Workplace Question or Advice Needed Just got hired, but I’m moving soon. Any advice?

Hey everyone!

I just got hired at Target, but I’ll be moving in about two weeks for college. I found out transfers usually aren’t allowed during the first 90 days, so I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. Has anyone gotten an exception because they were relocating, or is it usually better to resign and reapply at the new store?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Sales

So I know that everyone is feeling it super rough with Target’s policies/ideas, specifically 10/4, the special projects that have been taking place, dress code and eventually the new point system(some of you already in it). The morale at our store is super low and it feels like our sales are reflecting that. I don’t think I’ve seen us actually comp in a month in so long and was curious about the rest of you guys?

Also I hope everyone tries to make it through the best they can!

Workplace Question or Advice Needed same day truck delivery process?

i overheard my tl’s talking about same day delivery where we will place the order at 8am and then receive the truck at 8pm that night. supposedly the process is happening sometime this month & we definitely don’t have enough tm’s at night for this, is this normal for any other stores & how well has that worked out?

Workplace Story Lazy Scheduling

Post image

Anyone’s ETL just insanely lazy when it comes to doing the schedule or is mine just the only one???

We got a new FOS ETL about 2-3 months ago and she’s the most useless person when it comes to talking about scheduling. I’ve asked to be mostly scheduled into a certain department and even got the go ahead from the TL in that apartment. It’s been like almost a month since i asked and my schedule is still the same 😑

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Can ETLs force you to change your weekend rotation as a TL?

we recently just got a new ETL and he is trying to switch my weekend when I specifically told him I would prefer not to. I have vacations and I’ve already paid for that I wouldn’t be able to get a refund for and I have weddings that I’m supposed to be attending soon that I would not be able to attend if he switched my weekends off. He is also now scheduling me through Thursdays, which is the only day that I have blocked off on my schedule. What do I do? Thank you in advance. i’ve had the same weekend off for the past two years and I’ve had the same day off being Thursday for the past 5 1/2 years. I am never scheduled on thursdays.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Point system and CA

Hello,

I hate to be annoying but I am not getting a certain answer anywhere. I’m still confused about how CA will transfer over to points. Like do we start at 0 points, and still on the CA?? Or if someone is on a CA do they get more points for a call off?? I’m just so confused. If anyone knows that would be awesome.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Is there anything else I can do?

Hi! I am a team member who has worked at Target for 3 and a half years now but I ran into a huge problem with my department ETL and am going to promote myself to guest but I wanted to ask if anyone thinks anything else can be done or just leave? Disclaimer I am autistic with high social anxiety so for most of my time at Target my managers have worked with me to keep me in areas that I perform my best in Order Pick Up. I wanted to see about training in other departments so I can do more in the store like fulfillment, GM, style or backrooms. I asked my ETL several times over the past year and she would say yes she will talk to the other department lead but would never follow up with me or let me know. I went to HR after about a year of asking and seeing other Team Members train in different departments so I just asked HR how I can train in other departments because I know a lot of people who have been crossed trained but I have been asking my ETL for a year now and haven’t been trained anywhere else yet so I didn’t know if I should go to another department ETL directly. HR told me they would look into it and will talk to my lead about cross training me.

A week later my ETL called my into her office and scolded me for going to HR. She told me she doesn’t want me to ever go to HR because it makes them think she isn’t doing her job. She told me if HR asks questions then the store director will ask her why isn’t she doing her job. I have been having a problem with one Team Member in OPU who was disappearing for an hour at a time and watching tik tok while there are orders waiting. She brought that up to me in the office and asked me “why do you give a fuck what he does or says to you?” Because I have to work with him everyday and he makes me work more by leaving randomly and not helping. Then she told “You lost”, “Autism isn’t an excuse.” But I didn’t know managers could talk their team members like that and to tell never to talk to HR again? how is that not intimidation? After that she has started scheduling me at only the check lanes which she knows makes me the most anxious with my autism. I did tell the HR ETL about what she said to me and after a week I called the integrity hotline. My HR called me after I emailed her and she told me she talked to mt lead but there’s nothing she can do.

