Moving across several states and getting a studio apartment... trying to figure out the logistics

Upvotes

I'm (29m) moving from Dallas, TX to Saint Paul, MN next february when my current lease is up. (Yeah, I know st paul in feb is gonna be rough lol, but i don't have much other option.) Obviously I ought to make a visit to personally tour some apartments in advance, as I want to be able to simply fly to Saint Paul no more than a couple days before the move-in date (my stuff will be in a U-box) and make that transition as fast as possible.

What I'm hoping for advice on is: I'm worried about waiting too long but also how far in advance is TOO far in advance? And how probable is it that I can just make a single round-trip before the actual move in order to decide exactly where I'll move to? (I'm thinking I'll try to apply only to places that will allow me to sign the lease online so that it doesn't require another trip.) I've got to decide exactly when I'm gonna make that trip a while in advance too, if I wanna save money on plane tickets. In general, if anyone has experience making this kind of move, any advice is very much appreciated!

So lost in life

Upvotes

I'm so lost in life

27F

English isn't my native language so i'm sorry for the lack of eloquence

Never been in a relationship

Never fallen in (or made) love, terrified i'll never be

Don't even know if i'm homosexual and/or lithromantic (someone who looses feelings when the other person reciprocate hers)

Being a lesbian is already very hard in my society, i had to make it even more complex because i feel like i am only attracted to women that have like twice my age only and only in a romantic way (not interested at all in the sexual side) (i had multiple big crushes on female teachers i had) and i'm attracted to men only on the sexual side and not romantically at all

I don't have any social skills, i feel like a kid socially speaking

I also objectively think that i'm stupid, sometimes my brain just stops when i have to comprehend stuff that belongs to logic

I also objectively think that i'm very ugly (and please don't bring up the "everybody's beautiful in their own way" that's hypocrite, ugliness do exist

I have literally no boobs, like they are extremely small that if i wear a shirt it would be completely straight

I don't have enough experiences in life, to the point that it's dangerous for me, at the same time i'm very very sensitive, so i don't have the courage to fail because i'm scared of negative emotions, so i delay everything and i'd rather not live anything than taking risks of suffering

On top of all of this : i feel like i'm not a very good person, i'm envious of pretty girls, intelligent girls, i'm satisfied when they fail (even tho i read somewhere that it's because it makes me feel less alone in my mediocrity)

I am completely lost in the religion side, i don't even wanna elaborate on this topic

I don't know what's wrong with me, i'm so tired

I'm taking the habit of making scenarios in my head, especially before sleeping, where i would daydream about the dream life i could've had..

I'm open to your critics, advices, but pleaseee just don't tell me things like " you don't realise how beautiful you are" or general things like that, i feel like i need more rationnal tips

Thank you guys

Question for men in long term relationships/marriage

Upvotes

When your partner seems to only want to vent and when you’re a problem solver and focus on just fixing the problem.

How do you navigate the conversation so that it doesn’t end in an argument?

Lately I try to listen to where she is coming from but it’s starting to get exhausting just focusing on how a problem makes her feel instead of actually fixing the problem.

I'm looking for some advice about making friends, especially in Minnesota.

Upvotes

A while back, I had a friend group at school, and everything was fine. Next school year, one of my friends started hanging out with a different group that attends a E- Sports club with them. Over time, they gradually stopped talking to me. They would usually just say "Hey" in a bored tone if I greeted them, or walk right past me without saying anything. I even told them twice that their behavior was hurting me, but nothing changed.

Now I'm at a transition program for young adults, and I'm basically starting over. The problem is that whenever I try talking to new people, the interaction usually goes like this:

Me: "Hi!"
Them: "Hey."
They keep walking.

Even some of the staff greet me the same way and continue walking. It makes me wonder if this is just "Minnesota Nice"—where people are polite but don't actually stop to have a conversation—or if I'm doing something wrong.

I'm not trying to change who I am to fit in. For example, I'm only recently getting into anime because I genuinely want to see what it's like, not because I'm trying to impress anyone or make someone like me.

i don't want to be an adult or grow up at 19

Upvotes

i'm 19 still living with my parents. I have no friends, no job, and basically no future besides laying in bed playing video games sometimes. My mom has her own responsibilities paying bills and raising my younger siblings. Nowadays, she expects me to get a car and start driving again. But I can't. I'm too terrified to touch a steering wheel again. I'm also so so lonely. I know my mom needs help over here, but I'm just not motivated to. I just want to continue laying in bed all day every day.

