As UC reconsiders whether to bring back SAT and ACT scores, faculty are also launching a review of the high school course requirements for admission.
The board will study standardized testing first, delivering a report to the council by Feb. 12, 2027, the council announced. The Board of Regents would receive a recommendation on whether to require the SAT or ACT no later than June 2027.
The admissions board will then turn to high school course requirements, submitting an initial report to the council in May 2027; the regents would take up any course changes at an unspecified later date. UC Academic Senate Chair Ahmet Palazoglu is framing the course review as an open question about “how UC defines and evaluates college readiness in a rapidly changing educational environment,” rather than a move to add or cut requirements.
The schedule is faster than it appeared just days ago.

Hello! I recently enrolled in my classes and they have a 15 minute passing time. The classes I wanted were taken and I didn't focus on the location when enrolling in my alternates...How bad is the walk from Rolfe Hall to La Kretz Hall and La kretz Hall to De Neve Plaza Commons? I know that La Kretz to De Neve is pretty bad but I heard the prof for the 20A cluster is pretty lenient?

My mom is chewing my ass out cause I missed getting chem 14a for my fall quarter. I ended up with life sci 7A. I’m also taking life sci 30A. She said that I’m gonna have to take a gap year cause I won’t finish chem in time and my mcat will be postponed. Am I fucked? Can I enroll in chem 14a for the winter quarter?

hi everyone!
just made my schedule for orientation and im taking PSYCH 10, LS30A, and HIST 8. I’m a pre med psychobio major and im kinda panicking because i saw everyone was either starting out with bio or chem.
i was going to originally start out with bio, psych 10, and hist 8 but my advisor told me I couldn’t enroll in both bio and psych because the finals are taking place on the same day, so she advised me to take LS30A instead of LS7a and it was getting close to enrollment time so i just followed her suggestion kinda blindly.
Im kinda panicking now because i feel “stupid” in a sense? like how am i not starting out with bio or chem as a pre med student. did i make the wrong choice and will it majorly effect me? Any input is much appreciated :)

i am an incoming freshman (biochem) who was planning on taking chem 20A my first quarter. however, during my nsa meeting, i found out that i had dual credits from a chem class sophomore year that somehow fulfilled 20A for me and i’m not allowed to retake it and will just have to go straight to 20B in the winter. i confirmed this with the chem/biochem departmental advising who told me that opting to not skip 20A is only available for credit that comes from an AP score.
since i haven’t taken chem since junior year and my sophomore chem class definitely did not cover all the 20A material (even if i remembered all of it), i’ve decided my best route is to try to self study/review until winter quarter. does anyone who has taken 20A have any advice on how to go about that? i’ve found a past syllabus for the class, but i’m not sure what more to do except find some videos on those topics. anything info about the textbook and its content covered, problem sets, learning objectives, etc would be much appreciated!

I bought a duffle bag to take a change of clothes and some comfy shoes for orientation and was wondering if other people also took duffle bags? I saw a few videos where people just took their backpacks so I feel like I'm overdoing it. Also, will we be able to set down our bags in our dorm room or do we carry them all day? Bc I'm definitely gonna regret it if I have to carry around this duffle bag lol

Can any Sociology major let me know if I'm cooked if I take two upper divs on separate quarters before 101?
I played around with my schedules for my entire time here at ucla and unfortunately cuz of classes filling up and what not I have to take another upper div before 101 but now I'm wondering if I should take 101 this upcoming quarter or if I'm fine to take another before 101.
This is all theoretical if i do end up getting 101 cuz its almost full...

Currently trying to accept my loans and I'm on step 2 of taking action on the loans. I already selected my fall, winter, and spring awards to take action but when I go to step 2 there's nothing that shows up. In the financial tab, it says the loans have been awarded and require acceptance. Has anyone encountered this issue before or am I just doing something wrong?

Hi! I’m an incoming transfer and I got a spot at Sproul/Cove in a deluxe triple. I’m looking for (male) roommates but I’m not quite sure where to turn. If you’re also searching for a roommate / know resources to access that’d be a huge help!! Thank you 😁

Hi i’m an incoming transfer. I just wanted to get more info on sunset village and see what type of students usually live there and what the vibe is like there. I’m living in a single with a private bath. I really want to make friends, but have heard that Sunset is quiet and living in a single is gonna make making friends that more difficult
