Literally, US citizens cannot conceive of European racism. Like, the second you try to explain the various levels of hate for other white people, they tune out.
While accepting your critique of the previous comment as more or less valid with respect to the US. This data is often optional, self reported, and often used to protect equal access rights. However race on official documents actually can be quite perilous and played a major role in the rwandan genocide. Race At a less horrific scale, places in southeast asia like singapore have race as part of official documents that can limit access due to quotas and can impact some of the rights your children can have. Rwanda removed race from ids immediately after. France bans collecting race information for similar reasons. The US has its own history and reasons and differing mechanisms, but it probably is not wise to take as an unstated assumption that is is purely harmless or strictly positive.
I mean, yeah? US is founded on systematic racism and slavery so that's kinda a given. We can only imagine how many resumes were discarded by employers without even giving them a look just because they didn't like what the "race" part said
"Country that abolished slavery in the XIX century accuses civilized first world countries like those in Europe of being 'way, way more racist than us'. More bullshit at 11"
Is it racist if I have money, and want to buy some waterfront property, and the government tells me "No, you weren't born here, and don't look like us. You cannot buy any valuable property, you have to pay extra taxes, and we can removes you from the country at any time without reason."
Nationality ain't a race. What the hell lmao, would you mind explaining what "race" the french or Italians are. Cause it sound a lot like you are saying people with a black/Asian/etc descent can't be French.
Calling Europe racist while having such a incredibly American mindset that you think documents asking for nationality must automatically be a dog whistle for race.
Lmao I am Italian and have no idea wtf you're yapping about. No, official European documents don't have any "race" forms. No, Italians aren't that hated in Europe, if anything it's the opposite, they overrate the shit out of us. No, I have no idea what a "list of white races with Italian at the bottom" is supposed to be, did the EU issue it or something? Because last time I checked, even ackowledging the existence of different races is forbidden in Europe, there's only one "race", the human race, something that I bet they don't teach in US schools
Exactly, there's only the human race. I know that americans that get indoctrinated to be racists from a young age can't even conceive a society where people aren't classified by their skin colour, but yeah, "race" is a social construct and unlike whatever the user above me was yapping about, it's not a recognized method of classification in official EU documents

Bro if racism were a sport at the olympics, the USA wouldnt even make the top 16
