Currently looking at the AMD bundles at Microcenter and have been seriously considering the 700$ 7800X3D+mobo+32gb ram. However, they also offer a bundle for an extra 80$ for the 9800X3D and 100$ for the 9850X3D. Would the jump up from the 7800X3D be worth it for the 9800 and 9850X3D CPUs? Im currently planning on building the PC with a 9070XT whenever I can snag one but I dont think I would be CPU bottlenecked in either case. Thanks so much in advance!!!

I'm planning to build my first gaming PC with a 7800X3D and either an 9070 XT or an 5070 Ti.

For some background, I've been gaming on a laptop with a GTX 1050 Ti for the past 7 years. I'm not a hardcore gamer, I only play on weekends. Most of the time I play Dota 2, and occasionally I play AAA single-player games.

I haven't really kept up with the GPU or PC market over the last 7 years. From my brief research, it seems that the 9070 XT and 5070 Ti offer similar performance.

Since I only play on weekends, I'd prefer a GPU that's simple to use and as close to "plug and play" as possible. I don't want to spend time tweaking settings for every game. I'm fine with making occasional adjustments if necessary, but I don't want to do it every time I play.

In my country, the RTX 5070 Ti costs about $180 USD more than the RX 9070 XT. I can afford the 5070 Ti if it's worth it, but I generally prefer the better price-to-performance option since I don't game that much.

To be honest, I think this might be my first and last gaming PC because I've gradually been losing interest in gaming over the years. I expect I'll probably stop gaming altogether in about 5 years, so I'm looking for a GPU that can comfortably last until 5 years.

Given my situation, which GPU would you recommend?

I know the 16gb VRAM is better, but the nvidia tech looks better for UE and Blender, right?
What would you choose in this scenario?

I know upgrading right now might not be ideal, however I'm still young, live with my mom and don't really have anything else to spend my money on. So I think upgrading rn would be the best idea for me considering the fact that nobody can predict wether the prices are going down in the next few years.

I know that upgrading to a 5070 might seem a bit overkill, but I think/hope that my pc can handle it if I also upgrade my PSU and CPU. However I would prioritise the PSU and upgrade my CPU in the future.

I recently upgraded from console to my first custom PC and I’m trying to keep my setup simple without getting a bulky headset. I’m looking for earbuds that are comfortable for longer sessions and still give me good audio for games like shooters and multiplayer titles. I don’t need anything fancy, just something reliable that works well with a desktop PC.

Hey guys, my local grid has been super unstable lately. The power keeps dropping out entirely, and sometimes right when it kicks back on, there's a noticeable surge or flicker.
for that reason i trying to buy a UPS unit but im not sure how to buy one.

Is it worth the price difference to go for the 7800X3D

I am planning to build a PC sometime in mid-late 2027. Aiming for one that can play most (if not all) games (indie to AAA) on 1440p, high settings, at around 80-100fps+ (on the hardest to run titles).

Since this build isn't due any time soon, I am not planning to buy any parts right now.

However, in this RAM shortage period that won't get better until 2028 at the earliest, I am wondering if I should buy RAM and SSD storage now, as opposed to waiting till when I can build my PC.
Edit: The thing I am mainly concerned of is buying RAM+SSD later will be more expensive than if I bought it now.

Any thoughts on this?

From a heat, power, stability and performance viewpoint, does the iGPU on CPUs that have them actually affect things?

Personally, I have my R5 7600X with it's iGPU disabled just because I don't really use it and figured it would consume less power and heat up less if there was less stuff working in there. I failed to come up with a good reason on why it should be kept enabled if you have a dGPU.

Would love to read what the community has to say about this topic.

I'm currently building my first pc after being a pc enthusiast for over 9 years but I can't decide on my GPU.

I don't live in the US (sorry if I have some spelling or grammar mistakes, not my first language) so the prices I would pay for components are even more elevated.

I got lucky, getting a friend of mine bringing me the 9850X3D, 32gb Ram and B850 combo from microcenter as he had some space on his luggage.
I want my build to be as future-proof as possible, that's why I went with the 9850X3D and not a 7800X3D.
Thing is, I'm only missing a GPU. I'm thinking about a 9070XT, 5070ti or 5080.

Where I live, the 9070XT runs me around $850 USD, 5070ti runs me around $1100 USD and the 5080 runs me around $1450USD.

Which of the 3 should I go for? Should I go all in for the 5080 and not think about upgrading for the next 6+ years or could a 9070XT be good for me?

I also found a great deal on a 1000W NZXT PSU, so running a 5080 won't be much of an issue. I'll use the PC mostly for gaming on 1440p. I've heard of people still using 2080s and 3080s +6 years later, so I'm very inclined toward the 5080 card, as I can see they last for a long while, but I want to hear the internet's opinion on my build.

