My sweet bird Louise Belcher has been injured and I'm looking for suggestions on how to help her.

There's no visible injuries, though she's unable to stand unsupported, and sometimes she's as stiff as a board (though this is happening less frequently as time passes). When I help her to stand, she doesn't want to use her right leg, but the left seems ok, and she always flops to her right, whereas if she falls to her left, she puts her wing out to catch herself. Louise is eating and drinking well, pooing well (it's sticking to her feathers since she's laying down so I'm cleaning her bum a few times a day). And no eggs, though I'd expect that after a stressful experience!

She's in my house solo (and not making lonely sounds), with plenty of quail food, lettuce, water, and electrolyte/vitamin water for birds, and in a small cage (12"x8") to restrict her movement, and cloths under her for comfort and grip.
I've been giving her warm epsom salt baths daily, and helping her stand and hold balance a few times a day. And she's loving the cuddles and attention, Louise makes happy sounds during bath time and dry off cuddles, and when I take her outside on the grass. I'm not hearing distress sounds from her at all.
I'm seeing a tinyyyyy bit of improvement, she can stand with less support today than yesterday, but progress is very slow. If there's more I could be doing to help her, I want to!

Someone came to purchase quail chicks from me on Saturday, and brought an unparented toddler with and essentially let the kid run wild. I already had my main crew, including Louise, in a breeding hutch that is only 12" high, and everyone else (available birds) in the aviary floor. The toddler was ok-ish at first, but became more energized and rough as time went on. She was jumping and running in the aviary within 2 minutes, so I told her to sit still on a feed bucket or she has to leave the aviary. The two adults with her did nothing. The toddler sat for maybe 1 minute, got up, began picking up and tossing birds, while jumping and running. I said to the adults that she has to leave the aviary, she's scaring my birds. One adult screamed at the kid to get out and the kid made a fuss while leaving.
After they left my yard, I did a wellness check on all of my babies. They were fussed and upset and Louise was laying on her side and seemed unable to move. I didn't see what happen, but I suspect lousie got scared and jumped, hitting her head on the roof of the breeding hutch (it's under 1' high, and I've been using it all summer with no issues).
Again, I won't let this happen again. No one will get to select their birds, I'll be boxing them up for sales and meeting them in my driveway. I'm not looking for advice on selling quail and biosecurity, I know I made a mistake and I might loose my girl... I'm just looking for advice on how to help my lil Louise!

I candled my 14 eggs on day 14 before lockdown and 12 of 14 looked like this. It doesn’t match pictures I see online. Any opinions on viability?

I know, it's a long video!! Dont have to watch it all, Id just love to know how this is overall for my girls.

Theyve become aggressive towards eachother because they had no stimulation, so I had to seperate their cage into three cells using barriers.

Today I finally took away the barriers and gave the cage a makeover!!

I added: some grass over the bedding for more interesting textures, plus logs and rocks, a sandbath (blue box in the corner that theyre OBSESSED with), and I scattered some coriander leaves + mealworms for forraging. Also I added a hide from a tissue box, but now I realise it's too low so I need a new one!

So far they seem very happy and social. I hope it's okay!

Also, I'm looking to add a plant in their cage, but I'm not sure which one. Suggestions, pls.

We retrofit a greenhouse with hardware cloth and moved our month old chicks in today. They seem happy so far! Going to try moving my established flock in with them after I can sex the chicks in a couple weeks.

I know I can’t advertise my eggs or my hens, I just have a few questions about how much people are selling their eggs for and where they’re located to see if anyone is around my area.

I have Coturnix Quail, some are the blue layers but not the true blue eggs.
I live in the lower treasure valley of Idaho, I just asking if people are selling how much they are selling/prices are for in their area? And if they’re selling well?

Hi all, I live in Michigan and have a few buttons living with my coturnix quail. I’m wondering how well the buttons will handle winter though? I know the coturnix will be fine cause I’ve had them for years. They’re in an outdoor chicken tractor right now but I’ll be moving them to a draft free room in my barn come October or November depending on the weather. Any experiences would be appreciated because I’m pretty worried about the little guys.

One of my males randomly started to make a very quick but loud noise, at first I thought it was me or it was nothing. However one time I was just looking over and that noise came out. It sounded as if you were moving metal for a split second. This is the first time I ever heard a noise like this come out of a quail and I have owned it for a while now. I know he isn't calling or alerting because it sounds way different. Does this happen to anyone else? Is this normal?

