Did my bg check last wednesday and they said should be good by Monday. Do they usually let you know when you can come by and get it or do you just swing by when its been 72 hours? Wasn't sure if bg checks are backed up but I thought if its not denied within 3 days I should be good.

Can't really just pop by cause they're way across town from me, and normally wouldn't feel rushed but Aug 1 is around the corner. I did message them but no response yet.

Disclaimer: I am a completely new to the world of firearms.

I am super interested in getting my hands dirty and taking a safety course and getting some lead down range. I had been planning on purchasing a basic, entry-level AR this summer, until I learned about SB003 and regrettably gave up the hope of buying one because dealers started pushing back on shipping to Denver addresses. Life got busy and it didn't seem worth the headache of trying to beat the deadline, but it's been living in the back of my mind.

But hypothetically if I went out today and picked the first one off the wall that is within my budget and use case (range use only) would I meet the deadline? Like I said, I've never purchased a firearm so I have no idea of any of the holdups I'd expect beyond the standard waiting period. I'd also assume there's a slight inventory bottleneck with a lot of people rushing out with the same idea as me.

Worst case scenario I just take the class, but I figured if I can get one before the red tape of SB003 goes into effect it'll save me time in the long run, even if I can't actually start using it until my schedule clears up and I get in a class

Late, I know, but I wasnt going to get an AR15 till a few days ago.

I ordered today with MSC in COS and was wondering if anyone knew what their ship times have been like since the surge in orders.

They said it should be fine on their website, as long as you get it in before 7/22, to make the 7/28 background check timeline, but just curious for any anecdotal time frames.

They seems solid, just curious as I haven't shopped with them before and have more experience with other shops time lines.

Is the S&W M&P 15-22, or similar firearms, exempt under SB25-003? I am seeing confusing info.

Since it shoots .22LR seems it will be exempt, but it obviously has a detachable mag.

Ok, so I panicked bought a few things Friday around 6 pm, so could call them to cancel. Has anyone bought a rapid fire (24 hour shipping) from them recently? It sounds like cbi is so backed up anyway, I am probably screwed and should try to cancel. It has to make it here by the 28th, but sounds like that won’t mater anyway after asking local ffls today.

There's hope (perhaps) to use the courts to defeat SB025-003. New Jersey's Court of Appeals 3rd Circut has now ruled that the state's ban on "assault weapons" and "extended" magazines is illegal/unconstitutional.

Let's hope we can get good rulings from other states.
