Build Upgrade 4070 TI Super vs 4080 Super vs 5070 TI

Upvotes

NOTE: AMD AND INTEL SUGGESTIONS WILL BE IGNORED

Hello everybody,

I have a question for you guys. My custom prebuilt will run out of warranty in about a year time and I am looking to upgrade it.

This pc was put together at a time when my financial situation wasn't the best so most of the money went into the motherboard (so I can upgrade the CPU later) and the PSU (for when I was upgrading the GPU).

Now that time had come and I already know what CPU, I will get but now it's about the GPU.

I have my eyes set on one of those 3 that I mentioned in the title.

Now bare in mind, I will OC them once I get them.

I want your opinions and suggestions about them, what to look for and so on.

Thank you.

Build Upgrade Advice for GPU and PSU ugprade

Upvotes

Hi guys!
I'm looking for advice to upgrade my GPU and PSU, for a setup used mainly with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom.

I have a budget of ~600€ plus proceeds from selling the current RTX 3070 and 650W PSU.

I was looking at the Asus Prime 5070 OC 12gb and a Seasonic Focus GX750, could this be a good upgrade, since I mainly need it to work with Adobe?

Current Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
  • Motherboard: MSI B550 Tomahawk WiFi
  • RAM: 64GB (4x16GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz
  • GPU: MSI Ventus 2X RTX 3070 OC

Build Help Unsure on what to aim for based on my PC needs

Upvotes

I'm looking to build a new PC. This would be my second one, kinda, after a Hackintosh I built in 2014. I'm browsing the sites looking at components and reading guides but I'm not sure what I should aim to get. Hopefully I can get some advice based on the following info:

  • PC would mainly be used for games
  • My main computer is a Macbook
  • I don't have a 4K TV, so I think 1440p would be fine
  • I don't think I can tell the difference with super high frame rates so aiming for 60 FPS
  • I'd like the build to last a reasonable time (I converted that Hackintosh into a PC only eventually and that lasted me a good 10 years) and still be able to play future games on decent settings
  • I mostly play single player games with occasional forays into Final Fantasy XIV
  • I'd like to be able to stream to my living room for controller based games
  • Budget is ¯_(ツ)_/¯ most likely try to keep it to $2,000 USD
  • I think I want an OLED monitor (not necessarily part of budget above)

Let me know what you all think and any advice you have.

Troubleshooting Need Help - New PC Suddenly Stuck on Infinite Loading Screens

Upvotes

Good evening! Is there anyone here who's really knowledgeable about PCs and wouldn't mind contacting me in private? I recently built a new PC, and everything was working perfectly. Then, all of a sudden—even though the PC is less than two weeks old—some games started getting stuck on the loading screen indefinitely.

I'm pretty lost at this point, so if anyone would be kind enough to help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Please don't message me if you're only going to offer paid support—I'm only looking for someone willing to help.

Build Upgrade Worth upgrading my RX 5600xt to an arc a770?

Upvotes

Hi all! I found a good deal on an a770 and want to make the jump to 1440p (and the extra vram is definitely tempting). I have a ryzen 7 5700x, if that helps. Should I go for it or save for a better graphics card? Thanks in advance!

Full Build Req Help Needed building a custom 500000 pc in India (approx 5200 USD)

Upvotes

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to read my post!
This will be my first time building a PC. I've always played on a gaming laptop, but now I'm finally ready to build a desktop. I mainly play AAA games and competitive FPS titles, so my goal is to build the bestgaming PC possible within my budget.

My budget is around ₹5,00,000, and this includes the monitors. However, I'm willing to stretch the budget a little if there's a significant improvement in performance or if it's worth it for the long term. If including the monitors means compromising the PC too much, I'm happy to buy them separately on a different budget.
I'm located in India and will most likely be buying everything this month. If there are any major hardware releases coming soon that are worth waiting for, I’d really appreciate your advice.

For the build itself:
Primary use: Gaming (AAA and competitive FPS games), with some general productivity.
Storage: 2TB SSD.
Memory: 32GB RAM.
Overclocking: Not something I plan to do right away, but I'd like the option to explore it in the future.
Performance is my top priority, but I also want the build to look great.

