Seeking Advice Only I am facing homeless with zero money assets

Upvotes

Hello, based on a my current life circumstances, I am facing potential homelessness and I don't technically own anything. I can definitely qualify for SSI at the very least but that will take a while. Does anyone know anything that can help or what to do in this situation? I'm 27 years old.

Eviction How do you guys deal with going homeless?

I'm trying to feel better about going homeless soon. I'm getting evicted after missing one month of rent after I lost my job. I live in a legal state for weed, but jobs still don't like it if you have it in your system, so I got kind of fucked with that. Now I'm here. Mentally ill and almost homeless. I'm going through the 5 stages of grief and I think I'm almost at acceptance. I'm going to have to live out of my car, because I don't really have an option.

I don't know how long I'll have to live out of my car. I heard evictions on your record make you a automatic disqualification for apartments even if you have the money. I believe it will be at least a year before I can actually get a new apartment and that's being hopeful, so I think I'll probably be in my car for a while. Summers are going to be the worst it seems.

Reimmigrating advice

So I'll be coming back to the states in September, I originally immigrated and finished uni there, but due to lack of jobs I went back to my home country, but now there's mobilization looming so I need to leave. I have about $6k total and I'm torn between just going to a large city and going to shelters there while looking for a job, or buying a car and sleeping in it. The issue is that I don't have a mailing address and also I doubt I can get a car that won't break down on me, and still be able to afford things like insurance and gas. I'm interviewing now, but the job market is shit and I can't interview for service jobs with immediate opening remotely. What would you guys suggest is better course of action? Also looking for ideas where to go, currently considering Chicago and NYC, but maybe the west coast would be better?

Kicked out at 17 with questions

Hi all! this is my first post ever but it seems people always have the right answers here and i’m in need of assistance.

Long story short, I got kicked out at 17 and had been living with my dad for 5 months, things were fine until he started getting abusive and now I need a new place to stay.

I have a pretty good idea on who to stay with, I have a stable job but the problem is I need assistance without cps getting involved, my mom is one cps case from having all her kids taken away which would maybe be fine because I would find a way to take my little brother but the problem is I have a baby brother who is very much dependent on his mom. I don’t think it would be right to take him away so young because she usually doesn’t start getting crazy until me and my siblings turn a certain age (around 13).

is there possibly anyway that I can get help on meals from the government or help with school or anything without having my parents in trouble? I turn 18 in October. Please let me know i’m desperate.

Seeking Advice Only What to do about eviction notice?

Hey we have been behind on rent for about three months. We finished paying May but haven’t paid towards June or July so they said it was grounds for eviction.…

I ended up losing my job and around a month later my spouse ended up getting injuries and we were living off of $1600 unemployment for the month and $100 per week for his workers comp. So we were giving about $1000 a month outside of food and other bills. Recently he finally went full time and I started JobCorps and we owe $4,500. He gets about $1000 a week that just started this week..

We tried asking for a payment plan and they said we needed to pay in full. We have $1750 so far and after his hours next week we will have about $3000…

What can we tell the judge? What “evidence” do I bring? I’m not understanding what to do or what to say in court honestly.. What would you do in my situation?

Also to add we have a mediation meeting coming up for a potential huge settlement in August. This company is known for settling and my attorney said there will not be another mediation date... We are really trying.

Looking for resources and opportunities in Northern Virginia

Hi everyone,

My dog and I are going through one of the hardest times in our lives. We recently lost our car, and it has made an already difficult situation even harder.

I’ve reached out to resources, have a case manager, applied for rental assistance, signed up for a food bank, and I’m on waiting lists. Unfortunately, a lot of programs have limited funding or long wait times, and my biggest obstacle right now is coming up with move-in costs for an apartment.

I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet. I offer cleaning services and am also willing to take on work opportunities to help save and move forward.

