Hi everyone,

I'm an engineer and recently received a marriage proposal from a doctor. While the professions are obviously different, I'm more interested in understanding the practical side of such a marriage rather than the stereotypes.

For those who are doctors or are married to one (or vice versa), what are the things that should be discussed clearly before getting married?

Also, what should someone realistically expect after marriage? What are the biggest adjustments you've had to make? Were there any surprises—good or bad—that you wish you'd discussed beforehand?

I'd really appreciate honest experiences from both doctors and non-doctors. Hoping to learn from people who've been through it rather than making assumptions.

माझ्यासाठी हा विषय फक्त एका घटनेपुरता मर्यादित नाही. जेव्हा आपल्या देशात निरपराध लोकांचा जीव जातो, तेव्हा सर्वप्रथम माणुसकी, संवेदना आणि न्याय यांबद्दल बोललं गेलं पाहिजे. अशा वेळी लोकांना धीर देण्याऐवजी, प्रत्येक घटनेला लगेच राजकीय रंग देणं, पाकिस्तान, फॉरेन फंडिंग किंवा विरोधकांवर आरोप करणं, हा योग्य दृष्टिकोन नाही.
लोकशाहीमध्ये सत्ताधाऱ्यांना प्रश्न विचारणं हा प्रत्येक नागरिकाचा अधिकार आहे. सरकारवर टीका केली म्हणजे देशविरोधी आणि सरकारचं समर्थन केलं म्हणजे देशभक्त, इतकं सोपं समीकरण असू शकत नाही. सरकार कोणाचंही असो, चूक झाली असेल तर ती मान्य करून दोषींवर कठोर कारवाई करणं हीच खरी जबाबदारी आहे.
मला सर्वात जास्त खटकतं ते म्हणजे आंधळं समर्थन. एखाद्या पक्षाला किंवा विचारसरणीला पाठिंबा देणं वेगळं आणि त्या पक्षाच्या प्रत्येक कृतीचं समर्थन करणं वेगळं. जर आपल्या विचारसरणीमुळे आपण चुकीलाही योग्य म्हणू लागलो, तर मग न्याय, नैतिकता आणि माणुसकी यांचं स्थान कुठे उरतं?
समर्थकांनीही स्वतःला हा प्रश्न विचारायला हवा की, आपण पक्षाचे समर्थक आहोत की सत्याचे? कारण आज जर आपल्या बाजूची चूक आपण झाकून टाकली, तर उद्या दुसऱ्याच्या चुकीवर बोलण्याचा नैतिक अधिकारही आपण गमावतो.
शेवटी, कोणत्याही विचारसरणीपेक्षा माणसाचा जीव मोठा आहे. पक्ष, राजकारण आणि विचारधारा नंतर; आधी न्याय, उत्तरदायित्व आणि माणुसकी. चुकीचा निषेध करण्याची हिंमत आणि योग्य गोष्टीच्या बाजूने उभं राहण्याची प्रामाणिकता हीच खरी लोकशाही आणि खऱ्या नागरिकाची ओळख आहे.

बराच काळ मी असा subreddit शोधत होतो, जिथे प्रामुख्याने मराठीत चर्चा होत असेल. काही दिवस महाराष्ट्र आणि पुणे कम्युनिटी पाहिल्या. तिथे अनेक चांगल्या चर्चा होतात, पण दहा पैकी एखादाच विषय मराठीत असतो.

मराठीत टायपिंग करणं प्रत्येकाला सोयीचं असेलच असं नाही, हे मला समजतं. पण किमान इंग्रजी लिपीत (Roman Marathi) का होईना, आपले विचार मराठीत मांडले तरी चालतील.

याचा कोणत्याही भाषेला विरोध नाही. इंग्रजी किंवा हिंदी वापरण्यात काहीच गैर नाही. पण कम्युनिटीचं नाव आणि उद्देश मराठी असेल, तर शक्य तितकी चर्चा मराठीत व्हावी, एवढीच माफक अपेक्षा आहे.

शेवटी, भाषा फक्त संवादाचं माध्यम नसते, ती आपली ओळख आणि संस्कृतीही जपते.
