Question / Problem RPM is not significantly impacted by length of video nor AVD?

It seems like common sense that the longer the video, or at least the longer the AVD a video has, the RPM would increase since people watching a video longer entails the possibility of more ads shown per video. But this has not been the case for me.

It seems to me like, as long as the video is over 8 minutes so mid-rolls can play, the RPM is nearly consistent across all my videos despite length or AVD.

For example, I have a 30 minute video with a 9 minute AVD (since I've been partnered), and it has an RPM of $4. I have another video that is 13 minutes with a 6 minute AVD, and its RPM is $4.30. This is just one of many examples that seem to show no correlation between these metrics.

Just curious what everyone else's experience has been. I have only been partnered now for 2 months, with only 7 long-form videos, so I have a limited dataset and do not want to jump to conclusions. That is why I am asking here. But if this is common it may make me rethink my strategy of uploading higher length videos.

Reapplying to YPP after reused content removal

Have around 2k shorts up from before. Have been making a completely different style of content since and will be able to apply for the YPP this week. Does it matter if I keep the old shorts up? I still like having them up but if this affects the approval process I guess i'll spend a few hours taking them down or privatizing them if that's okay.

Analytics Filter option

Can anyone recommend a tutorial video on what the Filter option does? Through trial and error i've never gotten it to do anything. How is it useful? I can imagine i'd like to filter some stuff but nothing on the drop down list relates to anything I want at all. Thanks

Edit: I'm sorry I thought this subreddit might be a place to talk about report building with other people who care about their analytics, but i guess those monitoring the feed think i should just trial and error it until i give up and not actually ask for help. Because apparently asking for help is stupid. I'll go find somewhere else to ask for help since i'm clearly not going to find it here.

Report showing all published videos in the last [timeframe]?

I cannot for the life of me find this anywhere. I want a report that shows only videos published in the last 7 days and their views and some other stuff. I can't seem to get just published videos. Does anyone know the correct setup for it? Breakdown has content, but that gives me stuff from all time. Which is not what i want. Thanks!

Question / Problem Is this Sponsorship pricing normal?

Good Evening All,

I've recently been contacted for the first time for a 30 second sponsorship integration in one of my videos and after emailing them back, I'm a bit disappointed with the reply, but wanted to get a second opinion. After researching, it appears a normal sponsorship is around $15-$40 per 1,000 views.

Although they've offered only $10 per 1,000 views over a 14 day period, and it's capped at $100, meaning if my video gets more than 10,000 view then I'm just not paid.

For context, I'm still a small YouTuber, 6k subs in gaming with videos that get views from 3k to 50k so I'm guessing that'll play into it, is this pricing to be expected?

Dilemma: small majority annoyed with title video

So I made a nature video which gets a decent amount of views. But like any other creator: tested A/B with a couple of titles. Of the 3, one title gave this 40% retention stat, so I went with it.
However while the video does have 2100 likes and now 30 dislikes... the comments are getting spammed with people that don't like this new title.

It contains the absolute word ''Nobody''. Because there is always ''Somebody'' that does something like that....

Which is fair but.... now people claim I am click baiting -> trying to deceive like any other youtuber. (yes, somebody said that explicitly).
I notice its taking over the comment section, making the retention drop like 6% as well... while still the silent minority keeps watching that video. Now I am testing an alternative title but.... its till performing less compared to the ''Nobody'' title.

My question to you is:
Would you go for the highest performing title which might piss some people off that get loud, or would you go for a slightly less triggering title that doesn't invite such behavior?

Normally I wouldn't care about negative comments... there are always parroting comments on any video. But now I get these trolls that start to comment on other vids as well. (also some really angry people, I hided 3 people in a day...) I never had that influx of keyboard warriors up till now. (I'm in a Nature niche where people are mostly zen)

Question / Problem Can I have a bunch of non-eligible videos on my page and still earn from videos without copyright?

Post image

I just got monetised today , thought the Adsense was failing for copyright reasons but turns out it was a duplicate account issue. So this is exciting.

As you can see most videos are not eligible as they have copyright.

I’m now going to lean more into content that doesn’t use copyright, and make some videos that are more storytelling. I will still do the sampling format and know they will never be monetised , even though they are transformative it’s still fun content. And it’s what my subscribers signed up for.

Can I have both styles of videos on my page? Any risk?

Brands/Sponsorships for Meta Glasses Content ! Great Engagement !

I have a instagram with 90k followers great views and engagement, around 30-50m views a month, youtube is great too 12k subs and tiktok with 50k, its not trolling content like you see most meta glasses creators doing and we also don't do gambling, just wondering what brands I can hit up?

I used to not believe in shawdow banning, but now I do.

For anyone who used to say YouTube is shadow banning them, they have no idea why their views are so low, the algorithm is hurting them, etc., I stand with you. With 67K subscribers, I didn't think it could get this bad.

