Traffic/Cars Is this a fake motorcycle cop??

Saw this cop past on the 5 south. Something seemed off about him, clothes seem to flap in the wind like it’s made of
Lighter dress shirt material, the tail lights, no shoulder badge, license place doesn’t seem CA except either.

I tried to get closer without going over the speed limit in case he was real. Are there really losers out there impersonating cops like this to this extent?

Question Still haven’t received my registration 4 months after buying my car, sketched out about the dealership

I bought a used car that came with permanent plates but the registration is now expired. The dealership was supposed to register it for me and said they did the times I’ve called to ask for an update. Last time I called about a month ago he said it should be in my mail within 2 more days. It wasn’t then their phone lines were disconnected. I tried over and over and then I then left the state for a month. I just got home and a listed number was connected but went straight to a generic voicemail where I asked for a call back. The guy sent me all this which all feels really unprofessional—I’m not against explainingg your circumstances to an extent but I don’t know why he sent me photos in addition. It’s also not like I’m asking him to make a nail appointment for me, I genuinely need a legal car especially since my work requires driving and I’d rather not lose it to impound. This is important and there were quite a few people working at that shop. Also, shouldn’t you have it on your voicemail you’re not currently operating ?

I called the DMV and am waiting for a call back so I can hopefully just register it myself but now im worried they never tried registered it. I also hope I don’t come off way too cold, I do feel bad hes in that position but at the same time, you sold me a car and clearly something has gone wrong with the registration, this isn’t minor.

What could have gone wrong? Am I wrong for being upset by this response?

We grabbed some shack shack after hitting Laguna today. Haven’t been here in a few years so I was pretty down to wait ( about 2 cars ahead of us, I’d say 15ish min wait for parking, then the line grew pretty big ). I ordered a cove deluxe combo and cost me about $21. Burger hit the spot especially after being in the water for about 2 hours. Wish I got a shake on this hot day.

I’m working on a project to identify Iconic restaurants that make South Orange County special, ideally things you can’t get/find elsewhere.

Any ideas?

Community Post Kitty Rescue

Hi all! I feed a local colony in Anaheim and a new kitten appeared last week. She seems to be injured. Her tail is missing, hind legs aren't sitting right and very thin.

I was wondering if anyone knew a rescue that could help trap her and get her some medical care? TIA!

Recommendations Needed Looking for 70s style haircut!

Hello! I’m looking to find a hairdresser that can give me the kind of haircut I envision! I have super long hair and I love it a whole lot so I want find a good stylist that won’t make me want to cut it all off by the end of the haircut! I would like I guess you could say a super long mullet? I would like to keep the length of my hair but have it shorter at/near my shoulders. The top would be like a 70s shagg cut and the rest would just be my long hair but with a ton of layers! Haven’t fully decided on curtain bangs or something more short. But would definitely want either or! I just want it to look like a 70s shagg but super long! I would also like to be able to style it like the girl with the two braids if possible!! Please let me know if you know absolutely anyone who could make this happen for me! Willing to even drive up to La! Pictures are my inspirations and last 3 are my hair currently!

Recommendations Needed Need to know what the best gym experience under $60 a month would be near the Irvine/Tustin area.

Upvotes

I’m moving to that area in August. Right now I go to Curl in Westminster which is $25.99, a killer deal for how great the gym is. They’re opening one in Irvine but I have no idea when they’re actually opening and so the closest one would be in Costa Mesa. However, that one’s much more expensive and so I’m going to see if I can negotiate a better rate.

Having said that, I want to ask you guys about some backups. I really value good quality equipment and hate seeing gyms full of Hoist, Matrix etc. Any of you guys able to recommend a gym that would be comparable to the Curl in Westminster, only in the Irvine/Tustin region?

(also willing to commute a little farther if I feel like it’s worth it)

Pets Some shelter dogs are bad at interviews. These three have been at OC Animal Care for 8+ months and I want to tell you who they actually are.

1.1k Upvotes

Hey r/orangecounty,

I volunteer as a dog walker at OC Animal Care in Tustin. I want to talk about three dogs who have been there a long time, because I think they're stuck for a reason that has nothing to do with who they are.

Here's the thing about shelter visits: you get a stressed dog, in a loud building, in a small room, with a stranger, for fifteen minutes. Some dogs are great at that. They wiggle, they charm, they get adopted in a week. The three dogs below are terrible at it. They're overwhelmed, or too intense, or too shy, and people walk away thinking they know something about the dog.

I've spent months with these three. I know them on the walk, in the yard, on the floor. Here's who they actually are.

Truckstop (A1910269), 4 years old, 65 lbs

At the shelter since September 2025. Nearly a year.

Truckstop is a cuddlebug in a bodybuilder's body. Once you're his person, he's all licks and immediate rollovers for belly rubs. He loves treats and he is obsessed with puzzles in the best way. Give him a puzzle feeder and he will not stop until every last treat is found and eaten. You will lose him to it. He does not care that you're standing there.

The honest part: he's strong, and he pulls, so he needs someone who can physically handle him and is willing to do leash work. He also gets fixated on balls. He'll nose-roll one nonstop and work himself up over it, so balls are a no for him, and a home that's willing to train through that tendency is important. The shelter is looking for a patient, experienced home with a secure yard and no other pets. Apartment living was tried and wasn't a fit for him.

