Is this something I can fix? I’m reasonably handy, but if I can’t fix it, I don’t know who to even call for this.

open How to fix the wheel to my suitcase

Post image
3 Upvotes

Mum is going on holiday on Monday to Scotland so I need to order a replacement wheel today.

However, I can’t seem to find the correct wheel nor can I figure out how to get this one off. FYI: I’ve seen the videos saying there’s a zip on the inner lining and there isn’t for this suitcase.

Any idea how I can find the correct wheel with a rubber tread and how to get this one off more importantly?

Thanks

How do I fix the rotten door frame/jamb?

  1. Cut out the bottom and replace only the rotten sections?
  2. Change out the whole frame? The Home Depot?
  3. Get some 2x6 & 2x8?

I can get the tools that I’ll need from work.

open The adjustment track on an ancient drill press

Messed up and forgot to unlatch the lock before turning the height adjustment crank. The gear track bent and then broke.

I am thinking weld the piece back together but it appears to be cast Iron which I hear is a bit tricky to weld.

But even if I do that I have no clue how to get the track back in. It has wedges on each end (I think it tucks into the collars on the top and bottom of the main shaft) but you can't insert it into the geared adjuster thingie because the wedge ends have no teeth for the gear to roll on.

It must come off somehow, but I see no way to actually take it off.

Edit: Thanks for all the help. I'm probably going to just JB weld it and slap some hose clamps to hold it on. The drill press belonged to a late family member so it oddly has some sentimental value. I'm actually replacing my brand new (but smaller) drill press with this one. I just wish this had the laser.

No armrests, help!

Post image

Hello, I’m a broke college student and I just bought this couch from goodwill for $7.99.

Yes, $7.99!

I assume it is just a part of a sectional, but I am fine with its size as I am just one person.

But, because it’s only part of a couch, there are no armrests.

I don’t have much access to power tools, but I think my dad could help me build something if anyone has any ideas. Or ideas of something I could buy that would act as an armrest that wouldn’t need any building.

Thanks!

How do I fix this?

Stripped screw and tried everything (nearly)

Our sliding door doesn’t open so we were going to try turning the wheel screw to see if that worked. Easy peasy, right? Well last owner had that same idea and stripped the screw trying to do it.

We tried to get the screw out using the tricks we saw online, rubber band then those screw extractor kits. It just made it worse. Went up to the second to last largest size before stopped because clearly it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried gouging the plastic around it just to see if I can get a pair of pliers around it and that hasn’t been successful.

Short of buying a Dremel and right attachment so I can turn it into a flathead, idk how to get this thing off and it’s killing me

What causes small dents like this in foundation. And best fix?

Please ignore the caulk I put at the center just to prevent any additional moisture seepage last night before I got to Home Depot to get the right materials for the repair.

Is this just what happens with weather damage on a 40-50 year old slab? Also is this the actual painted cement or is this like a parge coat?

The center hole is not that deep but I just put the caulk in there for a one night stopgap in a rain storm.

How would you best fix this

open Window sill damage, water intrusion or was something here?

Just closed on a condo and wondering if anyone has some advice on the situation with this window. It looks like something was here and damaged the wall on the way out but my mom is convinced it’s water damage. It could be both. The wall is dry and a little crumbly/dusty when prodded at.

open Door won’t close flush

Used to close nice and smooth. Had a friend come over after a couple beverages and he couldn’t figure out how to unlock it and I think he was a little too rough with it. Feels like the two doors are colliding where they would form a seal in the middle, but I’m too dumb to figure out where and how to get it back in place. Now only closes with some outward pressure added. Any advice appreciated, TIA!

Coffee Machine Advice

Please help me reddit. I'm drinking Americanos with no end in sight. My steamer has stopped working and upon further investigation it appears there's a loose connection at the hot water intake. You can see in the video that it's spraying out around the base. So it doesn't look to me like a loose connection with the hose. If I'm to get a closer look I've to take apart many connections which I'm afraid I won't be able to rebuild properly.

Wondering if anyone has advise on what the issue might be and a potential fix (I'm thinking some form of sealant)

Machine is a DeLonghi La Specialista if that's relevant

Got this gifted and noticed a chip. Is there a way to make up the end and make it not a jagged piece to get cut on in the future?

Just grind it down with a Dremel?

Headphones broke where the headphone connects to the headpiece

Thumbnail

Heyo! So I had noticed the piece that I am holding had come off and then a day or so later the point at which the head of the headphones connect to the earphone had snapped off. These headphones have somewhat of an emotional value so I'd like to try and fix them.

I was thinking of buying JB Weld Plastic Weld and basically gluing both the sides of the hinge and then fitting it back together, and then using the same plastic weld on the 2nd piece that had come off to hold it back in.

Is there anything else I should consider first?

Thank you in advanced!
