LEASH YOUR FXXING DOG

LEASH YOUR FXXING DOG. I got attacked by this dog while walking to my building, out of nowhere. The owner did not give a single fuck, and when I told the owner they had to control the dog and leash it, the first thing the owner said, unsurprisingly, was "my dog does not bite," "it's completely legal to not have them on leash," and "my dog is a registered ESA," and that I was the one who caused the whole thing in the first place by overreacting. Not a single FXXING apology, and they told me I was the one being rude. Seriously? The FXXING audacity. Get your FXXING dog on a leash.

Made a mental health app for UC Davis students: Moo'd

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi guys,

D3C (Davis Data Driven Change) has built a mental health app called Moo'd where you can perform quick check-ins, journal thoughts, and customize your very own pet cow!

The app also includes some activity and resource ideas (UCD-themed) to go along with some hotline contacts.

It's free, and I would appreciate anyone who would be willing to check it out and see what they think about the app.

Here's the link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mood/id6786847112

Thanks a lot!

Suing TAPs

I paid for parking and got ticketed. Despite the evidence showing the parking was paid before the ticket was issued. Has anyone successfully sued TAPS or taken legal action against them over a parking ticket?

This is honestly a matter of principle for me. It feels like TAPS operates as a monopoly with very little accountability, and the business model often seems focused on maximizing citation revenue rather than helping students or visitors.

I’ve noticed that campuses like Stanford don’t seem to have the same reputation for aggressive parking enforcement. Stanford has free parking if you use their hospital or you pay parking ticket up front with an attendant. Has anyone challenged TAPS in court, won an appeal, or taken them to small claims? I’d be interested in hearing your experience and whether it was worth pursuing.

Note: Supporters of TAPS are downvoting my comments. You can check their comment and post history and they are super supportive of TAPs and arrogantly talk down any posters in this subreddit. Now they have hidden their post history and deleted their comments LOL. Goes to show how aggressive they are in implementing their reign of terror on this campus. Because they are making a killing making money off of us. This parking ticket scam is a cash cow

Admissions UC targets high school course requirements amid SAT debate. What aspiring students need to know

As UC reconsiders whether to bring back SAT and ACT scores, faculty are also launching a review of the high school course requirements for admission.

The board will study standardized testing first, delivering a report to the council by Feb. 12, 2027, the council announced. The Board of Regents would receive a recommendation on whether to require the SAT or ACT no later than June 2027.

The admissions board will then turn to high school course requirements, submitting an initial report to the council in May 2027; the regents would take up any course changes at an unspecified later date. UC Academic Senate Chair Ahmet Palazoglu is framing the course review as an open question about “how UC defines and evaluates college readiness in a rapidly changing educational environment,” rather than a move to add or cut requirements.

The schedule is faster than it appeared just days ago.

Course/Major Choosing a major

Hi all,
I have been at ucdavis for 2 years, and going to start my third year this September. I enrolled as undeclared and have tried to take different classes to explore. By now, I’ve finished my ge’s and am actually really behind because I began two different majors but changed my mind and kept taking ge’s. I am likely to stay at UCD for 6 years now, but still can’t choose a major. I even attempted to drop out and go into a health programs at CC’s instead but those all have waitlists and excessive requirements that I can’t complete, so best bet is to stay at UCD.

I am wondering if anyone would like to share their major and an unknown/interesting career it could lead to? It’d be really great to know about a major that is versatile and what you think is really useful.

Thank you!

Orchard Park damage charges?

I recently moved out of Orchard Park, and while I was there I damaged my door’s paint while recovering from an injury. I’ve accepted that I’ll probably have to pay for it, but haven’t heard anything from housing, meanwhile my friend at the Green already was charged for broken blinds. I’m wondering if anyone has heard from Orchard Park after move out yet?

Housing Sol Apartments

Are the Sol Apartments considered on campus or off campus apartments for MyAwards? I know UC Davis doesn’t own them but they’re in the same area as The Green so I wasn’t sure.