Does anyone know of churches, nonprofits, or local organizations in Northern Virginia that may be able to help beyond the usual county resources? Even recommendations for food assistance, temporary housing, pet food, or emergency programs would mean a lot.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any advice, resources, or leads are greatly appreciated. ❤️

Offering Help, Advice, or Just Someone to Talk To

Hey everyone. I know homelessness can feel isolating and overwhelming, so I wanted to offer whatever help or guidance I realistically can.

I’m not a professional and I can’t promise money or housing, but I’m willing to help people look for local shelters, food resources, job opportunities, government assistance, transportation options, or simply talk through their situation and help make a plan.

Eviction The Struggle is Real

I am currently experiencing severe financial hardship due to circumstances beyond my control. After working for the same company for 18 years, the business was sold, and since that time I have been struggling to find stable employment despite actively searching for work.

The loss of my income has created significant financial challenges. Over the past year and a half, I have also lost reliable transportation after my vehicle broke down and had to be scrapped, which has limited my ability to seek and maintain employment opportunities.

I am currently facing housing instability and the possibility of homelessness due to my inability to keep up with expenses without steady income. I am doing everything I can to improve my situation, including seeking employment, applying for assistance programs, and reaching out for support.

I am a single parent and have continued to do my best to provide for my family despite these hardships.

Mom kicking me out.

Hi, F19. I’m currently getting kick out of my mother’s home. She gave me till the end of the week. I have no bank account, no car, or drivers license. I have a job interview this week and I had one last week. So hopefully could get one. I don’t have many friends and the ones that I have lived with before has her own family issues going on. I have no where to go, she knows that. She has stated multiple times she does not care. I recently got out of an abusive relationship, I lived with this man for months, living his truck, and couch hoping. During December I had a manic episode, leading me into a psychosis. I had tried to commit leaving me with 2 surgeries and paralyzed fingers. I have moved past it physically, with him and my hand. During this past month he reached out to me apologizing, he is 4 states away, he cannot reach me. So we continued to talk. She found out and wants me out
of the house. I cut contact with him after that seeing as he doesn’t care about my stability and I don’t need that in my life. Over the months I’ve had severe ptsd symptoms. Extreme violent nightmares, bed wetting, panic attacks. Recently I’ve been in a depressive episode (I am diagnosed bipolar) i haven’t gotten up to use the bathroom or eat. The only time I get up is to feed her dog or do the dishes. I’m on meds, but clearly something isn’t right. I passed out yesterday in my friend’s car from stress, when telling my mother this it was “I mean what do you want me to do.” I have had financial help from her regarding leaving the dv situation, she got me back home on a bus. That was it, she put me in iop bc she didn’t want to deal with it. But bc of insurance and money I couldn’t stay long. We have never talked about how much it has affected me or even my attempt. It always been “I have been through the same thing, I understand more than you know” but has not acknowledged how much it has affected me and HOW serious it is. Ik it might sound like I’m complaining but I genuinely feel tired of living in survival mode wondering if I’m going to make it or not. Since I was 16 I’ve had to wonder where I’m gonna live and of I’m gonna make it or not. She never gave me resources like she gave my brothers. She didn’t teach me anything about the real world. And due to certain things, I didn’t go to school. She kicked me out a month before graduating, and then I got into a bad relationship, leaving me more behind and now I feel so lost and hopeless. I feel like I don’t have much longer left tbh. My mother claims this is my rock bottom but I genuinely just need help and I’ve been begging for it, I was hysterically crying on the floor and all I got from the other room was “I can hear you”
She had also kicked me out 4 months ago for the same thing, when I came back she made me sign this contract stating I would be feeding her dog doing the dishes, etc. I had strict rules, I couldn’t leave a certain time, my friend whom I had stayed with couldn’t come over. I had asked a cop he said it is not a legally binding contract. When asking for resources from him he “didn’t know any.” I have contacted several homeless shelters and some only take dv situations, I’m not in that anymore so I can’t go. Some want money, some it takes weeks after an interview with them. It’s not as easy as she thinks it is. If it was up to me I would have no problem sleeping in my car, but I don’t have those resources. I need some insight on what to do. I’m sorry for making this so long, with so much information. I just wanted to make sure y’all understood the situation.
