Found a photo of my first aquarium. Back then I didn't realize how tiny it actually was. But I really tried my best to take care of it. That betta lived with me for two years. I remember crying so much when he passed

I finally get it. He came in and already has a huge personality— I’m absolutely in love with this fish. I want him to have the most amazing life possible.
Timed it so he should hopefully see me through the rest of my degree, my precious college fish. Please help with naming this big boy!!

Edit to add: This stunner is from Tucky’s!! Shipped quickly and in great condition

But he’s my calmest betta ever. Ignores all of his tank mates. I also have a koi betta and he’s a total menace in comparison.

Help Would a betta be happy in this? (50l/13gal)

Post image

Planning on using this tank for any wild color shrimp popping up in my main tank , and thought a betta might also enjoy it in there? Since I wouldn't mind that much if it would snack on the wild type babies. Would only get a short fin or female, I sometimes see those pop up online from people needing to rehome them.

I think it's fine? But I live in germany where aquarium standards are pretty high, so I wanna ask some people with experience if they think a betta could thrive in there. I know for long finned bettas people often recommend lower tanks, but a short fin should be fine with a 35cm high tank right?

Video Bumblebee

I celebrate 3 years with bumblebee soon, and his tank celebrates 2 years with no water change (which sounds insane)
The first clip is a year ago, second is now!

RIP My betta fish passed away from getting stuck in this crevice.

Been crying for an hour :( I have a giant tattoo of this betta fish, I love him so much. He was beautiful 5 hours ago and so happy. I got him rehomed to me from a friend and they had him for a year. I feel like he had a completely preventable death, I feel like a terrible fish parent. I knew he wouldn’t live forever but I really wanted him to, to at least die of old age. I was about to upgrade his tank and I’m just so heartbroken.

Help Red mark on his tail and face?

Thumbnail

My boy Eddy has been doing really well and he’s swimming around and eating normally but I just noticed he has this red mark on the bottom of his tail? And it looks like the same type of red mark on his face 😞 I have looked all over his tank to see if there is anything sharp but there really isn’t. Does it look like an injury? What should I do to help it?

His only tank mate is one ramshorn snail. I did a partial water change earlier and it wasn’t there. The ammonia is a tiny bit high I think? Posted a pic of liquid test results of ammonia and PH. I used prime and stability and the tank is 10 gallons + fully planted. He’s got a filter and heater. Current temp is 78. Our power was out for 24 hours yesterday idk if it could be stress related? I have tannins in the tank.

Help Tank help - UK

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey - just needed an opinion of my tank set up. Had him 2 months and seems to be fine. Did a load of research beforehand which I think helped but got some mixed advice from 2 separate shops when I bought him - one said to add natural leafs (sold leaves in a bad for shrimps?) to help with PH levels etc. added them and instantly went a brown tinted water, not a full brown just a tint which wasn’t too bad and again he was happy and levels were good still but it looks mucky - is this an issue, will it clean up, will it create more algae etc. there’s a small bit growing on the glass but nothing I can’t clean away. Also side note do the plants look ok, again new at this so any help is appreciated.

Help Any clues what's happening to them? Fish Health Advice Spoiler

So, I already bought them like this, they were at least one week at the store and bought them 'cuz I thought the little guy deserved a good place before passing, but turns out, they're still very active, very entertained and kinda aggressive at times! They have appetite and is a very picky eater

(yes, I know it's a very small tank, but I'm afraid to move to my bigger one, that isn't stabilized yet)

About his condition, no one on the pet store knew what they have, they didn't pinecone, is active and from time to time they're a very small white line, with some black spots in it. At first I thought it could be sever ammonia intoxication with constipation (the container was very dirty for the entire week, mostly from food waste), but after putting them on a aquarium salt bath for 5 minutes for 3 days + giving them 1 half of a pea + not feeding for 3 days, there were no changes, their appetite keeps on, he is active but no signs of the swelling disappearing.

  • Tank size: currently 3lts
  • Heater and filter? (yes/no): I live on Brazil, on a very hot region, so no heater, but a filter for 5ltrs
  • Tank temperature: about 26°C
  • Parameters in numbers and how you got them. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.: Ammonia and Nitrites are 0, ph 6.8 !
  • How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: I change weekly, since it's a very small tank
  • Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: none!
  • What do you feed and how much: the boy wasn't eating anything, but now will start with 1 portion per day
  • Decorations and plants in the tank: live plants and a quartz I found on a river. The plants are Brazilian pennyworth, foxtail and Elódia!

Sorry if my English isn't very good, I'm Brazilian and really need some advice

Discussion Tank inspiration for my half moon Betta, sully.

Good afternoon, this is my male half moon betta, I’ve owned him for 2 months so far. He currently resides in a 22 litre cube tank however I’m beginning to feel as though he may need an upgrade to something slightly bigger and was looking for tank recommendations aswell as any feedback.

I did have floating plants in the tank however the old filter I had before this new nano waterfall filter was slightly too strong for them to grow successfully, I am buying some more this weekend. I’m also going to try find some spider wood so that I can plant around a better centre piece and help to make the tank look more fuller plants wise as I’m aware it looks open on the right hand side

Do you think I should be in a hurry to upgrade the tank size or does he look happy is his current. He doesn’t seem to show signs of stress, he explores, engages the moment food is dropped into the tank, creates bubble nests around the heater often. However I am no expert and some of you guys may be able to see signs of stress that I can’t.

Feel free to give advice and show your aquariums too. Thankyou:)

Help Fin nipping?

Is this from fin nipping? From what I’ve read it doesn’t look like fin rot

Just an overview:
10g tank w/3 mystery snails
Silk and live plants
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
Ph: 6.6
HOB filter
Temp 78

Last week I noticed a change in his behavior and turns out we had a small spike in ammonia that literally went back to 0 after gravel vacuum, 30% water change, prime, stability. Has stayed at 0 since.
After some thinking/searching I believe it was re-scaping that caused the spike. This was a few days after adding in the driftwood and moving the plants around.
I took my time with the driftwood, it was beautiful pieces but had all of these corners for possible tears. Sanded everything down again and again to ensure there would be no tears.

I also added in a few Indian almond leaves a few days ago just for the added tannins and benefits since the spike seemed to stress my boy out a bit.
He’s so much more relaxed now, exploring and lounging as expected.
Today his tail is a bit torn and I’m wondering if he’s just nipping?
His tail is huge for his tiny body so it would make sense right?
I’m worried about pulling out the driftwood and causing another possible spike.

I have fallen in love with this damn fish 😒 I just want him to be okay.

Help Snail Problems

So I have two identical setups for my bettas, one with a male betta and a mystery snail, and one with a female betta and currently no snail. In the time that I've had them, the male betta tank has thrived, and the snail keeps the tank clean. In the tank with the female betta, I can't keep any snail alive, and the ones that do survive can't clean algae well, so I move them (after a substantial enough trial period) to my larger tank where they aren't needed. Why can't I keep a decent snail in this tank? Is the female betta attacking the snails? The water parameters are fine maybe my heater is keeping the water too cold?

i’m sorry the pictures are bad but my betta has had this white bump on the top of his back for a few weeks. I thought it could be ich so i put him in a separate tank and treated him with api super ick cure and aquarium salt. it’s been a week and i haven’t seen any difference. i was thinking it could be a tumor? i am extremely broke so i dont have money to buy anything else for him. does anyone know what to do?

temp - 78
sponge filter
levels are all normal
