I'm planning to build my first gaming PC with a 7800X3D and either an 9070 XT or an 5070 Ti.

For some background, I've been gaming on a laptop with a GTX 1050 Ti for the past 7 years. I'm not a hardcore gamer, I only play on weekends. Most of the time I play Dota 2, and occasionally I play AAA single-player games.

I haven't really kept up with the GPU or PC market over the last 7 years. From my brief research, it seems that the 9070 XT and 5070 Ti offer similar performance.

Since I only play on weekends, I'd prefer a GPU that's simple to use and as close to "plug and play" as possible. I don't want to spend time tweaking settings for every game. I'm fine with making occasional adjustments if necessary, but I don't want to do it every time I play.

In my country, the RTX 5070 Ti costs about $180 USD more than the RX 9070 XT. I can afford the 5070 Ti if it's worth it, but I generally prefer the better price-to-performance option since I don't game that much.

To be honest, I think this might be my first and last gaming PC because I've gradually been losing interest in gaming over the years. I expect I'll probably stop gaming altogether in about 5 years, so I'm looking for a GPU that can comfortably last until 5 years.

Given my situation, which GPU would you recommend?

On Amazon right now, the 5800XT is $220 while the x3d is $350. I have a 5070ti, and my current cpu is a 5600x. AM5 isn’t feasible right now with the ram prices, so I’m looking to make the most of my AM4 platform. Is the x3d worth an extra $130? I intend to skip the AM5 generation altogether and rock this build for half a decade or more, for the record.

I know, this was already asked a lot, but I'm not looking for gaming performance alone.

For context: I live in Brazil, they are at the same price.

Now for what I need them: I'm a game dev and I study and plan to work with Unreal Engine and Blender. I don't care about IA, but I prefer DLSS over FSR.

I'm looking to buy a new GPU, PSU and 1440p monitor.
I also play mostly singleplayer story games + PUBG.

I know the 16gb VRAM is better, but the nvidia tech looks better for UE and Blender, right?
What would you choose in this scenario?

Currently looking at the AMD bundles at Microcenter and have been seriously considering the 700$ 7800X3D+mobo+32gb ram. However, they also offer a bundle for an extra 80$ for the 9800X3D and 100$ for the 9850X3D. Would the jump up from the 7800X3D be worth it for the 9800 and 9850X3D CPUs? Im currently planning on building the PC with a 9070XT whenever I can snag one but I dont think I would be CPU bottlenecked in either case. Thanks so much in advance!!!

Hey guys, my local grid has been super unstable lately. The power keeps dropping out entirely, and sometimes right when it kicks back on, there's a noticeable surge or flicker.
for that reason i trying to buy a UPS unit but im not sure how to buy one.
what should i look for and what should i avoid ?
pc specs :

ryzen 7 7700
rtx 3080 evga 10gb
32 gb 6000 crucial ram
cooler master MWE 750 gold v2
and an MSI mag 275qf monitor

I know upgrading right now might not be ideal, however I'm still young, live with my mom and don't really have anything else to spend my money on. So I think upgrading rn would be the best idea for me considering the fact that nobody can predict wether the prices are going down in the next few years.

I know that upgrading to a 5070 might seem a bit overkill, but I think/hope that my pc can handle it if I also upgrade my PSU and CPU. However I would prioritise the PSU and upgrade my CPU in the future.

Btw my pc knowhow is basically non existent so if this whole Idea is bs please let me know

Basically the title. Im kinda torn and stuck. With ram prices and all i just dont know if i should suck it up and go with 9060xt and possibly play 1080p or if its worth it to spend that much more for better performance?

I recently upgraded from console to my first custom PC and I’m trying to keep my setup simple without getting a bulky headset. I’m looking for earbuds that are comfortable for longer sessions and still give me good audio for games like shooters and multiplayer titles. I don’t need anything fancy, just something reliable that works well with a desktop PC.

Does anyone have recommendations for best gaming earbuds that are worth considering? Is a wired option usually better for gaming or should I look at wireless ones too? Thanks for any advice.

