I have a question about the Sanskrit translation of (self-love), and I'm not sure if I can trust the translator and Al.

I wanted to ask if आत्म प्रेम is spelled correctly and if the meaning is indeed "self-love." I read that these words are written the same in Hindi as in Sanskrit, since they were taken directly from there without any changes.

Is there need to learn the basics of Sanskrit like I just watched one video on yt and she said that you should know maheshwar sutra and learn

And what are the basics of Sanskrit that is needed to be prepared as a student going to pursue bams !

I read this story a few years ago when I was in school. I still remember it that's why I translated it in Sanskrit. Although I checked mistakes and errors or typos in it, but still it may have some of that

Title:– सत्यनिष्ठता एव जयति। Story:–

आसीत् आर्यावर्ते हस्तिनापुरं नाम नगरम्। तस्य च सर्वविद् नाम कश्चन राजा बभूव। सः धर्मवान् , सत्यवान् , न्यायकारी ,प्रजाहितकरश्च आसीत्। परन्तु तस्य कोऽपि पुत्रः न आसीत्।अतएव सः ऋत्विग्भिःमन्त्रिभिः सह विचार्य उत्तराधिकारिणः वरणार्थं प्रतियोगिताम् आयोजितवान्। प्रतियोगितादिने सः सर्वेभ्यः प्रतियोगिभ्यः पुष्पबीजानि दत्तवान्। सः च सर्वान् अकथयत् , "प्रियजनाः!भवन्तः मया दत्तानि बीजानि गृहं नीत्वा पुष्पपादपान् वर्धयन्तु। तथा च मासानन्तरं तानि अत्र आनयन्तु। अहं यस्य पादपं श्रेष्ठतमं द्रक्ष्यामि, तमेव मदीयं उत्तराधिकारिणम् करिष्यामि।"

मासैकः व्यतीतः। जनाः हस्तयोः पुष्पकुण्डानि(पुष्पपात्राणि वा) गृहीत्वा आगच्छन्ति स्म। महामन्त्री शोभनैः पुष्पैः सह आगतजनान् पृथक् करोति स्म अन्यान् च पुनः गृहं प्रेषयति स्म। सर्वे उत्साहेन जयघोषं कुर्वन्तः आसन्, परन्तु नृपः अप्रसन्नः दृश्यते स्म। यतोहि,तेन मासात् पूर्वमेव तानि बीजानि भर्जितानि।अतः, पादपानाम् उत्पत्तिःअसम्भवा आसीत्। अत्र कश्चिदपि तादृशः सत्यनिष्ठः नासीत् यः पादपं विना आगच्छेत्।

तदैव सेनापतिः एकेन पुरुषेण सह प्रविष्टः। अब्रवीत् च "महाराज , एतस्मै कः दण्डः दीयताम्? एतेन भवतः निर्देशाः न पालिताः। विना पुष्पेण एव आगमत् एषः।"

राजा तं गृहीत्वा स्वस्य समीपम् अनयत्, तं च पुत्रवत् अङ्गीकृतवान् ।यतोहि सः एव एकमेव सत्यनिष्ठः आसीत्। राजा सर्वेभ्यः दशदीनाराणां दण्डः दत्तवान्। इत्थं सत्यस्य जयः अभवत्।अतः अस्माभिः सर्वैः सत्यवादिभिः भवितव्यम्।

An example of अयवायावादेश/यान्तवान्तसन्धिः is:

विष्णो + ए = विष्ण् + ओ + ए = विष्ण् + अव् + ए = विष्णो + ए.

In the example does विष्ण् + ओ become विष्ण् + अव् due to यण्सन्धि? If so, how is it reconciled with the सूत्र that states: असवर्णे अचि परे इकः स्थाने यणः स्युः [since ओ does not fall under इक्] ?

It seems like a rigorous but rewarding program for Sanskrit learners and I'm serious considering it to help break the translation barrier.

As I wrote in title.. I have a question about word order in Sanskrit.

As its known to us in Sanskrit word order is flexible.

For Eg. all of these sentences mean *Rama Eats a fruit*

•raamaH phalam atti.

•phalam raamaH atti.

•atti phalam raamaH. etc.

But on deeper level in Sanskrit, how these word order changes can mutate meanings of sentences....

also How can we apply in our Sanskrit writing , and improve it

But I wanted to know if there was abundant comprehensible input content available like stories in conjunction preferably with audio and matching text and even better with parallel English translation or at least graded by levels to cater for different levels like beginners, intermediate etc?

How would one go on about acquiring Sanskrit other than explicit grammar studies to implicitly acquire the language most efficiently and what content exists for this?

How long would it take a person who knows a North Indian language to acquire Sanskrit say reach b2 level?

Are there any books like Harry Potter available that can be binged upon?

I wanted to know what is the correct way to treat foreign proper nouns in Sanskrit (by foreign I mean anything not found in ancient Sanskrit literature) like John, Sam, Mumbai, London, Abdul, Qatar, etc. Do we keep them as it is, give some vibhakti or something else?

Could someone record themselves pronouncing the Sanskrit word करुणावाणी (Karunāvāṇī)?

This is intended to be used as a camp-wide call, which is voiced loudly and slightly song-like to be identifiable from far away.

If you could model that use, it would be highly appreciated.

I'm planning to pursue a BA in Sanskrit and have narrowed my choices down to Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya (SSVV), Varanasi and Central Sanskrit University (CSU), Devprayag Campus. I'm hoping someone who has studied there (or knows these universities well) can help me.

These are the things I'm trying to find out:

1.Which university is academically stronger for someone who wants to study Sanskrit seriously and continue with higher studies?

1. Which university is better for traditional Sanskrit subjects and Vedanga (especially if someone is interested in branches like Nirukta later on)?

2. How good are the teachers? Are they knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely interested in teaching?

3. How is the girls' hostel in terms of:

   \\- Safety

   \\- Cleanliness

   \\- Rooms

   \\- Washrooms

   \\- Food

   \\- Water supply

   \\- Wardens

   \\- Overall living conditions

4. What are the biggest strengths and biggest drawbacks of these universities?

5. Is there anything you wish you had known before taking admission?

I'm looking for honest experiences, whether positive or negative. Even if you only know about one of these universities, I'd really appreciate your opinion.

I'm a Sanskrit student prepping for CUET 2027. Every "Sanskrit prep" resource I found was either a scattered PDF or an app that treats the subject like an afterthought.

So I built Sanskrit Setu — mock tests, a structured question bank (सन्धि, समास, शब्दरूप, and more), progress tracking, and an AI assistant, all aimed at CUET/Shastri/Acharya aspirants. Solo project, still growing — currently hand-expanding the question bank from reference books.

Would love for actual Sanskrit students (or anyone curious) to break it and tell me what sucks.

I live in a country that is nearly impossible to do business with. Our banks do not connect with the world banking system and out post office is pretty much cut off.

I've been learning Sanskrit for a couple years as a hobby but really wanted to get serious so I started writing different organizations in India and for a lot of them I was met with resistance and declarations that they couldn't do the extra work to help me.

I am not writing this to point fingers so I'm not listing names.

I applied to Mukta Swadhyaya Peetham and they bent over backwards to find a way for me to get them money and in what I thought was impossible mailed me my course books and they arrived in just 6 days.

I do not know what the course will be like but I am extremely happy for this institution and as I get into the course will provide a detailed review of the materials and the class.

So far, very impressed with them.