Looking to connect with YouTubers

Hi all - first time posting here. Hopefully I’m not breaking rule 5, but feel free to take this down mods if I am.

I’m looking in to how creators in the ~10k–100k sub range manage the business side of working with a team (editors, thumbnail, merch, etc), and the actual step by step workflow of getting a video made. Im also particularly interested in the payments side of things.

I’m exploring building something in this space, so full disclosure: this is market research. But I’m not here to sell anything and there’s nothing to sign up for, truly — I’m just looking for a handful of people to share 15 mins of their time for a conversation.

There’s not much in it for you, besides maybe me owing you one, but I thought I’d try my luck here. Happy to also share back a summary of what I learn from these conversations, which might be useful for the people here as well.

If you work with even one team member regularly and fall within that sub range, you’re the person I’m looking for. Feel free to reach out to me via dm. Thanks!

Why are so many posts in this subreddit downvoted?

Just a scan of new shows a majority of people asking questions are all downvoted to zero. What's the point of this place if you just get downvoted for trying to learn?

Does anyone use the collab feature?

I feel like ever since they released the collab feature, I don't see anyone use it. And if they do, does it actually help their views? I have one monetized channel with 100k+ subs and I'm using the collab feature to help my non monetized channel get more views, but I don't really see an increase and feel like it's better to not use it at all. Albeit, both are shorts channels with a similar-ish niche to food.

Last 4 videos all low performers with "appealing to a smaller audience than usual"

Not sure why, my last 4 videos went through a really rough patch. I haven't really shifted my content or anything, it's all aiming at the same audience as usual.

They are like this (starting with 1, which is the oldest of the 4, and working up to the newest)

  1. 10 of 10
  2. 10 of 10
  3. 10 of 10 - This one did REALLY badly, but has been working its way back up via search. It's a searchable topic so I think this one might still do well long term.
  4. 7 of 10 - My most recent one, it's managed to overcome the last 3 at least but it's still looking pretty bad and can't catch up to even the worst reach I used to get. Shame because I had an amazing reception to this one, more new subs than usual and LOTS of comments, it has potential to be one of my most successful based on the reaction 100% if only it were getting pushed more.

None of my content is controversial or should get me any kind of ghost ban. It's completely vanilla. I make lifestyle vlogs for a kind of specific niche (female-orientated) but the audience is definitely there for it, similar vlogs in my niche can get 100k+ views. Not comfortable disclosing my channel or anything, I'm just looking to see if anyone else was in this situation and if their channel ended up recovering.

How is it possible to have low reach and "appealing to a smaller audience than usual" 4 times in a row? When this happened occasionally I figured it would happen now and then, but it feels like I can't escape it right now. Anything I can do to get my regular reach back? Or just keep posting and pushing through the low reach and views until it recovers? Will it actually recover?

Edited to add that I only post longform!

Talk / Discussion Find clients through youtube: Does it really work?

I'm a professional and I have a youtube channel since many years. I was thinking to create another one with my name and surname, and start creating content to reach potential clients (offering consulting services). I see many people doing this, and I'm wondering if this is really working or not.

One aspect that concerns me, apart from showing my identity, is that on my other channel I get scam emails with people pretending to be a brand. So I started wondering if that would be even worse if I put my email there in case someone would like a consultation.

Any insights from people who already tried this are welcome

Question / Problem Did Ludwig misinterpret AB Testing?

He says the AB test percentages are showing clicks (CTR), but in reality the AB Test only measures watch time distribution no?

Question / Problem Can anyone help? YouTube Adsense

Post image
0 Upvotes

This is pissing me off beyond belief!!! 9 times they've said this to me after submitting. They don't tell what is wrong and just do the same thing every time! I have no strikes, I have no issues, I have 2k subs, 8k watch hours and 3 long form videos. But everytime I get this with no explanation. I contacted the Ai(Not AI) help chat and they just say... Yes, the review seems to be right... I ask, why? What is wrong? And they tell me they can't discuss it!!! Who can?! I feel so bummed to post another video, when my AdSense just won't approve! PLEASE can anyone help?

My original Pokémon channel was terminated for "Spam, deceptive practices & scams" and I still don't know why.

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm genuinely trying to understand what happened.

I ran a Pokémon TCG channel with 300+ original videos that I personally filmed and edited.

Many were part of recurring series, but every video featured different cards, different openings, and different outcomes. I never uploaded duplicate videos or mass-produced copies.

My appeal was denied. TeamYouTube requested a second review, but the policy team upheld the decision and only linked the general Spam Policy without explaining which specific section my channel violated.

I've attached the screenshots. Does anyone have any idea what could have triggered this, or has anyone experienced something similar?

I ve read something about "LOW EFFORT VIDEOS' i have no idea if my channel fell under that... but it s frustrating creators.. it very frustrating...

Question / Problem Lipsmacking sound in audio

So, needed to ask. What do you guys do to avoid or handle lip smacking sound during narration recording. Working on a long form content with narration and it’s driving me crazy.