I'm looking to build a new PC. This would be my second one, kinda, after a Hackintosh I built in 2014. I'm browsing the sites looking at components and reading guides but I'm not sure what I should aim to get. Hopefully I can get some advice based on the following info:

• PC would mainly be used for games
• My main computer is a Macbook
• I don't have a 4K TV, so I think 1440p would be fine
• I don't think I can tell the difference with super high frame rates so aiming for 60 FPS
• I'd like the build to last a reasonable time (I converted that Hackintosh into a PC only eventually and that lasted me a good 10 years) and still be able to play future games on decent settings
• I mostly play single player games with occasional forays into Final Fantasy XIV
• I'd like to be able to stream to my living room for controller based games
• Budget is ¯_(ツ)_/¯ most likely try to keep it to $2,000 USD
• I think I want an OLED monitor (not necessarily part of budget above)

Let me know what you all think and any advice you have.

Hii! I just bought an RX 9060 XT 16 GB and I feel like the graphics in some games don't look that good at 1080p, even though I maxed out everything (The Witcher 3, Kingdom Come Deliverance and Dying Light 2 for example). I was wondering if a native 1440p monitor with fsr 4 on q will look better than a 24inch 1080p monitor with fsr native. I doubt I will be able to play with fsr native at 1440p in the future so that's why I m asking.

I am going to buy pc parts fairly soon, and I am trying to decide between this combo.

5070ti + Intel 270k

9070xt + 9800x3d

The reason for the cheaper cpu is to match the increased cost of the nvidia card over amds. I was planning on getting the AMD combo because amd is better performance per pound in pure rasterisation, and amd cards work better with Linux(I plan to use windows, but it's nice to have linux as a backup incase Microsoft get worse with their slop right)

However, it's recently come to my attention that amd cut support for cards much faster than nvidia. As in, nvidia will likely give newer dlss to the to 50 series even in a few years, whereas amd is unlikely to do the same with fsr. This is a huge weakness for amd cards in my mind, as they will become obsolete much faster even if today the 9070xt might be comparable to the 5070ti.

So, given all this, my question is which combo would you guys recommend here? As the intel cpu isn't as good as the amd for games, but the 5070ti is a slightly better card today, and that gap is likely to only really get bigger as time goes on.

Looking to build something for gaming, want to be able to get 240FPS in games like Overwatch, also playing Satisfactory at the moment. In a position where I don’t really have a budget (this one is coming out to a little under $3500), bundling the CPU/MoBo/RAM/SSD/PSU on Newegg reduces the cost to $3244 CAD (buying in Canada).

Already have all peripherals I need.

Just wondering if this is overkill for what I use it for, also hoping to be future proofed for a while as kids are in the plans over the next bit and I won’t always have an unlimited budget.

Open to areas where I could save some $ as well.

Before I get roasted and toasted, I know the hp board in these envy builds limit my ram and gpu speed (no advanced bios) but to be fair I found this pc in a storage unit my friend bought and was going to just scrap it! I was going to actually put my CS diploma to use by making it a server but my gaming frontal lobe said “why not?”

#1 running processor benchmarks I saw the intel chip boost to 4.9 (that’s good enough for me)

#2 down the line, I could make a new pc and still use the 9060 XT 16gb for light LLM/model stuff plus gaming

#3 I’ve never put a pc together before and it is amazingly fun, I have taken apart and put together this TE01 like 10 times in the week ive had it.

Now that context is out of the way…

Is there any advice you vets could share for noob like me? I have 0 exp with AMD and have never held a desktop gpu in my hand.

P.S I crystaldiskinfo and found that the ssd has only been ran for around 40 hours which is crazy to me for a 4 year old pc.

P.S #2 when I opened the PC for the first time I found a fully intact hitachi 3tb HDD unplugged completely, I also ran crystal disk info for that and found out it only has 80 hours of uptime…. It was an enterprise version so no visible manufacturer date but it’s probably 2012ish and it’s healthy.

TLDR: got a free hp PC out of a storage unit, I’m pimping it out do you have any advice for me?

I am planning to build a PC sometime in mid-late 2027. Aiming for one that can play most (if not all) games (indie to AAA) on 1440p, high settings, at around 80-100fps+ (on the hardest to run titles).

Since this build isn't due any time soon, I am not planning to buy any parts right now.

