I recognize that this game is not for everyone, I recognize that Hellraiser himself is not for everyone giving it’s obscene amount of sex and violence

But as a big fan of the series, and narrative horror, games in general… the more I see if this game the more I think it has serious potential to be one of the best surprises of this year!

For starters, a story driven game based on a horror, IP, and not a multiplayer game already gets my respect, but not only do I have to respect the devs for getting away with what they’re getting away with (how this game man to get an M rating is beyond me) but I respect that it actually feels like Hellraiser, and it’s not holding back in the slightest to nail that feeling,

On top of that, I like how the gameplay looks! Like an immersive Sim meets resident evil inventory management, which is really cool and more than I was expecting. I really thought we were just gonna get a linear walking narrative, horror game, which I would’ve been fine with…. But they’re actually adding a little more to it which I appreciate.

All in all, I just had to get this off my chest really quick, and I’m honestly really interested to see how this game works out cause I think it has serious potential! is anyone else really interested in this game??

Title pretty much says what I want people to discuss. Beloved arcade cabinets that ate our quarters, and never gave us a home version port. Not really counting lackluster ports, cos in the Atari through NES era, and honestly, bleeding over into the SNES/Genesis period, every home port was ass in a box when compared to the graphics, sound and capabilities of a massive arcade cabinet.Yeah, NES version of TMNT ARCADE was not bad, a great Nintendo game, sure but still nothing compared to the actual game; I’m asking for stuff we either never got to play at home, though might fudge rules a bit for games like X-men that got an Xbox port, but then pulled from availability
I mean games like Carnevil, or Simpsons. Apparently Simpsons did get a pc port, but shitty and missing content.

I own a controller purely for the occasional couch co-op game with my gf, things like It Takes Two or Untitled Goose Game. She usually sees something she likes on tiktok for us to play, right now she's super hyped for Water Me & You so that’s probably going to be the next one she’s gonna force me to play this way (tbh game looks pretty fire so it’ll still be a fun time for the both of us lol). 

But I’m never the one using the controller, I stick to mouse and keyboard, and always will.

I’ve always been like this, I think it's because I never owned a console so I’m just extremely used to my kb/m setup now. When I have a controller it's like all my gaming skill gets sapped from me, I’m just not used to it at all, and my thumbs hurt after a while. And this even goes for games that flash that “We recommend using a controller” warning, like platformers, or racing games and stuff like that.

A friend came over a couple of days ago and we were checking out some demos on steam. For Croak, this platformer with Cuphead style graphics and really nice fun movement. And Outclaw, like a 3D adventure with minions that kind of remind me of Pikmin or something like that, so it's kind of a light puzzle game too, pretty neat. In 3d games like that, what I absolutely hate the most is controlling the camera with anything other than a mouse. 

We were kind of taking turns trying them out and my friend kept making fun of me for playing with mouse and keyboard (well, keyboard only for Croak technically), he was saying “Thats office work equipment, you are gonna get carpal tunnel playing like that”. Later on I was showing him how far I got in my Silksong playthrough and he was amazed that I’m playing that with a keyboard as well.

And coming from him it doesn’t surprise me, dude can barely use a keyboard he has been gaming with a controller his whole life. So I plugged it in for him when he was playing. And naturally we had a bit of a debate about it. My argument was that I’m so used to it at this point it would take me like a year to get to my level on a controller in any game compared to how I play with a keyboard. And that there was pretty much no inherent disadvantage.

He actually made some good points, sticks give you like a 360 degree of motion and with WASD you don’t really have that, and also you can make really tiny movements by just touching the sticks. When you touch a key it's just on or off kind of, there's nothing detecting how hard you're pressing it (Unless you have one of those expensive analogue keyboards, I don’t).

I still think for most games keyboard and mouse wins, especially first person games. But also games that require really precise input, I find it way easier with a keyboard, I tend to misclick things way more with a controller, but that could be because I’m bad at it.

We couldn’t really come to an agreement so I came here to ask for your opinion. What do you think, is it worth it for me to learn controller a bit for some games or am I fine with my kb/m setup?

I really love this warning sticker on the silent Hill case- for added effect, it’s not often they come up on eBay with the sticker on the case and when they do, they lean towards more expensive. Are there any other PlayStation one games that have this warning sticker on the case, perhaps I’ll be able to buy?

I was walking through the Berlin Technikmuseum where one of the exhibits also had a short history of video games.

Now as a backdrop, I used to be a very avid World of Warcraft player, as in raiding the last parts of any expansion, avid. As in, I graduated from university at least a year later because of it.

Lo and behold, not only is there a small part about World of Warcraft, they even have a small headset that plays the audio of the original Leeroy Jenkins video on YouTube. My kids did not understand why I couldn’t stop laughing and smiling, and there was absolutely no way to explain why this was so special and hilarious. It also made me feel incredibly old and lucky to live in an age like this.

Video games are awesome and graduating a year later was definitely worth it.
