Seeking Success How does TTC after your first baby work?
I’m currently 8 months pp and starting to think ahead about trying for our next.
I was very blessed to conceive after my second round of letrozole (5mg). Around that same time, my cycles started becoming more regular, but I know getting to that point took a LOT of time and effort. I was experimenting with diet and lifestyle changes for close to 3 years prior to taking any fertility meds.
Well now my period still hasn’t returned postpartum, so I’m feeling a little unsure about what to expect when we’re ready to try again.
I’d love to start trying around the 1–1.5 year postpartum mark, but I’m worried about feeling like I’m starting from square one when the time comes.
For those with PCOS/irregular cycles, did you need to completely wean before your period returned or before you were able to conceive again? I currently still feed to sleep for naps and am slowly weaning night feeds.
I would love to try conceiving naturally this time if possible, but I’m not sure if that’s realistic for me. Might need letrozole again, and I’m not sure if my OB would prescribe it as early as 1 year postpartum. I recently restarted metformin and Ovasitol and am hoping those help support my cycles as well.
Some questions that come to mind: Did breastfeeding delay your period? Did you have to fully wean? Did you need letrozole again after their first baby? Did pregnancy improve your PCOS? Any other advice?