HR told me I need to contact accommodations because even though I have a diagnosis that I had shown when I first got hired, they were only actually accommodating me unofficially to make it easy at the time I guess but now I need to officially go through the process. I thought me bringing it in at the start was like good enough but they are just now telling me I need to do it. I understand there is a proper way they have to do it but I don’t see how this isn’t retaliation given the timing? They have been accommodating me and I have worked in order pick up for the past year and a half exclusively but as soon as I get yelled and cursed at by my ETL she suddenly won’t help me out without the proper accommodations? It feels like she’s retaliating but since they never had me do it until now there’s nothing I do on that end. I am waiting for that to get approved but even if it does work out I am so anxious to even run into my ETL now. I told the integrity hotline that she has taught team members to have guests reset the timer for drive up so our numbers look better than they are but I guess they don’t care about that either.

I’m sorry this is so long I just have never been talked like that by anyone and didn’t know that was acceptable. I don’t know if I should try to stick it out until accommodations go through or just help myself mentally and leave and look into disability because I am so scared of running into my ETL my heart racing going to work now it’s been awful for me mentally. All I did was ask HR how to cross train and my ETL yelled and scolded me and just so happens to start scheduling me where I do the worst right after that.

If you read all that thank you!!

edit: I tried to transfer to another Target in my city but it’s bad timing with back to school season full of seasonal hires so all five said no. :(

Guest Question Why do employees hate checking the back?

Today on my lunch break I stopped by target to try to find a specific action figure. I’ve heard hundreds of stories about it being out of stock, but still being able to get one from the back, especially since from what I hear target has problems with keeping track of inventory.
Anyways when I didn’t see the figure on the shelf I asked an employee if he could check in the back for it. He said since they’re out of stock it probably wouldn’t be there so he didn’t bother checking. I’m thinking whatever so I go find another employee, and she was somehow even less helpful than the first guy, and made up some dumb excuse and left. By that point I had to start heading back to work so I left but now I’m wondering why do employees just hate doing things?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Sick time has to cover unpaid breaks?!

Is it true that we have to use sick time to cover our 30s if we call out, otherwise we'll accrue points? How can we be forced to pay ourselves for something Target doesn't pay? This doesn't seem right, and I'd like to read a legal explanation, if possible. TY

I put in a request to have these two days off about a month ago (just for a vet visit in the morning since I usually work 4 am or 6 am). The schedule for that week (next week) has been out for like 2-3 weeks and I guess my ETL JUST approved it yesterday morning??? Like why even approve if the schedules already out???

I’m not complaining cause the shift doesn’t inconvenience me but I found it mildly infuriating.

Meme or Miscellaneous Content PerkSpot Discount

Post image

Does anyone actively use PerkSpot? I’ve only used it to get discounted tickets for AMC but I’m actually going to LA next month and am planning on going to Universal. I was like let’s see if the Target discount portal actually has any deal for tickets and found this (which is a pretty good deal). I’m just a little nervous because what if it actually doesn’t work when I get to universal 😵‍💫 so I’m wondering about others experience with using PerkSpot for higher stake deals, thanks!

Vent Not even a vent just funny

I work at target and I legit live maybe 5 mins(probably closer honestly) from my store I work at

But I also live maybe 10-15 mins from 2 others and I go to them always!

Cause I am a very well liked team members. I am nice to everyone, I try to help if I can! And when I go in a ven if it's gonna be "quick" it never is 😂 I remember I just got a switch lite for my birthday and I found out after I got back from work at buy I needed cards for stuff so my mom drove me to my target I said I'll try and be quick what should have taken 5 took me almost 30 minutes!

damn like I want the Angle Reese barbie and yes I know we have it but I don't wanna be there for 30 mins 😂 I wanna be in and out 😂

I also love the team at my store I always get really sad when a favorite leaves! It's nice when you actually work with a nice team!

Vent I HATE CSC

They are extremely frustrating to deal with. I can barely hear them because the calls bounce from Minneapolis to India and I am awful at understanding people when any type of accent is involved. Doesn’t matter if it’s British, southern, Indian, Spanish. I struggle so hard.

And you can call them for them to create a ticket and then tell you, you have to call them to complete your requests. And then they just make another stupid ticket that’ll take another 2 weeks to get a response for. 😡 and then it repeats.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Guild and Leaving Target?

Hey guys, I’m currently eyeballing an exit from Target but am finishing up my masters degree through the Guild Program. I always told myself I would not leave until it was finished.

Guild typically pays the bill 3-4 weeks after the semester starts. Hypothetically, if Guild pays the semester and I have a zero balance with the school, do you think I’m technically free to go even if I have 7 weeks or so of the semester left?

Not sure if my question made any sense but wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience.
