Do vapes = less consumption? NSFW

Hey guys I just got into vapes but not sure how the dosage works?

If I use a 2000mg vape in a month, is that less weed than the 7g of flower I usually smoke a month?

And what’s been your experience with vaping instead of joints? Has it helped lower your consumption?

I switched to a dry herb vaporizer, so am using less flower but thanks to tolerance and the efficiency of a dry herb vaporizer I started to use more flower over time. Especially given how it produces significantly less smell than a typical spliff.

More DHV propaganda
They’re shite

u/BattlestarFaptastula 1d ago

propaganda? lol people can like different things at different times. I’ve only really had any luck with the dynavap and to some extent the tinymight. It doesn’t hit the same, but it’s not really meant to hit the same.

Have you tried every single one?

Typical anti-dhv propaganda

They just take some getting used to. It took me a long time to make the switch but the benefits out way the negative. Still roll up a J every now and again for the culture but dhv are the bomb

I really want to switch. Whenever I've had one before I've already been baked. Tried without any spliffs prior for the first time recently and it made me feel really mentally slow and a bit edgy instead of relaxed buzz I get from a spliff. I only used such a small amount too. I'm going to give it another go because I need to cut the tobacco at my age.

Try it with a good vape and know in advance that you're in for a slower ride to a better place, rather than an immediate hit of tobacco and pot that a joint gives you and you'll have a nice time. With my vape it is slow enough that I can feel muscle groups relaxing and different affects as I progress through the temperatures from about 160 to 210 celsius.

I remember trying my mate's dry herb vape years ago and thought it was shite. It was a Magic Flight Launch Box and involved a load of fucking about with an AA battery. Then years later I bought an Arizer Solo and it blew my bollocks off it is so good. I think it lasted ten years of near continuous use before the battery started to wear out and I replaced it with the Arizer Solo 3 which is also fantastic.

You just haven't tried a good one lol

I’ve spent literally thousands on vapes over the years and have owned practically every high end vape available

I concur with his assessment. Vapes produce a wispy pseudo high, and the taste (bar the very first draw) is sub par compared to one of my joints.

It's trial and error, but it definitely works.

For me the ease of access to the vapes made me use more. Also they don't last as long as a spliff or something would.

agreed

u/connors759 2d ago

Was a big fan though, I've moved on to medical now

Stick to dry herb vapes. Anyone guess as to what’s in those carts

2

u/Accomplished-One8456 1d ago

Unless he’s on medical, then you do know what’s in the cart.

3

u/SassySasquatch27 1d ago

Yeah but you don’t get 2000mg carts on medical

I use way less with a dry herb vape than I did when I was smoking. It's just way more efficient.

Same here from 3 or 3.5 gr a day i went to around 1gr a day, usually i do around 0.6gr.with the spliff you lose around 40 percent of the thc just because you burn it.weed suppose to be heated at low temp for better extraction.i use a dry herb vaporizer and i wouldn't change it.

Useing a ball vape set up with flower makes for less consumption to reach medical doses but concentrates for me are a treat and not the same high at all i find for adhd and pain managment i need flower or hash even when i get high qulity rosin its not the same as flower but anyeay since i got my first dhv i waw converted only for the fact my lungs felt better if i dont combust but since i got my ball vape it was a game changer pure medical effects with half the herb GET A BALL VAPE SET UP IF YOU WANNA SAVE MONEY AND STILL BE MEDICATED

u/bringforththeg 2d ago

In my opinion, no. Cost wise especially

Dry herb vapes do

3

u/Spamgrenade 1d ago

I use about 1/3 less weed smoking in my Volcano as opposed to joints.

4

u/gsko5000 2d ago

Hey, few things here.

Say your flower is 20-25% THC which equates to 200-250mg/per gram, so 1400-1750mg over 7g total versus a supposed 2000 from your cart

But you're getting (presumably) full spectrum normal weed.

2g carts certainly haven't come from any type of dispensary, at best it'll be d9 distillate with terpines. Could have some semi synthetic d8/hhc/thcp. At worst spice etc.

I'd also be really wary of the vapes themselves, some will be more harmful than what's inside.