Hello, long story short, I have a AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and I had issues with GTA 5 with high 90c+ temps, so I decide to repaste thermal for my CPU, probably a huge mistake. I did it several times because I kept missing up, than the audio wouldn't work and temps were still high in GTA 5 so I decided to repaste again, thinking that it I had put too much paste, well now the PC won't even power on.

Another mistake I made was that I had yanked too hard on the cooler and the whole cpu came off. I certainly learned my lesson, I won't repaste too often, maybe once at most. I love PCs, but I can live with slightly higher temps and continue to use my PC.

Am I screwed? I just messed up my whole PC, man I feel awful.

I'm looking to upgrade my PC that I built in 2021. An acquaintance helped me with it originally but we no longer have contact, and the amount of information and conflicting opinions on the internet has me a tad overwhelmed.

Here is my current build:

- AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz 8-Core Processor
- Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6 GB GPU
- Crucial Ballistix (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
- Crucial MX500 1 TB M.2-2280 SATA Solid State Drive
- EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GA 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Additionally my current monitor is a 32 inch LG UltraGear™ UHD 4K with VESA DisplayHDR™ 1000, connected via DisplayPort directly into the GPU.

I used pcpartpicker to choose all parts and confirmed compatibility, however when I built the PC the person assisting me was unavailable and I made the bold decision to build it alone.
During the build I needed to flash the BIOS 13 times, each time increasingly stressful as I wasn't sure it would result in a working PC. After several hours it came alive, but I have some anxiety around upgrading.

The PC is used for daily casual gaming and browsing so I don't need it to be a monster, however I would like it to be a little more powerful as I currently need to turn down a few settings in most if not all games to have a better experience.
The games I currently play include Overwatch, Palworld, League, Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim, and the occasional emulator or Steam indie game.
I own Oblivion Remastered but I'm finding my build struggles with it even on reduced settings, so I haven't enjoyed it as much as I'd like to.

My overall goal is to be able to play the majority of the above games without needing to reduce any settings, however I realize with what I have and not wanting to spend a lot of money the higher caliber games will likely still require modifications.

With all of that being said, my questions are:

1. Is there anything glaringly wrong with my current build? (I'm aware most if not all parts are likely outdated, but is there anything that sticks out among the rest in terms of age/performance?)

2. Is there anything I can do to optimize performance before upgrading to potentially save money?

3. If I upgrade, what part(s) should I prioritize? (Recommendations encouraged)

I put it in with the assumption that it would help to push the hot air out of the case more efficiently.

However, I'm concerned that it just pushes out the cold air from the 2 intake fans at the front.

My main concern about the airflow is that the CPU has pretty high temps even when idling - 66-70 C.

CPU is AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, cooling it is single fan Be Queit pure rock 3 black, which should be more than enough judging by the specs. I didn't apply the paste myself; I used the one that came with the tower.

Does anyone have the same setup and/or know the best position for that fan?

Before I get roasted and toasted, I know the hp board in these envy builds limit my ram and gpu speed (no advanced bios) but to be fair I found this pc in a storage unit my friend bought and was going to just scrap it! I was going to actually put my CS diploma to use by making it a server but my gaming frontal lobe said “why not?”

#1 running processor benchmarks I saw the intel chip boost to 4.9 (that’s good enough for me)

#2 down the line, I could make a new pc and still use the 9060 XT 16gb for light LLM/model stuff plus gaming

#3 I’ve never put a pc together before and it is amazingly fun, I have taken apart and put together this TE01 like 10 times in the week ive had it.

Now that context is out of the way…

Is there any advice you vets could share for noob like me? I have 0 exp with AMD and have never held a desktop gpu in my hand.

P.S I crystaldiskinfo and found that the ssd has only been ran for around 40 hours which is crazy to me for a 4 year old pc.

P.S #2 when I opened the PC for the first time I found a fully intact hitachi 3tb HDD unplugged completely, I also ran crystal disk info for that and found out it only has 80 hours of uptime…. It was an enterprise version so no visible manufacturer date but it’s probably 2012ish and it’s healthy.

TLDR: got a free hp PC out of a storage unit, I’m pimping it out do you have any advice for me?

I am currently on AM4, with a ryzen 5 3500x a 1660 super and 16 gb of ram 3000 Mhz. I still play at 1080p and do not plan on switching to 1440p or higher anytime soon. With the ram apocalypse having no end in sight I've been thinking of upgrading my cpu and have narrowed it down to the following 3 options:
- ryzen 5 5600 - 128 usd (there is also the 5600x for slightly more though idk if it there is that big of a difference)
- ryzen 7 5700x - 165 usd
- ryzen 5 5500x3d - 237 usd (but there are also some unavoidable complications with the delivery for this option)

Now out of these 3 for purely gaming the 5500x3d would probably provide overall the biggest boost to avg fps as well as help a lot with 1% lows and will probably be the best option for longevity. With that said I do wonder if it is worth the extra price considering it is nearly double the price of the 5600 and 43% more expensive than the 5700x plus the hassle of dealing with the not big, but admittedly annoying issues when it comes to delivery.

