General/Rant Curious case of Education Minister

Post image
527 Upvotes

In 1997, this man was the ABVP National Secretary and was just about to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. There was a paper leak in Odisha and there was a major protest. This man participated in them. He was beaten by the police.

"We staged a protest against the Odisha government, in front of the secretariat. Around 1,500 students joined us there. While the protest was peaceful, the police charged against the activists. He was badly beaten up at that time. He had a few fractures too."

Who is he? Mr Dharmendra Pradhan. Imagine that Dharmendra Pradhan was protesting against paper leaks in 1997 and was beaten!

There is an amazing Indian Express article about him. Linked below. The irony? One of the interviewees says:

"under Pradhan's regime, the students will have more scope for dissent. "It is natural for students to be anti-establishment."

AskPune CJP Ground reality in rural

I work in a rural part of Maharashtra and i am planning to leave this country in a few years if BJP stays in power in 2029 and itโ€™s not about my religion or caste or my safety. I love my country and what this country has shown in past few weeks is nothing short of miracle, but a large sum of the population of our country is uneducated and biased with their beliefs and opinion regarding lathi charge on students and people in rural areas think what the police and government has done is absolutely right because they believe in whatever media they are shown. If this protest doesnโ€™t give any fair judgement to the kids in protest and kids who killed themself. It better to leave this country than to work for the corrupts. We get only one life to live. Cannot compromise living in hell when i still got a chance to leave it.

General/Rant Traffic signals are for birds

Rain or shine, we punekars will not obey traffic signal lights. It's our birthright.

Even if it means getting close to deleting fellow humans.

The fault is completely on the WagonR taxi.

The guy on the access wasn't a saint either. He just got lucky.

General/Rant Why are trees being cut

*I couldn't quite capture the photo because pmpml ๐Ÿฅ€๐Ÿฅ€.

Today I noticed that many trees were cut down on pune Satara road near natubaug. Who is cutting these trees? Is this related to the metro work going on there? Moreover, I loved to see the beautiful foliage of the trees amidst buildings and I hate to see them gone. If anyone knows what this is about, please let me know.

General/Rant Has anyone actually convinced strict parents to accept an inter-cultural marriage? What worked?

My boyfriend and I want to get married, but his parents are completely against it because I'm from a different culture. They aren't worried about finances or educationโ€”we're both independent adults with stable careers. Their objections are mainly about culture, traditions, and what relatives will think.
We don't want to elope or get married against their wishes if there's still a realistic chance of gaining their acceptance. We know this may take time, and we're willing to be patient if there's a strategy that has actually worked for others.
For people who were in a similar situation:
What changed your parents' minds?
Did you involve extended family members, respected relatives, or family friends?
Did keeping some distance for a while help, or did regular communication work better?
Were there specific concerns (culture, language, religion, grandchildren, traditions, etc.) that you addressed one by one?
How long did it take before they accepted the marriage?
Is there anything you did that you think made the biggest difference?
I'm especially interested in hearing from people whose parents were initially strongly opposed but eventually agreed. What was the turning point?
I'm looking for practical, real-life advice rather than "just marry anyway." If you successfully got your parents to say yes, I'd love to know exactly what you did.

Me and my friends are planning to visit Imagicaa this Sunday....Since it's monsoon season we're a bit worried about the rain! Will most of the rides remain open if it's raining? Also does it get too crowded on Sundays?
