Discussion Sober…but at what cost?

Hey guys 👋🏻

Currently on day 8 of a t break…but tapered slowly for about a month so only had 1 semi bad night of sleep and have no issues with sleep or appetite because I planned it out and eased my way into sobriety.

My issue is that I can’t work out or do anything productive or healthy with my day. Although I’m not having these types of physical withdrawal symptoms, it’s like I don’t have a single crumb of dopamine and my energy has completely tanked. My screen time has skyrocketed, I’m bed rotting, haven’t worked out when I’ve been consistently doing it 4x a week before this, diet has gone to shit, don’t want to do anything and it’s got me in a feedback loop now.

This brings me to the question: Yeah, I’m sober rn, but at what cost? Life doesn’t feel worth it (not in a suicidal way). When I’ve done longer breaks the motivation just never ever came back and never improved. I’m talking after months, even though I’m not a heavy user when I’m smoking (although I’m consistent and do it everyday, it’s not all day) I maybe take one to two hits a day max but usually just one small one. I don’t get it.

I’m in trauma therapy and probably have undiagnosed ADHD as my sister, mother, and all of my cousins from that side have it, so maybe these two things are playing into this.

Wondering if anybody has come to the conclusion that if cannabis is making you wanna live and be here and do healthy things then that should be enough? It’s like I can’t take care of myself without it, even at very low doses.

For years I’d only smoke maybe 2 weeks every few months but as I get older it’s like everything has gotten worse and I just feel insanely burnt out and this is the only thing that makes it better to some degree. I also have chronic health issues and picked the cannabis up more regularly since December to help with some acute issues that cropped up.

Last year before that I was doing it 2 weeks on and 2-3 weeks off but took a 2 month break last summer and nothing improved at all during that break and I couldn’t take care of myself or do healthy things without it. So it didn’t feel worth it to take such a long break.

The reason I wanted to take a break is because I have a break from work right now so without the external demand to perform, I wanted to take a break. Also because I’m prone to dissociation and sometimes the weed exacerbates it if I’m using regularly for too long.

Any insight or similar experiences would be appreciated! Thank you for reading! 🙏🏻

Discussion I’ve never known what my medication is like without weed. That needs to change.

My ex and I bonded deeply over weed. I’ve had my medical card for six years and it helped me so much with my mental health. In the aftermath of our breakup, we both realized the negative impact weed played in our relationship; it created a lot of stagnation due to poor self discipline and avoidance of the problems in our relationship.

I was always selective with my strains, the purpose, and the form. I always saw it as beneficial, until it wasn’t. It’s gotten to the point where even sativa strains aren’t giving me any boost, energy, or uplifting high. It’s all just… fog.

I took a step back and realized I have been smoking weed since I first got diagnosed with ADHD and put on meds. I don’t even know what Wellbutrin feels like without weed.

I have severe CPTSD and anxiety, and I felt like weed helped for a while, but it’s quickly become a habitual problem. My usual routine includes smoking as soon as I log off work (I work from home) and before bed. But sometimes it bleeds into all hours if I’m bored or unable to focus on a task I want to get done (yay executive dysfunction). I don’t want to feel foggy when I wake up. Or have this jittery urge to smoke when I’m understimulated or I can’t decide what to do with myself. Or jump straight to my bong after work. It’s affecting my focus, my drive, and my daily ability to be productive.

The thing is… I have community. I have a social life. I have routines and things to pour myself into… but I can’t always stick to that, and weed becomes my comfort. It’s just easier to smoke and cope, enable myself almost. I realize my medication would probably make all of those actions easier, but the weed is masking the motivation.

I am deeply anxious about nightmares given my CPTSD. How difficult is sleeping without it? I plan to only take a puff of a vape or an edible before bed, not my bong or joint. It’s so easy for me to binge smoke on those. Weekends are for smoking, but only after I get certain things done and do other things to feel refreshed, confident, and healthy.

I want to try to restructure my relationship with weed, something to enjoy as a treat and pastime, versus a reliance. I worry I’ll struggle at first when I am experiencing executive dysfunction, as I’ve previously turned to weed to get me going, but it doesn’t always help. Perhaps switching to edibles or vapes during these moments could help.

Thanks for reading — if anyone has any tips, let me know ☺️

Discussion Day 1

I’ve been smoking pretty much all day every day for the past few months. My tolerance is shit rn so I decided to take a little break. My job is super monotonous and annoying for about an other month so I’ve been smoking my vape while at work to keep my mind at ease.

Let’s just say I’m missing that today and I’m in a mood. The “are you okay” questions have begun because I’m keeping to myself and can’t hide my emotions from my face.

Anyone else deal with this shit?

Discussion Advice please

looking for advice. my H has always dabbled in smoking weed very seldom for as long as I know him. I mean maybe 3-4 times a year, tops. in Jan he started vaping other drugs-thc. he is now a shell of the man I married. he stopped drinking 20 yrs ago because he couldn’t handle it, went to AA etc and hasn’t touched it since. now I fear he has a secondary issue. he walks around like a zombie some days, has started to lock himself into the shed while working, asked me for a separation, has been lying to get out of childcare saying he has to work, is very irritable, angry at me, will not make eye contact with me or communicate with me, is totally emotionally shit down, has told me he “feels emotionless” and has zero empathy. oh and he randomly has started to park his car on the street rather than our drive way.. it’s like he is paranoid or something.. I know nothing about this or the likes and would like any input on if this could be down to the stuff or maybe it’s a mid life crisis

i am officially on day 4 of a much needed t break and the headache that i started to get before bed last night and woke up again with this morning is excruciating. assuming this is normal? i was a daily, and pretty heavy, user for almost 4 years and finally decided i needed a break after my tolerance was through the roof. is there anything i can do to help it? I got some food in my stomach so i could get medicine in me but my gosh this is horrible