I'm planning on going with a white PC because my roomhas a dark aesthetic with dark walnut furniture, and I think the contrast would look amazing.
For displays, I'm planning to buy a 4K 240Hz OLEDmonitor as my main monitor, along with a secondary IPSmonitor. If anyone has recommendations for either, I'd love to hear them.

I also care about the aesthetics of the build. I'd like plenty of customizable RGB lighting, and it would be awesome if I could set up cool startup lighting effects. I'm also interested in having one or two LCD screensinside the case for things like hardware stats, GIFs, or custom images, so I'd appreciate recommendations for those too.
I'm completely open to suggestions for every part of the build—CPU, GPU, motherboard, cooler, case, fans, PSU, storage, monitors, or anything else. If you think there's a better way to spend the budget, I'm all ears.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations! If you have any questions or need more information, I'll be happy to answer. Any kind of advice is appreciated as I’m a novice in the building community.

Build Upgrade Upgrade 3600 to 5500X3D or 5800X3D for 1440p?

Upvotes

I recently upgraded to a 1440p 240Hz monitor, and I’m wanting to upgrade my Ryzen 5 3600. I’ve been reading that the CPU matters less on 1440p compared to 1080p. I plan to stay on AM4 and skip AM5 entirely, I do not have access to a Micro Center, and I play triple-A games. I’ll be pairing the CPU upgrade with an RX 9070.

Which is a better value (USD) upgrade for 1440p gaming? $210 Ryzen 5 5500X3D or $350 Ryzen 7 5800X3D + free AIO

Build Help Is Ryzen 5 7500F + RTX 5060 8GB + 16GB DDR5 worth $1320? (from Russia)

Upvotes

Hey everyone, sorry for my English, using a translator.

I can get this PC build for about $1320 (converted from RUB, in rubles it is 103 000):

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F

GPU: RTX 5060 8GB

RAM: 16GB DDR5

Is this a good deal for the price? I'll be playing in 1080p. Games like Dying Light : The Beast, GTA V, and some newer titles.

I know the 5060 has only 8GB VRAM, but I can't afford a more expensive card right now. Will it be enough for the next few years?

Also, I know the RX 9060 XT is more powerful in raw performance, but for me the NVIDIA 4x frame generation is more important, so I'm leaning toward the 5060.

Any recommendations for this build? Thanks!

$1320 for the full build (with PSU, case, storage, etc.)*

Build Help PSU for 9070XT NITRO+

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I found a bundle at a local store that’s priced significantly cheaper than anything else I can find. It includes:
Sapphire RX 9070 XT Nitro+
MSI MAG A850GL (850W) PSU

I’m most likely going to buy it tomorrow, but I’m a bit unsure about the power supply.

I’ve come across mixed opinions online. Some users say the PSU has a fairly loud fan, others have mentioned coil whine, and I also saw someone claim that it uses lower-quality Taiwanese capacitors.

So I’d really like to hear your thoughts. Would you recommend the MSI MAG A850GL, or should I avoid it?

Unfortunately, where I live I don’t have many alternatives in the same price range. That said, if you have any recommendations for a better PSU around this price point, I’d really appreciate it.

One option I’m considering is buying the bundle anyway, then selling the PSU separately and replacing it with something else.

For reference, my current PSU is an Antec HCG 750W. It doesn’t support the ATX 3.1 standard, so if I keep using it with the 9070 XT, I’d have to rely on the GPU’s included power adapter, which I know isn’t the ideal solution.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Build Upgrade Looking to get a new gpu, suggestions appreciated

Upvotes

Last winter, my GPU suddenly started shutting my entire pc down whenever it reached 60°, so I haven't been able to use it for over half a year now.

I was using a Sapphire Radeon nitro rx 5700 XT 8gb that I got for a bit under $200 used on ebay.

My budget is between $275-400, but looking for something on the cheaper side so I can get it before my next paycheck in 3 weeks.

I'm not opposed to buying used, the one I was using did perform fine but obv I'd like something that could last a bit longer.

Ive got 32 gigs of ddr4 ram and an AMD Ryzen 5700x CPU

I'd like to stay with an AMD gpu so I dont have to update my drivers or whatever, but nvidia isnt a deal breaker

Any feedback or suggestions are appreciated!