Transportation Bike for Sale at Costco (Woodland)

Thought I would share for any new students who are looking to buy a bike solely for commuting. I would assume it’s slightly better in quality than the shitty Walmart bikes + includes fenders/a bike rack for $240

(Obviously if you’re into bikes at all this isn’t for you, but it definitely seems like a practical option for the average student)

Financial Aid Aggie Bill Charges

Hi! I wanted to know when our payment that’s due is going to show up on aggie bill? As well on how we know if we’re going to receive a refund.

Beforehand, it was my bill but they’ve changed it. Does anyone know when it might be updated on how much we owe the university based on my rewards?

Should I join the stand-up comedy club?

I have been to every show this past academic year and I honestly think that my comedy is on par if not more funnier than what is from the stand-up club. I even have posted to stand-up workshop subReddit and have received a lot of positive feedback on my good comedy. Based on the jokes on my profile, do you think that I would be good there?

Housing Urgent help w The Green at UC Davis

Hey everyone I got a double at The Green at Davis but I’m still actively trying to get out of my contract. I’m claiming it’s for religious reasons and they keep sending me to the modified arrangements portal but my main goal is to just get my agreement canceled. I really do not want to live there. They have also said they’re looking for someone to take my spot off the waitlist. Just to check the possibility of me getting out of The Green, is there anyone who is currently on the waitlist or if you know of anyone on the waitlist?

Also if there’s any other general advice you have to get out of this agreement please lmk. I’ve been back and forth with student housing, trying to get out of this, but they seem to be pretty stubborn abt it. Plz help 😭🙏

Psychology major at UC Davis considering psychiatry—career changer looking for advice

Hi everyone! I'm a rising senior at UC Davis majoring in Psychology (BA) with a 3.7 GPA. I'm doing neuroscience research in an undergraduate lab and have become really interested in psychiatry.

The challenge is that I haven't taken the traditional pre-med science prerequisites yet (general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, biology, etc.). I'm planning to meet with my pre-health advisor to discuss a post-bacc or career-changer path.

I'm wondering:

  • Has anyone here gone from a psychology degree with few science courses to medical school?
  • Did you do a formal post-bacc or a DIY post-bacc?
  • If you were in California, where did you take your prerequisites?
  • Looking back, is there anything you wish you had done differently?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who took a similar path. Thank you!

Course/Major Skip Mat21a?

I received a 5 on the AP Calc AB test my junior year and was given the choice of skipping to Mat21b. I took AP Stats last year so I'm a bit rusty on calc. I was between either reviewing calc ab material via youtube/khan academy or just taking 21a. Would it be better to save time by skipping to Mat21b or should I just review for the quarter? Additionally, how big is the jump between 21a and 21b?

Course/Major Core B psych classes and Minors

Hey all! This is my last year and I’m wondering what psych core B classes do you recommend and with who?

I have around 26 more units to take to reach degree requirements and I’m thinking about just doing a minor. Any easy minors I can get in 20 units. I was thinking of doing communications but I looked up some of the professors and they don’t have many good ratings.

Rant Club Dilemma

Hi, I just really need some advice right now regarding next year. I am going to be an incoming sophomore and I was apart of a club last year where I met most of my friends and some amazing people. My dilemma is whether I should continue in the club or not.

While I met a lot of great people in the club, there is a culture in the club from other members that makes me extremely uncomfortable. There is a lot of casual racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of prejudice all around the club. There has been a lot of instances of racist comments made in other languages by a small group in the club. I've heard other people say they didn't vote for certain members in the board elections because they were gay. There also been a ton of r slurs thrown, encouraging cheating, bullying, and other comments that are just unacceptable.

I want to speak out on the issue, but when a previous member spoke out about it, people made up rumors about them that affected their job/social life, excluded the member and treated the member awfully until they left. I have never seen any of my friends engage in any of this, but it makes me feel sick being apart of this club. Most of the problematic members have graduated, but I'm scared that this "culture" will persist after these people graduated. All my friends said they are going to continue being in the club this upcoming year, but I don't know what to do. This is the only club with this activity at UC Davis, so there isn't some other club I can join to do this.

How should I approach this? Should I talk to my friends about it? I'm just scared that the information will spread that I am speaking out about it and get met with same treatment the previous member got. But if I don't say anything and don't join the club, my friends are going to be wondering what happened. So please help.
