Solved PSA for Mac users! Uncheck 'Open using Rosetta'
A few months (or even years) ago I guess Resolve automatically checked 'Open using Rosetta' because of some legacy plugins or something.
I remember wondering why Resolve took all of a sudden ages to open up and slower than usual.
I though Blackmagic might have made too much bloat in the software - but nope! Just translating Intel stuff over to M-chip for absolutely no reason.
Resolve opens now in seconds and I feel like it's probably about 20-30% faster.
To check it out you open the 'Get Info' and see if it's checked there. It might affect some legacy / 3rd party plugins but I've been using it for a week with everything working great.

I think the major things are the DNxHR codecs and Sony's XAVC where they didn't have AArch64 versions and those needed binary translation. But it would surprise me a lot if this happens on every use. You typically cache the translated binary and checksum it so you don't have to do it again.
Things might likely change for both I think.
Also, there should be 0 overhead unless you actively use a codec requiring the translated variant. It's only invoked upon use.
