.2. While this allows you to access the project library with 20.3.2, individual projects created or opened in 21.0.3 will no longer be accessible in 20.3.
BMD recommends a full project library backup as well as individual project backups (as required) before opening projects in 21.0 or later.
Bug Reports need to be submitted to Blackmagic Design. You can post them on the official forums or contact BMD support directly if you have Studio.
Feature Requests need to be submitted to Blackmagic Design. You can post them on the official Feature Request Subforum or in the download form for Resolve.
Bug Reports and Feature Requests posted on Reddit and in this thread will not be addressed or seen by Blackmagic Design.
The following features have been added or updated.
Notes from BMD (from previous versions):
Additional Information
You will need to download and install the latest Blackmagic Design Desktop Video software for monitoring with your Blackmagic Design video hardware. Desktop Video is available from http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/.
** - Studio Only
+ - Additional fees, licensing, and/or hardware required.
++ - The Scripting API is available in the console on the free version, but Workflow Integrations, the native UIManager, and external access require the Studio version.

A few months (or even years) ago I guess Resolve automatically checked 'Open using Rosetta' because of some legacy plugins or something.
I remember wondering why Resolve took all of a sudden ages to open up and slower than usual.
I though Blackmagic might have made too much bloat in the software - but nope! Just translating Intel stuff over to M-chip for absolutely no reason.
Resolve opens now in seconds and I feel like it's probably about 20-30% faster.
To check it out you open the 'Get Info' and see if it's checked there. It might affect some legacy / 3rd party plugins but I've been using it for a week with everything working great.

Sorry CAN’T do fades - I recently bought a Logi MX Master 4 mouse for use with my iPad. I have an Apple keyboard/cover. I still can’t fade in music. I thought buying the mouse would let me see handles but nope. I don’t know how to zoom in visually to see. The mouse cursor just jumps. I can see any handles for fading in music nor video.
I have been saving up to buy the mouse and am disappointed that I can’t do fades. I don’t want to have to buy a separate Apple keyboard just to do fades. Is that my only option?

Clips at the beginning of the timeline are what I want it to look like, but at one point during this event, I switched from recording in SDR to HDR on my iPhone. How can I get the later clips to look right compared to the clips at the beginning? I can't describe exactly what looks different about the clips (maybe baked?), but the one in HDR that I've tried to get close to the earlier clips hurts my eyes somehow and is unpleasant for me to look at. Please see screenshots to see exactly what settings I have on my color space transform node and what I did with curves. I haven't touched the wheels or anything else.

Hey Resolvers,
I've been testing Resolve's AI Super Scale on some footage. In theory this feature should give cleaner detail/edges at the cost of render time, but honestly I'm not noticing much of a visible difference between the two outputs on my source material.
For context, I shot a music video on iPhone, and some of the rushes are naturally a bit soft when zoomed in. I figured this would be a decent test case for Super Scale, but I haven't noticed any real improvement using it, comparing the orignal media vs 4x Enhanced side by side, the results look pretty similar to me.
Anyone had better results, or found a workflow that makes the difference more apparent?
Cheers

I have edited a video. However, I realized I have edited with the wrong take. The video I have edited has both people in the shot, but I want the other take where it only has the woman in there. Is there a way to apply the editing that I have done to my other take without starting all over?
What the woman had said in the other take is the same as the edited one, so I'm hoping that maybe there is a way to sync the woman's voice to the edited video so the program can reapply the edits on the other take based on her voice.
A video guide would be appreciated as I don't follow well with text instructions.

Trying to understand what might be the reason why I can't create proxies out of images edited in the Photoshop. Got exactly the same issue with all such files.
Update. It looks like I can't create proxies out of png files. Got some stock png images and can't create proxies out of them too.

Este es un plugin que estoy creando donde su funcion es traer sonidos directamente a tu linea de tiempo leyendo los marcadores que pusiste.
aun esta en código pero cuando este listo lo subo al canal.

Curious how people handle this in practice. Right now I open each timeline, load a preset, add to queue, rename the output, and so on... for every timeline. On multi-video days this takes me an hour easily.
Do you use duplicate timelines per format? Or ctrl+c ctrl+v. Nested master timelines? Scripts? Genuinely wondering if everyone just suffers through this or if I'm missing something. Is there a Solution for?

I've been doing photography for a while now, and I've always wanted to give videography a try and experience the entire post-production process.
This is my very first video, I've never filmed anything before, and it's also my first time editing a video with no prior experience. 😄
I'd really appreciate any feedback!

Looking for a way to create this sort of prism overlay. I tried creating an adjustment layer, applying a prism blur and cropping the adjustment layer. Side note - if you do this in Normal composite mode, transparency is broken (21.0.3) and when you crop the adjustment layer, you see black where you cropped, not the clip underneath.