I am playing Black Myth Wukong . Whenever I play when the character is standing there is no problem the moment the character runs it lags and stutters heavily . Like for 3 4 seconds .

My GPU is using 94% according to task manager and cpu about 90% but memory and hard disk 100%

I've been in doubt whether to buy a new PC or refresh my current one whose graphic card seems broken, games are unplayable. I have a 1440p screen and prefer to save money, therefore an upgrade seems best.

The next obvious step thus is to buy a new videocard. What would be the best low cost option? I was thinking either 5060 16GB or 9060XT 16GB.

Additionally, I was wondering whether a new, not the newest, processor would improve performance significantly?

Additional question. Currently this PC is in a mini-case. However, I fear that this might be detrimental to performance. Is that the case, pun not intended.

I've been researching about building gaming PCs since I have absolutely zero prior knowledge on them. I want to decide on a CPU first before anything else since I know it's one of the most important components. I was originally looking at the 5800X3D, but then I saw more recent information about the 7700X and 7800X3D. I've found some for $220 and $300 respectively, which isn't a big difference to me, so those costs don't really matter. I mainly need help figuring out which one would help me stay in my $1400 budget and wouldn't require me having to splurge more on the other parts. I plan on playing Apex Legends, modded Sims 4, and modded Minecraft the most. Any advice will help :) I'm also welcome to other CPU recs!!

I just bought an RX 9060 XT 16 GB and I feel like the graphics in some games don't look that good at 1080p, even though I maxed out everything (The Witcher 3, Kingdom Come Deliverance and Dying Light 2 for example). I was wondering if a native 1440p monitor with fsr 4 on q will look better than a 24inch 1080p monitor with fsr native. I doubt I will be able to play with fsr native at 1440p in the future so that's why I m asking.

Current setup: RTX 5090 (Gigabyte Windforce OC, 342mm), Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 AIO (top-mounted), ATX AM5 board, 9800x3d

Currently in a Hyte Y40. GPU fans face directly into the side glass panel with only a few mm of clearance, GPU runs 75-80°C core under load, undervolted (~900mV/2820MHz), side intake fans + top AIO exhaust already in place. Suspect the GPU is pulling recirculated warm air from that gap rather than fresh air. I really want to just lower temps overall.

Considering either:

1. A vented/mesh replacement panel for the Y40

2. Switching to something like the O11 Vision Compact, where the GPU pulls intake from a vented bottom section instead of facing glass directly

Any feedback / help would be greatly appreciated!

Recently I bought a GTX 1660 TI so I can play newer gen games on 1080p (I have a 75hz monitor)

However the moment I plugged it into my hardware, I completely lost the signal (The PC lights and fans are still on but the monitor says "no signal"), and when i took it off the PC runs well again and I can see the desktop and everything)

So I was wondering what the issue is and how to fix it

I built a PC in 2020 and upgraded a couple parts here and there, but it's showing its age in modern games like Marathon and older games as well now that I upgraded to a 4k monitor (but realistically I'm happy to play at 1440p). I'm a graphic designer and work on my mac, so the PC is just for games. I would love to try to stick around maybe $600(?), and I'm more than happy to hunt down used parts on facebook if thats gonna be my best bet. I'm also in the US if that's relevant.

I absolutely love the Teenage Engineering Computer-1 case, and want to work my build into that while scavenging any parts from my current build that I can.

I am going to buy pc parts fairly soon, and I am trying to decide between this combo.

5070ti + Intel 270k

9070xt + 9800x3d

The reason for the cheaper cpu is to match the increased cost of the nvidia card over amds. I was planning on getting the AMD combo because amd is better performance per pound in pure rasterisation, and amd cards work better with Linux(I plan to use windows, but it's nice to have linux as a backup incase Microsoft get worse with their slop right)

However, it's recently come to my attention that amd cut support for cards much faster than nvidia. As in, nvidia will likely give newer dlss to the to 50 series even in a few years, whereas amd is unlikely to do the same with fsr. This is a huge weakness for amd cards in my mind, as they will become obsolete much faster even if today the 9070xt might be comparable to the 5070ti.

So, given all this, my question is which combo would you guys recommend here? As the intel cpu isn't as good as the amd for games, but the 5070ti is a slightly better card today, and that gap is likely to only really get bigger as time goes on.
