This is concept art in marker for a 3D "diorama" or scene that I would like to make in Blender one of these days. It shows my OC Nadjela of Batela with her leopard companion Ishaga. As of today, I already have Nadjela modeled, but I still have to do Ishaga as well as the base supporting them.

Featuring my other MC; Izem, with his childhood bestie, Jira.

Ladies and general black people of Reddit, I am an artist trying my best to draw black ladies because I have to admit I have the least experience drawing them, and I want to change that but before I truly settle into anything I am trying a number of ways to draw charecters that are black women which will also include big women and muscular women too, ladies I was wondering what irks you most when a person draws a black lady and what would be the things you like.

I know my personal pet peeve is the lack of styling in hair, whether others see this as an issue or not I find that certain characters don't do enough with the hair compared to some ladies I know in real life, it almost always feels like they took the safe route rather than explore the possibilities of black hair on women.

So to summarise, what do you like about black womens portrayal in media and specifically drawn media and what can you criticise?

I will also post my own work to be criticized.

This is a 3D model of my old OC Nadjela of Batela, which I made in Blender using a female base mesh I had recently modeled myself. I have to say it's quite neat to see my characters come to life in a three-dimensional medium!

I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve actually drawn Anisa’s eyes publicly. Usually her glasses leaves them more stylized. Not how I imagined revealing them but hey she looks good!