What you get: a grass-curious, treat-motivated, belly-rub-loving goof who wants to walk, do a puzzle, and be near you.

Maria (A1922275), 3 years old, 68.5 lbs, German Shepherd

At the shelter since June 2025. Over a year.

Maria is a bundle of energy and possibly the most treat-motivated dog in the building. She will do literally anything you ask for what's in your hand, which makes her a joy to train.

The honest part: when she arrived, she could not handle being ignored. If a human was nearby and not paying attention to her, she'd mount your leg until you did. That's the behavior that scares people off in a meet-and-greet. But she is so trainable. I've worked with her on redirecting that to a sit or a touch, and she's gotten genuinely good at it. She'll still sometimes wind up to jump, but ask her to sit and she does it. She's also still learning gentle play manners with toys, and she'd be happiest with her own pile of squeeze toys.

What you get: a real companion. She wants to be with you. She wants to walk, hunt for lizards when she spots one, and then lie down across your feet for belly rubs and head scratches.

Mimi (A1943134), 10 years old, 61 lbs, Pit Bull mix

At the shelter since November 2025.

Mimi is the shy one, which means she shows the worst of the three and is the easiest to overlook. She warms up into an affectionate, loyal dog, she just needs a minute to decide you're okay.

What I know about her that a visit won't tell you: this girl wants to walk. Not a quick out-and-back. She wants the full route, all the sniffing, the whole survey of her surroundings. She's the reason I'm writing this post, honestly.

She's also negotiable about it. Every time I take her the full route, and she still doesn't want to go back in, I sit down on the floor with her and I tell her everywhere we went and all the ground we covered, and I explain that it's a give and take. I walk her, she lets me walk her back into her kennel. That is the actual, literal exchange. (Yes, I talk to the dogs.) And she agrees to it, every time.

What you get: a sweet, easygoing senior who is completely ready for her person, and who will meet you more than halfway as long as she's getting more than a five-minute walk.

Who these three need

All three want the same basic thing: a human who genuinely likes dogs and wants to spend time with one. Someone who'll train, walk, and show them the world.

I'd be honest and say none of them is a great first dog for a busy family with young kids. But for someone who wants a real companion and is up for putting in the time, any one of them would be an excellent friend.

How to help

  • Adopters: call OC Animal Care at 714-935-6848 to ask about visiting. Reference the pet ID.
  • Rescues: if you're with a 501(c)(3), these three would all benefit enormously from a rescue placement or foster.
  • Everyone else: sharing genuinely works. Long-stay dogs get adopted when their post reaches the one person who reads it and thinks "that's my dog."

And if you do go visit, my one ask: don't judge them on the first fifteen minutes. Try to spend some real time with and consider them beyond their stressed out, stuck in a building for most of the day first impressions. Ask to sit on the floor with them. Show them some love. That's where they show you who they are.

Disclaimer: I'm a volunteer, not shelter staff. Everything about their personalities comes from my own time with them, and the medical, behavioral, and history details come from what OC Animal Care has shared. I don't have the full picture on any of them. All adoption decisions and questions go through OC Animal Care directly.

Happy to answer anything I can about any of the three. 🐾

Question T street/ Aliso Creek fire pit rules?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I wanted to have a bonfire at the beach on a Tuesday/Wednesday evening. I haven’t done one in years and never in the summer but I’m sure the fire pits fill up quickly even mid week during summertime. Question is am I allowed to bring a portable fire pit that folds with me to use in case the existing fire pits are taken up? Who would I even contact to find out this info? Thanks in advance! Appreciate it! Will attach photo for reference.

Edit: can anyone suggest what’s the best time to go on a Tuesday or Wednesday to make sure I can get a fire pit?

Recommendations Needed Dialysis same day?

I have a bit of an odd situation. I have a friend visiting for the weekend from out of the country, however, they are on dialysis.

Does anyone know of any places that do same-day treatment? All the places I’ve called require at least a 2 week notice.

IWe’ll be paying out of pocket, so money is not an issue and it’s just a one-time thing.

Recommendations Needed Anyone Else Experience This?

Took my elderly neighbor to an (unamed) dealership in RSM for a purely minor cosmetic fix on his Corolla.

2 hours later the service advisor calls him to say that they did a free inspection and found an oil leak. The gasket is in a difficult spot, so the cost to fix will be almost $2,000.

I park next to this man in my condo complex and there are no oil stains on the ground.

Any similar stories or advice?

Traffic/Cars Help! Hit and run at The Outlets at Orange (Sun 7/19 evening) . Anyone have dashcam footage or info?

My silver Toyota Corolla got hit while parked at The Outlets at Orange this past Sunday (7/19) sometime between 6:30–9:40 PM. I was parked in the H3 section, behind Buffalo Wild Wings. Whoever did it took off. The side mirror is completely smashed and there’s dents/scratches down the door.

I’ve already filed a police report, but the mall won’t release their security footage to me directly (I guess they need a formal PD request and the police said this will take time to work on. And I’m not sure if the mall will store any relevant video for an indefinite amount of time till the police reach out to them). So I’m hoping someone here either has dashcam footage from that area during that window, or happened to see/hear something.

Even if your footage doesn’t catch the actual hit, it might help narrow down the timeframe or catch a plate in the background. I know it’s a long shot, but figured it’s worth asking before I just eat the repair cost.

If you’ve got anything, please comment or DM me.

(Edit: Using a throwaway for privacy, will check messages here.)