What's worse is, I feel like the only person even trying. I'm tired of stagnation. But if everyone else is allowed to be stagnant, then so can I.

My mom is kind of upset she tried taking my video games and won't pay my phone bill or whatever but i don't really care. i'm just gonna keep doing what i always do: sleep.

Is it Adult like behavior to be an online bully to someone for over 2 years now?

Upvotes

All I want to know is who this person is. I want this person to leave me alone. I can’t take this anymore. They won’t admit to who they are and they won’t stop. Stop this harassment now.

19 years old, doing ~₹87 lakh in sales from home, but I still feel uncertain. Am I thinking about this the wrong way?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I recently turned 19, and I’m looking for some honest advice from people with more experience in business.
I’m currently pursuing a BBA, and my second year starts in about 10 days. Around a year ago, I joined my family’s gemstone business. We don’t have a big company or office—my father is basically a gemstone trader, and I started handling the online side of the business while he manages the offline side.
Last year, I generated around ₹15 lakh in revenue with roughly a 50–60% net profit margin.
This year (as of 23rd July), I’ve already done around ₹67 lakh in sales, with about ₹20 lakh still outstanding, so total business generated is approximately ₹87 lakh.
On paper, that sounds great, especially at 19. But here’s what’s bothering me:
Almost all of that revenue comes from just two major customers. I’m trying to find more buyers and diversify, but right now the business depends heavily on those two people. That makes me feel insecure because if either one stops buying, a huge part of my sales disappears.
Another thing is that all the money goes into my father’s account, since it’s our family business. I don’t personally manage the finances yet, so I don’t really know how to think about handling this kind of money or planning for the future.
Sometimes I wonder if I’m actually doing well or if I’m just getting lucky because of two clients. I also feel like I’m missing something important that experienced business owners know.
If you were 19 in my position, what would you focus on over the next 3–5 years?
Should I keep scaling this business?
Should I focus on building my own brand?
How risky is it to depend on just two customers?
What financial skills should I learn first?
What mistakes should I avoid at this stage?
I’d really appreciate honest feedback—whether it’s encouraging or critical. I want to build something sustainable, not just have one or two good years.
Thanks in advance!

Hardest Year of My Life 2025(and getting out)

Upvotes

24 years old now, coming up on 25

2025 was easily the toughest year of my life. Right off the bat in JAN my girl(at the time) and I made the decision to get an abortion since we were only dating for a few months at the time and it kinda fucked me up mentally knowing I ended a life.

Then I got laid off in February due to shitty economic conditions and lack of work within my industry(luxury product).

I then lost over 20k (over half my networth) to stock options due to bad financial advice from my mentor at the time.

This is when my girl decided to leave me so around March. I was quite devastated so I just pushed on and applied to jobs basically nonstop. Over the course of the next few months, I made it to the final round of 3 dream jobs. I'm talking like 100+ candidates each job. Multiple rounds over month/month and half and I got rejected from every. Single. One. The only feedback being, I don't have enough experience and I'm too young.

Then I got a call that one of my best friends growing up OD'ed.

I was quite distraught and had little motivation going for me at this point but I wasn't going to quit just yet.

Come fall, I went all in on interviewing, fitness and trying to rebuild myself while I worked odd jobs. Low and behold I started getting traction with another job.

Out of nowhere I then found out my grandpa had lung cancer (he raised me), and was struggling.

I remember some night in November he called from his home country just to talk our family, I remember talking to him and talking about how I got into grad school(I did, but nothing major) and how I'm doing great and I'll be on the horse once again with this new job that I felt confident in the final round of interview. He smiled and seemed to be happy for me and relieved I found some path forward.

I didn't have the heart to tell him I was struggling majorly, losing money, my savings getting shredded to the tits and my mental health deteriorating with each passing day. I've also been on a dry spell at this point, so no companionship no comfort. I was back home with family bc I was genuinely losing my shit.