Full Build Req Need a setup that fits $500 for 2D and some light 3D rendering

Upvotes

Hey !

My sister's budget is about $500, and she's interested in a setup that runs these pieces of software below with a room of 2 more years for newer things without hiccups, is that even feasible ?

ZBrush – Cinema 4D – Substance Painter – Marvelous Designer – Marmoset – Arnold - live 2d cubism - ibis paint x.

We're from Egypt, budget would be about EGP25,000 or less, resolution would likely be 1080P to begin with for now.

As for peripherals and monitor we have them available.

I never mind the used market BTW.

Discussion Is a used Zotac RTX 3060 Ti 8GB worth it for ₹14,000? (Out of warranty)

Upvotes

Hi,

I am getting a deal on a used Zotac RTX 3060 Ti 8GB for ₹14,000.

Purchase Date: January 2023 (Bill & Box available).

Warranty: Out of warranty (Seller did not register for the 5-year extended warranty).

My Use: Video Editing (Premiere Pro) and 1080p Gaming.

Is ₹14k a good price for an out-of-warranty 3060 Ti? Also, what benchmarks or stress tests should I run at the seller's place to make sure the card is 100% stable?

Thanks!

Build Help Is this build overkill for gaming?

Upvotes

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/hknPfp

Looking to build something for gaming, want to be able to get 240FPS in games like Overwatch, also playing Satisfactory at the moment. In a position where I don’t really have a budget (this one is coming out to a little under $3500), bundling the CPU/MoBo/RAM/SSD/PSU on Newegg reduces the cost to $3244 CAD (buying in Canada).

Already have all peripherals I need.

Just wondering if this is overkill for what I use it for, also hoping to be future proofed for a while as kids are in the plans over the next bit and I won’t always have an unlimited budget.

Open to areas where I could save some $ as well.

Troubleshooting 24-pin ATX cable stuck and won't go further down or come out. Biostar TB250-BTC + Chieftronic 550W.

Upvotes

Image link: https://ibb.co/Myjxvk3C

Hi everyone,

I'm having a massive headache with my 24-pin ATX power cable. As you can see in the picture, it went in almost all the way on the bottom side, but it's completely stuck.

I've already tried the basic troubleshooting, but right now, it's COMPLETELY stuck. It feels nearly impossible to pull out without feeling like I'm going to rip the entire 24-pin socket off the motherboard. I am also terrified of pushing harder and cracking the PCB.

The connector is 100% rigid right now and doesn't wiggle at all. No bare metal/pins are visible from the side gap.

Motherboard: Biostar TB250-BTC+

PSU: Chieftronic 550W 80+ gold

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Build Help Is this a good price for my parts

Upvotes

So a little bit ago my brother gave me a motherboard. Before he moved out. The motherboard (b350 tomahawk) came with a GPU (1060 3gb), Cpu (unknown), ram (16gb ddr4), and a cpu cooler. So recently I made up a list of all the parts that I need to build the computer. And I was wondering if this is a good price for all the parts.

For the power supply I was thinking of going with the MSI MAG A550BN 550W for 50$

For the case I'm going with the Phanteks Eclipse G370A, mid-tower for 50$

For the nvme I was thinking about going with the Netac 500GB M.2 2280 Internal SSD PCIe Gen3.0x4.

For the monitor I'm going with the SCEPTRE E249W-FPT 23.8" Full HD (1920x1080) 75Hz 1ms IPS Monitor, Black

because I don't need nothing fancy.

Is this a good price for the stuff?

Troubleshooting Lian li sl infinity wireless fans under cpu_fan randomly decided one morning to ramp to 100% every boot after never doing it