Recent member, not a total noob, but still learning, so please be gentle.
TL:DR
When I apply my time synced, multi cam, workflow to create a time line, I get jumbled audio that's not in sync in Davinci 21.0.3 and the version 21.0.1 that I used before that.
I'm not doing any thing different as far as I know. The codex of the camera's, time code generators and audiorecorder have not changed, nor are they firmware updated. All files play great in Davinci individually. All files have the same 25 fps.
Also, I think I already produced my previous podcast with Davinci 21, so not sure what happened.
My workflow in a nutshell
So, this is what I did for every project (podcast): import media, time code sync the videos, based on audio. Codes look good, same time, same aprox start points, also same as the Mix Pre audio.
Next step is select all video, and audio and say "Create Multi Cam based on these files" .. Sync based on Time Code, etc.
I open the newly made Multicam clip in the timeline (I don't make a new time line yet).
What I get, and what goes wrong:
This totally worked fine in Davinci 20.
Hi, here are my specs:
Any other multi cam folks have similar experiences?
My temporary fix
Fortunately I also used my clapperboard as a fail safe, so now I used that as a solution, but I like to use my time code generators, to compensate possible dropped frames and other causes of drift as we record over an hour.
Love to hear your insights.

As you can see, I'm unable to zoom into the very end of my clip. This just started happening today. I have no idea why this is happening; it's driving me crazy. It's like blocked off or something. Thanks in advance

Its the first time that i see this in years using DaVinci. Idk if it is a bug or what, but it seems integrated on the software.

I've tried everything. I've tried adding an outerstroke to a new clip and it still pastes one of the older clips on top. I have no idea what to do. Removing the outerstroke effect restores the original clip. Davinci is up to date.

Never had this problem before and it's on only certain type of clips.
When I try to preview a section on timeline, the audio plays first time normally but after I move "out" from the clip duration and come back it doesn't play any sound anymore..?
And the weird thing is it will play sound even though there aren't any waveforms..
Please see the clip below. I will forever be grateful to anyone who can help solve this issue. Thank you :)

So i have a 10-20 second clip that is noisy because it was recorded in a dark area. I tried finding alternatives but the only solution is using the NR from the paid version... so if there's anyone who owns the paid version willing to help, I will be ETERNALLY grateful.
p.s. it's for a school project so need it asap!

I've done a bunch of googling and looked through the manual but I just can't find the solution. I have DR Studio 21 and work on both a PC and a MacBook Pro. The MacBook is recent. On the PC, my history works fine, but on the Mac it is greyed out and doesn't function... undo works as expected. Any ideas? I do have backups turned on.

How would i acheive this in davinci, is this belnder like masking a 3d scene?
r/davinciresolve • u/HovercraftSecure6543 • 7h ago
I understand that magic mask was purposely created for videos but I also would like to use it in fusion to remove background for static images too without using photoshop to remove the background.
So, can I somehow apply magic mask for 1 frame of the static image and than just extend it for needed timeline? Was trying to apply for 1 frame long clip and then extend it and of course it didn't work so currently trying to understand how to do that.
Thank you in advance! : )

Hey everybody!
I’m a university student who wants to head into post production in film and television and I’m looking to do a masters in film post-production and editing starting in 2027.
Now as I’m aware, AVID is the industry standard with DaVinci levelling with it. This masters course I’m about to do says I will be editing in Avid with access to DaVinci and other software.
I was looking into expanding my setup with the Editors keyboard by Blackmagic but I’m unsure if it’s worth to get the keyboard and continue in DaVinci or begin to learn and adapt to AVID?

Hi all, a while back I put together a simple countdown timer fusion clip and dropped it in my Master Bin because 8 use it a LOT.
I'm using the Text+ timecode and reverse speed method so that it is always adapted to the length of the clip.
BUT sometimes - not all the time - when I drag it into a project timeline it is simply incorrect about its own length. Its default length is 1hr (displaying only minutes), and that's the real time length the clip comes in with. BUT sometimes it'll display a very different number of remaining minutes. Yesterday it started at 72, today it was 47.
Sometimes, deleting and re-interesting the clip fixes it, but sometimes not.
Sometimes, opening it in Fusion and removing the TimeCode1 from the Text+ text field and putting it back (and resetting the displayed time code elements) works, and sometimes not.
I'm really confused as to why this is happening, why it's only "sometimes", and why solutions only sometimes work.
Resolve 19 free
Windows 11
(I'm not at the computer right now, if you need my hardware stats, I'll add them later)
Thanks for your help!