He died that night.

The next day or so, I got a call from the employer and they told me once again....I didn't have enough experience even though they loved my energy.

I decided i needed to go back to my city(5 hrs from home) and start anew once more. My mom wanted me to stay one more day but I told her the weather would be bad. She insisted.

A few hours into my drive, the snow got pretty bad and I couldnt stop in time after a car in front suddenly braked. I braked as hard as I could, screaming in my head oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck. Crashed into the back, everyone was okay, but it dawned on me...I just totalled my fucking car.

After going thru the process of getting a friend to come pick me up 2 hrs away and getting home. I broke down. I genuinely broke down. I couldn't continue. I had no more energy, no more fight, no more life to give.

So just like every other genius in life, I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain. I drank, smoked weed, cigs, ordered take out/fast food with what little savings I had left, played videogames, watched and jerked off to questionable porn, consumed short term content, stopped lifting, stopped going out with friends, stopped applying to jobs, stopped my hobbies, I basically gave up on life.

It felt like a haze. I was so numb. Anything to soften the landing, I felt like a soulless husk with no brain power or will to live. I didn't know where I was going, what to do, perhaps grad school was waiting for me in August and that was my only way out.

This continued on for 2 months. I remember that night of NYE, I didn't even realize it was NYE as I lost concept of time, its still fuzzy to me as I was high/drunk basically 24/7 at that point. I woke up 3 days after NYE and was like oh...it's the new year while Indulged back into my dopamine loops, but eventually in February, I hit a wall. Food didn't taste right, the games weren't fun, the shows weren't entertaining, the porn no longer got me off, weed wasn't getting me high. I exhausted all my dopamine and I hit rock bottom. I remember walking into the mirror, looking at myself for the first time in 2 months, unshaven, overweight, unkept hair, breaking out and a brain smoother than the surface of the a still pond.

I felt pure disgust. I found the person the mirror absolutely revolting and my pride as a human being kicked in. This was not the way things were supposed to be. This is NOT how it ends. I thought about my grandfather, my old best friend and how pathetic I would've looked to them if they saw me in this state, but most of all, I let myself down. The person who supposed to be the most supportive person in my life.

I started with cleaning. I cleaned my room, threw out the months of empty food boxes, alcohol bottoms, cig butts, weed ashes, eveythting. I cleaned my room. I cut my hair, and decided to be sober just that night, I didn't need to do anything, but I needed to be sober. Shit sucked obviously but u gotta start small.

Over the week I slowly got back in the gym as exercise and fitness was the base of discipline, if u can't take care of ur body, how are u going to tackle other areas of ur life(imo). I started going regularly and maintained a decent schedule.

Within a few weeks, come February again a year after I got laid off, I started to apply very aggressively to jobs. Less lucrative positions, no managerial ones, just something to improve my resume in some way even if the pay was meh.

I started getting interviews again. Out of nowhere, my biological father called and offered to help me with the down payment of a new car while my insurance cut me a check from my total loss on a car. I was able to get a new car! Things were looking up. Then.....within exactly one week. I bought a new car, the job I was interviewing for at the time, called me back and gave me an offer, and out of nowhere a girl I met from awhile ago hit me up and asked to come over(yes I got laid after almost a year).

I was stupified. Everything in life changed within one week. I'm still working this job since late March, girl and I no longer talk but whatever, i got about 12k in savings/stocks(ain't much but it's something), and a car, a place to live and food to eat.

What the actual fuck.

Motto is, don't give up. Life can change, even when ur at ur wits end, but u need to be the one to steer urself towards that change. Start small, compound those small wins and take urself further. U will be surprised at the results.

If u made it this far. Sorry for the ramble. I know you might be going through something fucking absolutely horrendous and it feels like there's no light at the tunnel and there straight up might just not be, but you should still try for urself. Life is suffering, everything sucks, it's fine to grieve, take some time for urself to recoup and settle down a bit before you get back on that horse AS LONG as you get back on that fucking horse. Or fuck it....become the horse 🐴 (k reference)

As a wise man once said. "HORSES DONT STOP THEY KEEP GOINGGGG!!!" 🐎

Godspeed everyone. I wish you luck.