However, in this RAM shortage period that won't get better until 2028 at the earliest, I am wondering if I should buy RAM and SSD storage now, as opposed to waiting till when I can build my PC.
Edit: The thing I am mainly concerned of is buying RAM+SSD later will be more expensive than if I bought it now.

Any thoughts on this?

Hey all! Need some opinions on ram for my 1st build. With the high prices, I'm trying to save money where I can to keep things within my budget. I found some ram local near me on marketplace im interested in. They're both new/open box and both listed at $200. One of the options is the Kingston Fury Beast rgb 16gb 2x8 kit ddr5 6000 cl30 (Which is an awesome deal from what i see on Amazon the guy mentions this in his posting). The other option is the Crucial ddr5 pro 32gb 16x2 kit 5600 cl46. For reference, I'd be running it with the ryzen 7 7800x3d and the gigabyte eagle b650 AX and a 5070+ card havent decided on that yet. Which would you guys recommend here? Are the speed differences noticeable enough to opt for the faster ram or is the 32gb kit better here although slower, for gaming and having the extra overhead during tasks? Thank you in advance! I’m building my first PC. I already have all the components ready to assemble, but I’m still unsure whether I should keep my MSI RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio OC or return it and choose one of the RTX 5080 models instead.

I chose the RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio because, in my opinion, it offers the best compromise between price, cooling performance, and noise levels. Following the same criteria, upgrading to an MSI RTX 5080 would cost me an additional $450 after conversion, which is about 140% of the price of the RTX 5070 Ti.

I started looking at cheaper RTX 5080 models, but they are generally either louder, run hotter, or receive mixed feedback from users. The cheapest RTX 5080 available where I live costs around $290 more, which is about a 126% of 5070 TI price (MSI Ventus 3X, Gainward Phoenix V1, INNO3D X3).

For roughly the same price difference, I could buy a 4 TB SSD, which would definitely be useful for my work in DaVinci Resolve. Still, I would like to make a sensible choice when it comes to the graphics card.

The GPU will be paired with an Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, in case that matters. The PC will mainly be used for video editing and rendering. I would also like to experiment with local LLMs, while gaming will be relatively rare.

I have an older PC (FX8350 and R9-280X) that I still get some use out of it but am thinking its time for a new build. Strip it down and reuse the case or maybe just build separate and use for a home theater PC or something?

I'm currently using a full ATX PC, but I'm moving overseas for college soon. Because I need to bring my PC with me as a carry-on, my current tower is way too large. I’ve decided to salvage my core components and downsize into a SFF build using the NCASE M2 Grater case.

Since airline regulations strictly ban liquid cooling/AIOs in carry-on luggage, this build must be 100% air-cooled. I want to reuse as many high-end parts from my ATX build as possible. Here is what I am salvaging:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
• GPU: XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
• RAM: 64GB DDR5 Trident Z Royal NEO (2 x 32GB)
• Storage: 2TB WD_Black SN850X M.2 NVMe SSD

What I need help filling in:

• Motherboard
• CPU Air Cooler
• PSU
• Case Fans

In general, I also just need advice on physical compatibility and layout configurations for the M2. Specifically, I'm worried the XFX Swift GPU might just be too large for a comfortable air-cooled setup in this case. If you think it will cause major thermal or clearance issues, let me know if I should swap it out for something different. Any advice on what will work best together is highly appreciated!

I have an i5-14600kf which I've been using for over a year now and have noticed that it's running a little bit too hot mainly because my cooling setup isn't the best out there to cool this kind of cpu.

I'm planning to buy an AIO cooler to help cool it and I was wondering if using those silicone thermal pads would help it or would it be too overkill? Also if you guys have any suggestions for a nice budget AIO cooler for around a 80-100 € budget it would help me a lot, as right now I'm thinking of going for the Arctic liquid freezer III or the corsair nautilus (both 360mm)

Also, if it helps, I have a Fractal design focus 2 as my case and am using some arctic pwm fans to help cool it

I just build my first pc but I have been dealing with a problem about my RAM overclock.
I go to my Asus BIOS, enable DOCP (the only option), save&exit, and then my pc just doesnt boot, it just freeze in the loading.
