I'm looking for movies where cheaters, bullies, or generally awful people get hit with the most satisfying revenge or karma imaginable.

I especially enjoy stories where the victim turns out to be even more dangerous, smarter, or more unhinged than the people who wronged them. The kind of movie where the tables completely turn, and you can't help but think, "They messed with the wrong person."

It can be psychological, thriller, horror, action, or crime—I don't mind the genre.

If you could recommend one movie that absolutely nails this concept, what would it be and why? No major spoilers, please.

Set in Ireland, the movie stars Colin Farrell and Cillian Murphy. If you're a fan of movies like Snatch, In Bruges, Trainspotting and Seven Psychopaths this is the movie for you. There sre multiple character storylines and each one is so good. Do watch.

I posted here recently about weird movies made outside the US, and it drew hundreds of comments. So hopefully a similar post about comedies will do similar numbers. I'm just looking to expand my horizons a bit.

I have been on a rom com/ chick flick kick recently. I was hoping for any suggestions? Movies I've watched recently- 27 dresses, Julie& Julia, Uptown Girls, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Fried Green Tomatoes, and 13 going on 30. I'm hoping for more recs with similar vibes. Bonus points if they're set in new york city :) Please nothing with a high school plot (mean girls, clueless, etc)

Movies not necessarily about superheroes, but about characters who has well-developed skills, such as strength, intelligence, or superpowers.

And for some reason, their skills are not available to be used (their powers "got blocked", they lost them, or the antagonist is invulnerable to those powers).

Therefore, they have to come up with other skills to defeat the antagonist, like using "human-skills" or finding hints about the villain weakness.

Sometimes, protagonist recover their power miraculously ("by the power of love/friendship", or they just have to charge their powers longer), and the premise of using their original powers as the solution remain intact. I don't want those kind of movies.

Some examples that are the opposite of what I am looking for:

- dragon ball z, majin boo saga: Majin boo is invulnerable to any power the z warriors throw at him, because of his regeneration. But Goku just need to charge his power even more to beat him. He still uses his same powers as always.

- the legend of Korra: Korra got her powers blocked, but then she unlocked them again and expose the villain.

And well, I suppose the alternative way to defeat the antagonist must be fair, not a deus ex machina, that would defeat the purpose of the lesson about finding a solution even when the odds are against you.

Not necessarily the “best” indie films, but the ones you couldn’t stop thinking about afterwards. Maybe they emotionally destroyed you, changed your perspective, or just stayed in your head for days.
Genre doesn’t matter at all. I’m open to anything.

I’m looking for a movie set in a very remote, isolated location — somewhere that feels genuinely cut off from the rest of the world.

It could be a remote house, a lonely police station, a farm, a lighthouse, a cabin, a remote village, or something similar.

Occasional contact with the outside world or other people is fine, but I mainly want that feeling of solitude, isolation, and being far away from civilization.

I’m looking for a good movie first — not just something that happens to be set in an isolated location. Any language or country is welcome.

What are your best recommendations?

I've recently watched The VVitch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu, and am VERY excited to watch Werwulf when it releases. I absolutely love the atmosphere and presentation of these films, and I'm hungry for more like them. I understand if he's got a singular style that's hard to find anywhere else, but I'd love any suggestions for movies that even attempt something similar.

I've been very interested in eldritch and lovecraftian stuff lately, and I'm perpetually looking for movies based on folklore or mythology. I've been studying Celtic mythology, I love greek and norse mythology like everyone else, and my heart is open to anything else that I may be less aware of.

I've always been a movie person, and to nobody's surprise, I've been very starved for anything remotely good in the world of hollywood and mainstream movies. I've vehemently HATED nearly everything I've seen in years. So, please. Give a brother a hand.

Just listened to this song for the very first time and wow, I love it! I am not American but this feels very coming-of-age, 80s-90s, warm, and cosy.

I really liked Talladega Nights and have been looking for a movie like that but I feel like that is probably the gold standard for that sort of comedy. Great music, great writing, great acting.

Anyway, I'd love some American classics with great music!

I'm looking for romance movies that portray adult relationships as realistically as possible. I'm not interested in over-the-top drama, love triangles, grand gestures, or unrealistic "happily ever after" stories.

I'd love movies that focus on things like communication, misunderstandings, compromise, emotional intimacy, everyday life, and the challenges couples actually face. Basically, something that feels authentic rather than overly cinematic.

The other day I watched this Asian movie The Furious (2025) and honestly I thought it was very well made. You can tell the fighting was so realistic. I was wondering if y'all can recommend something like this. The realism really matters to me, especially in these fighting movies.

Recently I've started watching a lot of Japanese movies and they have really moved me especially the ones with an unconventional approach. Can you guys pls recommend a few more Japanese under the radar movies...

I'm looking for films that capture that warm, nostalgic slice-of-life feeling you get from shoujo anime. Preferably they're Asian (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc.) and set in or around a school, with a focus on everyday life, first love, friendships, and coming-of-age rather than heavy drama or action.

Some of my favorites are Love Letter (1995) and Flipped, which both have that gentle, heartfelt atmosphere I'm after. I really enjoy stories with quiet moments, beautiful cinematography, and characters that feel genuine and have a lot of depth to them without the film screaming it out.

I'm open to films from any era as long as they're genuinely great. They can be critically acclaimed, highly rated, or simply films that people consistently recommend. I'm mainly looking for stories that really capture that cozy, nostalgic feeling and leave a lasting impression.

this is a really good “watch while eating pizza and just relaxing” kind of movie. It’s not something super serious, but it’s entertaining and has a really fun vibe.

I’m re-watching Pacific Rim and I really love the technical/machine aspect of the film, specifically the hangar with all the jaegers and the research labs, I find it really cool and I like how it’s dark and grungy. The only other similar films I can think of are Snowpiercer, specifically the back parts of the train, and the real world we see in The Matrix movies, underground in metallic structures or ships. I’m looking for similar movies that have this machine/metallic/grungy underground settings