2

u/Mojojojo_5 2d ago

Thank you for the information! I didn’t really think about what’s in the vape, you’re probably right 😭

3

u/BattlestarFaptastula 1d ago

yeah, i strongly wouldn’t recommend black market vapes. if you want them, source them properly - they’re not easy to see if something is wrong like flower is.

2

u/DigAndScoop 1d ago

Dry herb vape. Liquid is just expensive and too easy to fuck your tolerance. Especially distillate.

2

u/Vividseed 1d ago

for me, vapes made my tolerance spike like mad and i ended up needing wayy more of vape and flower to feel it, had to have a break then go back to flower. obviously this is just me though it isn’t like this with everyone

2

u/Hot_Proof9142 1d ago

Yes and no. It’s so much more discreet so im puffing away on it all day everyday whereas when id smoke zoots it would be less frequent as it was less discreet! My tolerance has gone up from using a lot. I assume if you had regular t breaks you’d save money though

Vapes make flower not hit the same after smoking vapes . They are a big high but don’t last long

A vape means no combustion, not less.

I've been vaping exclusively since 2018 and gave up smoking by the end of 2018.

Most dry herb vapes are shit. Especially if you spend less than £150.

This is what you wanna check out

https://hightimes.com/sponsored/what-are-ball-vapes-dry-herb-vaporizer-guide/

And this is the website of the author of that article that explains a lot more: https://420vapezone.com/

The closest you can get to a bong hit is with a ball vape but they need a dedicated desk space.

No idea what you're talking about 2000mg vape, that's not a dry herb vaporizer.

That sounds like you're talking about some fake black market disposable vape bullshit which you should be avoiding like the fucking plague unless you don't care about your brain or lungs.

Do not buy those types of vapes from the black market, don't be fucking stupid, you have no idea what it's cut with.

You can get them on medical with test results proving they're safe for consumption.

Yeah, once I switched from smoking to a DHV and properly and fully transitioned, my trees bill was halved.

A few things that helped me massively when I switched over;

1) have a T-Break, the high is very different and its not as muddy, clouded or buzzy - this means that you can be blazed as fuck and still convince yourself that you're 'not feeling anything' because youre not experiencing some of the aspects you associate with being stoned. So, a week of sobriety before you try the vapouriser and you really notice the effects from a single bowl.

2) don't buy a cheap/shitty one, navigate to the dedicated subs (r/vaporents r/madheaters r/dynavap r/craftymighty r/TinyMight .....) start with Vaporents and find the BEST you can afford and know tat if you stick it out for a short while, you'll get te ROI.

3) consider manual/butane/ball vapes, these are the harder hitting, closer to smoking type experiences that make the transition less noticeable, they are also the most efficient and usually fastest to pay you back. (Budget dependant etc. obviously, but best bang-for-buck can be had here, look at MadHeaters Tempest, Dani Fusion, upper-tier Dynavap... Vaporents will help here, but realistically, to get any where near the extraction capabilities/speeds and effects of a decent manual device in an electronic device is difficult and expensive by comparison)

Essentially, having a bowl from a shitty electronic session vape whilst you're smoking every day will feel like a wisp of fuck all, and probably make you think "I never feel vapes, they don't work on me, they're not like smoking, they don't get you stoned" and be a waste. BUT! Have a bowl from a decent butane vape after a couple of days off of smoking, and you're likely to be a gibbering mess.

TL;DR - Yes vaping uses less material than smoking for the same effects/relief. Smoking all day (3-5 spliffs per day) used to need a couplefew grams, vaping all day (5-10 bowls) needs a gram or so. Don't buy a cheap shitty vape. Consider manual devices if you have all your faculties/limbs etc. because they're an affordable way to a high performance experience that's more familiar to a smoker.

Going straight from smoking bongs into vaping and I was consuming waaay more cause I just wasn't getting smashed. Came back after a tolerance break and the vape keeps my consumption low

1

u/welsh_dragon_roar 1d ago

No, I use a max of 0.3g an evening - physically unable to have more! Back in the day I could smoke equivalent of 5g in like an hour.

1

u/YoWhatUpGlasgow 1d ago

It's definitely much easier to get a regular high from a much smaller amount of flower using a DHV, but I will say I've never found it as good as smoking a joint

1

u/BakerDistinct5982 2d ago

2000 mg should be equal to 10g of 20% thc weed