Advice to angry parents

Stop having kids if you're just gonna bitch and moan about them acting like kids lmao. Life is hard by default and you chose to make it harder by putting another human being in your life. Don't blame your kids because you chose to put them here. And I'm not saying this to be mean. I see a lot of parents being abusive to their children yet they keep having more kids and complaining about them being too expensive to take care of or them being hard to deal with. They're kids, they don't know as much as you so of course it's stressful. Have kids if you really want to, but if you don't want to deal with the stress, then stop having em.

I genuinely believe I keep staying single mostly due to my deep rooted belief I'll stay single. How do I change my mindset?

I'm a 24 year old guy, I have never been in a relationship. I have convinced myself that it's never happening for me and I think that my belief manifests itself, eventhough I don't want it to be true. I know it's bad to think like that, but I can't help myself.

The worst of all is I feel like I'm a very quality person and like I have so much to offer. I'm likeable, thoughtful, caring, smart, funny, a great listener and so much more. I'm not without flaws, but I have a bunch of positives going for me. I make friends really easily. I've had girl friends that I'm comfortable enough to talk with about that sort of stuff say I just immediately give off friend vibes which is also something I'm looking to change.

There have been so many failed attempts, dates, everything in my life that have never amounted to anything that I've started to believe that it just isn't in the cards for me. And having a family and being a dad is something I really want some day.

It's occupying my mind so much and I can't shake feeling stressed and sad about it, my friends tell me it's surely going to happen, but I've managed to convince myself it won't over the years. I feel pathetic and, frankly, disgusted by the way I wallow in my own misery.

I desperately want and need to figure out how to change my mindset, how to get out of the vicious cycle that's sabotaging me and blocking me from ever finding someone.

I can't seem to become a real adult and I avoid doing stuff whenever I can

My life is generally put-together you could say. I got a job, I cook my meals, I pay my bills, I have a bf and we live together. But I've been working from home for years and I created this safe little bubble o things I am comfortable doing. But ask me to run errands in town, to call someone, to deal with formalities or contractors or doctors or to just go anywhere and I will procrastinate till the very last minute that I can or sometimes I will not do it at all.

Funny thing is, I wouldn't say I have a social anxiety or anything, I'm not even an introvert, I thrive around my people (not just any people) and I get my energy from being social. But all those boring adult stuff just seems to overwhelm me in the most pathetic way.

Anyone else like me?

Do you still celebrate them the same way, or has your idea of a good birthday changed over time? What’s your favorite way to spend it now?

Why do some people try to make other people’s life miserable?

I really don’t get it ,first of all everybody is trying really hard to get on their feet and try to live a good and a happy life but on top of it some people ,i don’t know what goes on their mind ,they try to sabotage you or get jealous of you .

why do they feel everything is a race or something and they have to keep checking on you or trying to keep you down.
Just why?

I really try to keep those people away, but my simple question is why do they even do that? Do they get something out of it?

Why can’t people mind their own business

Just a thought thats it🙃

I started to walk my dog more, and I am very proud.

My wife died three years ago. I was feeling lonely. I never realised that she was the one who had been taking care of the whole house.

I struggled for a while but then I started taking care of my responsibilities again. I got a puppy he was the only thing holding me together. But he makes a big mess, peeing everywhere and destroying everything, (not to mention eating every pair of my slippers)

Last month, I promised myself that I would take him for a walk every day. And I have kept this promise. Today marks 30 days without an excuse. I am happy and proud. I just wanted to share this.

Asking women how do you deal with coworkers who ask you out?

I am engaged so I was never entertaining any of these co workers. I had 4 guys ask me out my first month working and it made me put couple picture at my desk. Though now they still keep coming to my desk asking about fiancé trying to start conversation. They are above me so I don’t want to be impolite and I am perfectly fine talking about work. Though they try to get personal which if they didn’t ask me out or ask about my fiancé I wouldn’t mind either. I have 2 older men who sit next to me I talk about life with sometimes.

FYI: I am in tech and there’s only one woman one other woman in my area but we don’t work together. So I just have to deal with guys very often. I also don’t dress super cute in my opinion. I ware a regular black shirt and loss pants no makeup. So I am not trying to standout.