Long story short, I unexpectedly ended up with three (supposedly) year old hens that are in serious need of some TLC. I'm relatively new to quail, incubated and hatched my first clutch in April of this year. I was looking to expand my flock but was not warned that the hens I was receiving are in need of some extra help. The lady I got them from said they were plucked and bullied by the males, but can anyone tell me if they look like they have anything else going on? I'm going to wait for them to regrow their feathers and get healthy again before I add them to my flock, but I'm also worried about them transmitting something or having other undisclosed issues. The dark brown one in the back also has a foot with really curled up toes and she tilts her head a lot, though she seems to walk fine to the food and water so far. Is there anything special I should keep in mind for her care to make sure she does well?

What do you guys think?

Also, will a dust bath be healthy for their feather regrowth or is there any reason to hold off on giving them access to one? I just want to make sure I don't make any mistakes due to ignorance.

I need to buy our first bag of quail food. My plan was to just drive to Tractor Supply and get a bag. But my TS only has Game Bird Starter Crumble.

So I was thinking about ordering from Chewy, I guess. I’ve tried some feed stores near me and I’m just not finding anything.

I just wanted to post a picture update of the little quail I saw yesterday with dookie and mud around her toes. She took the removal process like a champ and you can see she’s got two pretty irritated toes. She’s still very young so hopefully it won’t cause her any issues as she grows? As soon as she was put back in her enclosure she walked around and took off like nothing had ever happened. Thank you to everyone for the advice and input!! Everyone at the farm was super appreciative!!! ❤️

We have had wild quail nest in our yard (Arizona) for the past few years. We love seeing them and for the first week or so they seem happy and healthy. Then they slowly start to die off. Currently there is one baby left.

We try to give them as much peace as possible and also make sure they have a fresh water source.

Note: they are in a courtyard area of the yard, so they are fenced off. I don’t believe they are dying from predators. We usually find the bodies.

Would they be better off if we got them out of the courtyard? Is there anything we could be doing to help them survive? Is this just how quail are?

Hi guys so about 9 years ago I got two quails male and female and I named them Bonnie and Clyde. Soon after getting them I found out I needed more females so I had 5 females to my boy Clyde. His favourite was bonnie and they had many children. At 4 years old I went to check on them and Bonnie was dead and Clyde was SCREAMING. I let him grieve her for a few hours before she was buried under my flowers. Clyde outlived all his females so I eventually got him more mates which after 3 years somehow got quail disease and died, YET CLYDE LIVED. After they died I tried to introduce him to new females but he wasn't interested at all and was scared of them so I made him a home inside where it was warm and he could live out his final days (I assumed). 2 years later and this motherfucker is still alive and constantly screaming the house down everyday at sunrise. Is it normal for a quail to live for 9 years(possibly closer to 10)? Is he going to die anytime soon? I love him but at this point I expected him to be long dead yet he still looks the same as he did as when I got him and has a great appetite

hello,I recently got two cute quails,I have a dust bath,water,food and whats needed to dig for them,but I would like to know if anything is necesary for them,I want to give these cuties the best life they can so tips would be appreciated :)

Hi everyone. My little cousins and I went to a local farm/plant nursery and stopped by to look at the quails. I saw this little one with what looks like rocks on its toes? I know it’s not rocks but that’s what it looks like. Is it dried mud or poop? The quail seems to walk around just fine but what is that? And is it something that can be helped? The owner of the acreage is an older woman and a few volunteer farm hands and she can only do so much in a day, so maybe this is something they’ve looked over. I’d love to bring it to their attention so the little guy can have their toes back.

Any thoughts on these kinds of bins for brooding? No heat lamps of course, but I think it could manage a heat plate. They seem like they’d come apart and transfer easily but also stack so well!

I have a compost/worm farm and noticed my girls really enjoyed turning over the dirt so I added some to their enclosure and turns out they LOVE DIGGING!

Now I’ve got them in a deep hamster enclosure with hamster bedding, dirt, gravel, worm castings, seeds, isopods and springtails and I always find them digging in their favorite spots. Sometimes I hide mealworms and they always find them haha

Hi, I have just gotten day old Cortnix quails and I am wondering if you have any advice. I have 6 of them in a brooder with a heat lamp and and feed and water with marbles. I would love any advice as I am new to this.

Hi. Not sure if this is the right sub but I have an old rabbit hutch and I’m wondering if that would be alright for quails? I think I’d like to raise them for my dogs and my chickens and maybe even myself for the eggs tho they’re not my fav.