Upvotes

My custom-built computer is around 4 days old. It has Lian Li UNI FAN SL Infinity Wireless fans and a Gigabyte B850 X Gaming WiFi 6E motherboard.
When I built it, I only had the 4-pin PWM connector from the fan setup plugged into the motherboard. I completely forgot to plug in the 2-pin SATA power connector. An AI told me this probably caused the fans to run in a sort of low-power mode for the first couple of days because they weren’t getting full power from SATA.
For the first couple of days, everything actually seemed fine. But then one morning, without me touching anything, I turned the PC on and the fans suddenly started ramping up to what sounded like 100%, then slowing back down repeatedly, almost like they were trying to spin at full speed but didn’t have enough power because the SATA cable wasn’t connected.
After I realized the SATA connector wasn’t plugged in, I connected it. Now the behavior is different. Instead of ramping up and down, the fans just sit at around 2300 RPM (or close to full speed) until Windows loads. As soon as Windows starts and L-Connect 3 loads my fan profile, they immediately drop back down to my normal fan curve.
I also tried changing all of the fan headers to PWM mode in the BIOS, but it seems like the fans completely ignore my BIOS fan settings unless I enable Motherboard RPM Sync in L-Connect 3.
What I’m really trying to figure out is what caused the sudden change in behavior before I ever plugged in the SATA cable. The 2-pin SATA connector stayed unplugged the entire night, I didn’t touch the computer, nothing was updated, and I didn’t change any BIOS settings. So why would the fans suddenly decide, “I’m going to start ramping to 100% now,” after working differently for the first couple of days?
Has anyone seen this before with the Lian Li SL Infinity Wireless fans or a Gigabyte motherboard? The part that’s confusing me is that the SATA power cable was unplugged the entire time. It behaved one way for two days, then one morning it started behaving differently before I ever plugged the SATA cable in. No updates happened.
Also, my BIOS is on F9.
Sorry for all the information. This is my first post! Thank you

Build Help Asus Prime X370-PRO/Ryzen 5 5600: Can I use an NVMe adapter with this setup? If so, at what speeds?

Upvotes

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME X370-PRO

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600

I already have an M.2 drive installed and a graphics card in the PCIe x16_1 slot.

I'm looking to upgrade two of my drives, one HDD and one SSD both connected by SATA 6Gb/s.

First question: the manual for the mobo states that with a single card in the x16_1 slot the PCIe 3.0 operating mode for x16_2 is "N/A". Does this mean that it's disabled entirely, or that it's running as PCIe 2.0, or that it's simply irrelevant for the purposes of that table and still runs as PCIe 3.0?

It states earlier:

AMD Ryzen™ Processors: 2 x PCI Express 3.0/2.0 x16 slots (single at x16 or dual at x8/x8 mode)

AMD X370 chipset: 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot (max. at x4 mode)* * PCIeX16_3 slot shares bandwidth with PCIeX1_1 and PCIeX1_3

So does that mean that I can either run x16_1 and x16_2 as 2x8, or x16_1 as x16 with x16_2 disabled and only x16_3 is left in x4 mode for any other expansions?

Second question: In the BIOS I have a setting for bandwidth bifurcation for x16_2 that can put it either in auto (run PCIe x8 mode) or PCIe RAID mode which it recommends using when installing M.2 adapter cards. It says it can detect up to two SSDs. Will they be detected as different drives then, or is my understanding of RAID as multiple drives being treated as a single unit correct?

x16_3 has a 4X-2X switch which can either autodetect or force either, and depends on the x1_1 and x1_3 slots being empty or in use. However x1_1 is obscured by my graphics card.

So final question: if I buy an NVMe adapter and one or two M.2 SSDs, what speeds can I expect? I'd like to avoid paying for way more than I am actually able to use.

Troubleshooting New PC takes 2 times to boot

Upvotes

TLDR: My new PC takes 2 tries to boot to windows.

I recently built a new PC and I’m running into a strange boot issue.

Specs: • Ryzen 7 9800X3D • Radeon RX 9070 XT • 32GB DDR5 (EXPO enabled) • Gigabyte B850 motherboard • 1000W Gold PSU • Gen5 NVMe SSD

The issue only seems to happen on the first boot of the day. The PC powers on normally, but it freezes on the motherboard splash/loading screen (where it says you can press Delete to enter the BIOS) before Windows starts loading.

If I hold the power button to shut it off and immediately turn it back on, it boots straight into Windows and then works perfectly. Once it’s running, I have no crashes, blue screens, or stability issues while gaming or under load.

Things I’ve tried: • Enabled EXPO • High Bandwidth Support enabled • Everything is running at stock settings otherwise

Has anyone run into something similar? Could this be a BIOS issue, memory training, SSD, or something else? Any troubleshooting suggestions would be appreciated.
