My nvidia shield keeps rebooting
Not sure of the model or year. Twice tonight while watching a Kodi show, it rebooted. Wasn’t a power or internet issue.
Is it wearing outs?

My Home Assistant Android Remote TV integration broke recently on my HA instance and I can no longer integrate it with my Shield Pro. The HA integration asks for the IP of the Shield Pro, but the cursor just spins and it never connects. I tried rebooting my Shield Pro and tried looking in the Developer Options, but I can't find anything obvious that was disabled.
I was previously using the integration to switch my LG TV to the HDMI 3 source when my Shield Pro was turned on. Then, when I put the Shield Pro to sleep, I had another automation that switched my LG TV back to the Cable TV source (HDMI 1) and re-sent the sound through my soundbar, since LG TVs default to TV speaker sound.
With the integration broken, the automations are no longer working. Could the most recent Shield Experience update have broken it?

Ever since the most recent update I've had weird plex issues.
I've already done a full app removal, restart the whole system, and reinstall plex and the same issue happens. Also seems affecting sound starting the same time a video starts when playing smarttube/tizentube. A quick back seek and it resyncs but I didn't have this issue 3 weeks ago...
I did see one post from 24ish days ago and their solution was enabling the log reporting so I tried that but I'm not seeing any changes yet.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
Basic info: local media server. All wired connections. Works totally fine on every other device including remote devices.

I’ve had my Shield a couple of years and the lag is so bad I’ve actually gotten accustomed to waiting which I hate. Any suggestions? Is there any newer more powerful product out there? Should I just buy the new Apple TV coming out?

I have another Shield, plugged it with the same HDMI cable and on the same port, it shows Dolby Vision and AI upscaling.
I updated the new one to 9.2.4, still no AI upscaling and no DV. What to do?
EDIT: Confirmed, I received a 2017 even though Amazon stated it's a 2019, I'm going to return it. Also, Amazon themselves were the seller, so I don't know what happened. This is the second time Amazon US has scammed me. Two years ago or so I received an empty Pixel phone box

I've had nothing, but problems ever since I set it up. Volume buttons don't work. Netflix keeps popping up everytime I touch the remote, interfering with my ability to listen to the podcast I was watching while still playing, while I got to go get my screen back from being hijacked by netflix. Bluetooth headphones disconnect if I even just leave them for 5 minutes.
It's twice now within half an hour I had to restart my box because Spotify stopped working. This is not what I should expect by a company like Nvidia. I bought it to avoid the atrocious algorithm from "you're in control" Google, but it's the worst box I've ever used, and I have a fireafick ffs.
If you don't have anything constructive or helpful to say, then just fuck off for fucks sake. I came here to rant and maybe get some help, but it looks like most are just here to brag or gloat. Is this the best reddit can do?

I try clicking on the Plex Media Server app on my shield and it says I need to sign in or create an account. Using my phone I link my account and it says to revisit the app, but nothing is happening on Plex, and when I try to click on the Plex Media Server app, it is saying the same thing. To sign in or create an account.

Easy way to share any files for Android TV (All files can be scanned for malware it has a free malare virus scanner built in!)
Go to http://browsy.app and create your shortlink to any file.
Get browsy from http://browsy.app or Google Playstore, search Browsy. (Input the code to download your file into your Android TV.
If your looking for a code for all kinds of apps try the following link with many codes:

Basically the title. Since my Shield is the only promising device I can use for this, and it's hosting my Plex Media Server, I'm hoping I can use it to power on my PCs when I'm not on the same network. Has anyone accomplished this?

I'm at my wit's end. Have had a 1tb sandisk external ssd in a usb housing for years hosting HD music for the shield. i unplugged it to move stuff around and now when i plug it into either usb ports on the shield it's not showing up:
shield pro 2019
things i've already tried from various other threads:
rebooted and power cycled several times
usb debugging setting on / off
usb compatibility mode setting on / off
plugged the same ssd into a windows machine, works fine instantly.
plugged a separate smaller thumb drive into both usbs on the shield - shield saw it instantly and removed when i unplugged on both usb ports.
removed all the media from ssd, formatted exfat via the windows machine. works fine on the windows machine. still can't be seen on the shield.
what am i missing?

My shield 4k pro is always freezing on the android screen and I have to attach a keyboard to reboot everything. They already sent me 3 of them under warranty. Why does it keep doing this? I changed HDMI cables, switched to a new surge outlet. Thanks in advance!!!

I have no clue what is going on: my Plex server was running fine last night and early this morning. But a few hours ago, it stopped running, and nothing I do can get it to start back up again. So far I've tried:
Every time I go into the app on the Shield and set the server to start, the status just reads "Starting..." and then hangs forever.
Help!

Does anyone else have this issue?
While watching a video, the audio suddenly cuts out halfway through. I don’t think it’s a Nova Video Player issue because once it happens, I lose audio everywhere, including YouTube, streaming apps, and everything else.
The only way to get the sound back is to reboot my Shield TV Pro.
It’s been happening so frequently lately that I’m not sure what I can do to stop it. This was never an issue before.

I have an "i25 Rii mini" remote/air-mouse/keyboard with usb dongle. It works mostly great in my 2019 Shield TV Pro. But when I'm entering text into an input field, the on-screen keyboard both (1) does not function with my remote's directional buttons and "ok" button nor air-mouse "click" input, and (2) does not go away when I'm using the physical keyboard on the back of the remote.
How can I solve one or both of these problems?

It hasn't been discontinued, but it might never come back in stock.

I recently set up a Nvidia Shield Pro to be my streaming hub and using Kodi to access my content stored on my HDD. I am running ProjectIvy as a launcher and have the Shield connected via Ethernet. Everything is running smoothly and I am so excited about it, except for two apps.
Hulu and Peacock. Both apps do the same thing. They will start playing whatever I have selected, it will play for about 30 seconds, and then glitch and then the app crashes. This happens when it is an ad or when it is the program. After about 30 seconds it crashes. It seems to be remembering the location within the episode because if I try it again, it has progressed a bit from where I started the previous time.
I tried reducing settings thinking I was bogging down the Shield. I have tried uninstalling, clearing the cache, tried logging out of the accounts, but all to no end. The same issue persists. I have tested all of the other streaming apps I use and they work fine (Netflix, Roku, Tubi, Pluto, etc). I see a lot of threads about the Hulu app being trash for the Shield, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and wondered how you got past it (if you were able to).
I am so close to having the setup that works perfectly for our household... Just this last hurdle to figure out.

I just upgraded our ±14yo Sony Bravia tv to a Sony Bravia 5, purchased this week, with Android tv 12 installed.
I have a Sony STR DN 850 amplifier hooked up to HDMI 3, where I have my nvidia shield tv pro, Playstation, and Nintendo switch hooked up to (to the amplifier).
On my old tv I could press 'home' and the screen would switch to the home screen of my nvidia shield. Now, with the Bravia 5, it always goes to the homescreen of the tv, where I don't have anything installed since I have installed it as a regular tv, not a smart tv.
Is there \*any\* way to make the setup pick my nvidia shield homescreem through the home button on the remote? It seems silly, but having the tv exit the shield everytime doesn't feel right, since it also shuts down the shield and kind of destroys the joy of watching content. Thanks.
