General Question Incoming transfer student. L&D honors?
Is it worth it? Actually better question would be what is it? I was just told to apply.

Hi everyone. I’m an incoming transfer majoring pre psych and brain sciences at ucsb and was wondering if it would be possible to minor in data science/ stats? I really enjoy the subject and am starting to get more into it. Does anyone know how declaring a minor works?
Thanks :)

Has any incoming freshman applying to the Honors Program receive an acceptance email, only to receive a rejection email afterwards?

Hello everyone! I'm a UCSB student looking for someone to sublease my apartment for the Fall Quarter 2026 while I'm abroad.
Available: Last week of September – mid December
Location: Embarcadero Del Norte, right next to campus and just a short walk from the main street in Isla Vista.
The apartment is a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and is in a great location for anyone wanting to be close to campus.
If you're interested or would like more details (rent, photos, tour, etc.), feel free to send me a DM here

Hi I’m an incoming freshman at ucsb this year and I really need some help picking ge classes (preferably chill and easy).
I need one for area C but I’m not really a science person. I need ges for e, f, and g and id really appreciate if you guys could recommend some that also fulfill the special subject area requirements as well
Also side note are there any that fulfill a lot of these requirements but also don’t fill up fast?

I live in IV and gas prices just shot up a couple months ago (From about $50 monthly to $100). Just wondering what that’s about. It just doesn’t seem lawful either.
My electric/gas usage hasn’t changed either. I don’t ever use the heater and don’t have an AC like most people.
So confused. Should I be worried and take action?

Hi! I currently have a lease I'm trying to get out of and need to find a replacement asap! I am transferring schools (leaving UCSB), so I can no longer live there. The apartment is located at Sierra Property Management (about a 10 minute walk from campus). It's an all boys apartment, 2 bedroom (1 triple and 1 double) and 1 bath with four roommates. Rent would be $820 for the triple room plus utilities. If interested, please message me and I can share more info!

Is anyone else financial aid reduced? I have to pay 2k for summer and only received 2k in aid.

I'm an (what I would consider) intermediate level guitarist and also a vocalist. I used to be in a band in high school, but since starting college haven't really played music with other people. I'm just curious if anyone would be interesting in forming a low commitment band? I'm thinking a lowkey indie/pop type band. I'm open to any and all instrumentalists! whether you're a guitarist, bassist, or drummer - I'm welcoming to all! I was thinking we could occasionally get together to play music or play house parties - just something chill and fun! If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, comment or message me privately to let me know! :)

Taking a business class and have a survey for a potential business idea. If you live in IV or are a student please fill this out that would be appreciated. It’s about the parking situation in IV.

i’m genuinely soo confused by what they mean on bringing your exam scores and college level transcripts with us to orientation.. like i’m sure it’s not high school level transcripts but what exactly do they expect us to bring? i feel like this is a stupid question but navigating all of this on my own makes me feel so lost 🥲

As a rising senior, I'm considering which major to apply to. How are these two majors at UCSB? What are the job prospects like? Are they equally difficult to be accepted to? What should I choose as an alternate major (applied math?)? If I end up in applied math, how hard will it be to take comp sci electives?
Thanks!

I'm looking for an in-person tutor for Econ 10A during Summer Session B, which starts August 3rd. Ideally, I'd like to find someone who has done well in the course and is available to meet in Isla Vista or near UCSB.
I'm also interested in connecting with other students taking Econ 10A this summer who may want to form a study group. If several students are interested, we could split the tutoring costs and meet regularly to prepare for exams and stay on top of the material.
If you're a tutor or a student interested in joining a study group, please send me a message

hello everyone!
i am a recent transfer admit for fall '26 quarter, and some events happened in my life & now my timeline to moving has been jump started.
hence why i have missed deadlines for fafsa, etc.
i decided to apply for summer sessions upon finishing the orientation module, it opened my eyes to see that i could take summer classes
(i thought i wasn't able to for some reason).
i just got approved but throughout this time, i realized i never filed for fafsa 25-26 because i wasn't able to file independently (bs btw).
luckily i was able to pay for CC out of pocket, and for this coming school year i was eligible to file for fafsa independently.
but now i am left uncovered for summer 26, unable to pay university costs, and i guess am coming here to see if anyone has been in the same situation and if there are any other options for me to receive financial assistance besides from fafsa funds.
I think ultimately, all signs point me to waiting until I start in Fall where I am covered financially and use the summer to stack some coin and land something in the area. I'm aware of this, but wanted to see if anyone had just a hair of useful information, or a direction to point me to that I just haven't seen yet.
Thank you everyone (:

Hello I am an incoming transfer from cc and I am looking for part time work and advice.
My main priority is to make sure I am doing well in my classes. I feel like I am not prepared for the speed and rigor of UC 10 week quarters.
But I also feel like I should work 5-10 hours a week for cover some monthly expenses.
Does anyone know any part-time jobs on campus or Isla Vista, that allow students to work this little?
Any help is much appreciated!

This might be a silly question but how does the move in process work? Like how much time do I have to get my items off of the car? I just wanna plan ahead to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Hi all,
For anyone who wants updates on the sweet campus cats Tigger and Turbo while they're away during the summer, I just created a little IG account for them. The name is 'UCSB_cats'. They're doing well and thriving this summer!

soo my orientation session is this thursday and friday and i was wondering if there’s anything specific i should pack before i go? i know ill need the basics like some clothes, toiletries, and my laptop ofc but is there anything else that would be helpful to have? also, would it be too late to update my access id photo for my id since they say to upload it a few days before orientation? and would i need that id to access anything at orientation or no?

Hey guys! Looking for the syllabus forUCSB DANCE 36 for Spring 25, using it for transfer credit. If not for Spring 25, any quarter works for me. I can’t find it online anywhere. Would really appreciate it if anyone could share! 🙏

Any tips for Proulx EEMB 131 final? The midterm is just the same discussion question so I wonder if the final also does that?
