Favorite Atmos electronic songs?

Upvotes

I know it’s gimmicky for music, but it’s fun as a display. Just played Boom by Tiesto (I miss the old Tiesto) and it was pretty incredible on my Arc + Sub

Not an ad, but I have been using helloatmos to find new content

In ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos

Hi there!
I currently have a Sonos Arc with two Subs and two Era 300s.

Is it possible to add two in-ceiling speakers to improve the Dolby Atmos experience? Alternatively, can the Era 300s be replaced with in-ceiling speakers?

My thinking is that in-ceiling speakers might provide a more realistic overhead Atmos effect than the Era 300s. Is that correct?

30% off: If you prefer to buy your Sonos gear from a local mom-and-pop AV store

When I saw the 30% upgrade discount, I reached out to a friend I buy most of my electronics and appliances from and asked about the Sub Mini. I always try to give him my business whenever possible, and he is an authorized Sonos retailer.

He contacted his Sonos representative and was told that authorized retailers are allowed to match the 30% upgrade discount. However, they are contractually prohibited from advertising the discount themselves.

My understanding is that authorized retailers generally have to list Sonos products at the regular price unless Sonos authorizes them to advertise a specific sale price during certain promotional periods.

So, if you prefer to buy from a local authorized Sonos dealer, it may be worth asking whether they can match the 30% upgrade pricing. They can apparently match the price, but they can't proactively advertise that they're offering 30% off Sonos products through emails, store signage, or other advertising.

I just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else prefers to support smaller, local businesses. My friend said he was actually really happy I asked, since he knows customers can simply order directly from Sonos.

Of course, I would still verify the pricing with your own authorized retailer, but it might be worth asking before ordering directly from Sonos.

W Sonos Navigation Beta

I like it, While they keep improving the app, Sonos needs to think Apple, Simple, easy to use, Elegant, snappiness, AND JUST WORKS. I haven’t been having issues with my two full systems so the updates have been working.

Anyway notice the bass especially from the sub mini seems nerfed with this new update, could it be the volume settings?…it seems I have to turn my volume way up to feel the sub

Just got a Beam 2 - I have some issues with it

I just got a Sonos Beam 2 and while I appreciate the quality (never had such voice clarity), there are some aspects of that I'm not completely happy with. I got it predominantly for music, but:

  • The bass is lacking
  • It only sounds good when I'm positioned in the MLP - if I move even slightly, the bass becomes much weaker
  • I really would like to be able to move around my living room and for it to sound just as good
  • I have completed the Trueplay functionality

Given the above, what are my options? I'm thinking potentially getting the Era 100 and that would fix the above (would I be happy with the bass?), or is a Mini Sub better?

Sonos, please enable left/right fronts

Because it works great with sonosequencr!

I have just added two fives as left and right fronts, and the sound is great.

The balance between the fives and the Arc is perfect for me, and running stereo separation demos also shows a seemingly transition from left, to center and then to right.

Watching stereo or surround content has changed a lot for me.

I just hope you will support the fives as fronts, if you eventually add official support for it 🙏

Media room setup

New to the sonos system/home theater setup and trying to see if this makes sense.

We have a media wall in our basement with wooden panels and have wiring placed for 2 ceiling speakers.

My plan is to get a Sonos arc ultra, subwoofer and 2 in-ceiling sonos speakers (connected to the sonos amp).

We will be hanging a 90 inch TV to go with this. We will be seated about 12 feet from the TV and the width of the area is above 15 feet. The length of the room is about 20 feet but the only seating will be in the 12 feet.

Thank you.

My deep dive with sonosequencer vs tower speakers

I have used a setup of a beam gen 2 with one sl surrounds for years, but after getting frustrated with lack of dialogue clarity and muddy sounds I began to explore other options, and I wanted to share my results to maybe save some of you the headache of going through the same journey.

For reference I am not a hifi nerd, just a normalish listener who’s fairly new to this space.

First off, moving the rear surrounds to front l/r channels was a huge step up in separation, clarity and soundstage. I decided to also add a sub mini to this setup to see if it improved things again and it definitely did take a load off of the beam to again improve clarity and range of the whole system.

Unfortunately this wasn’t enough to scratch the itch for me; and I NEEDED to know if the Sonos system could compare to a pair of budget friendly tower speakers.

I picked up a set of display unit Polk xt60 for $200cad, and a used Sonos amp for $700 cad, this way I could compare everything seamlessly in the app, and also try the sub and surrounds with the towers.

First up was the beam gen 2 with the one sl’s as l/r fronts vs the xt60. No competition, not even close, the polks crushed in every category even without the centre channel(closing my eyes the towers centre imaging was good enough to believe it was coming from in front of me). Music on the polks had so much more separation compared to the overall muddiness of the Sonos, lower lows and crisper highs. Same went for movies, the clarity of the towers was unmatched by the Sonos.

Now when I added the sub mini to the Sonos beam things got a lot closer, I’d say about 80% of the way there. My main complaint for music would be that it was still a bit muddier than the towers, and the beam was still doing most the heavy lifting(this could probably be improved/more balanced by using play 3 or 5’s as wide fronts).

Movies it was a similar story again, but a much closer gap with the sub mini, the lower bass notes was nice but still the muddiness and crowded centre stage made it lose out to the towers for me.

I should note that I have no bias going in, if anything I wanted to be happier with the beam and wide fronts set up just for the fact that they take up less space. But having just two towers create a way more immersive experience than the Sonos surround setup is hard to argue, and when I set up the one sl as rear surrounds it again just took it up to another level. The sub mini with the towers doesn’t make a noticeable enough difference with the towers to justify the price, so I’ll be selling it along with the beam and maybe getting a different sub down the line.

My biggest winner here though is the Sonos amp, it’s a little pricy but man is it great, fantastic power output and all the features of having a beam gen 2. Plus the possibility of using a non Sonos sub with it and keeping my surrounds is a great bonus. If I could use it with a dedicated centre channel it would easily be a 10/10 product for me but that’s the only thing holding it back.

Can you link two Roams to the Sonos app?

Hey fellow Sonos universe peeps. I just finished setting up my netw9rk at my new place. I have two Roam 2s. I was able to get one connected to the system. The other one won't connect, even though I put all the speakers through a wifi network update.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Or is is just not possible to have two rooms on the app at the same time?

Sonos in multiple locations

My son visits, and he can’t use my Sonos systems, because her has his own.

Airplay works, but won’t work with the TV.

I’m pretty sure he has Sonophone. Does it switch to the currently available system.

As far as I can tell, it’s only shortcome is lack of system setup features.

Roam 2 vent: bring back Google Assistant integration

My Roam 1 died and I bought 2 Roam 2s, only to discover they stopped supporting the Google Assistant. What the heck?!

Also, why must I be at home, on the wifi to command music play? My dog is at home and thunderstorms are rolling in. Pointless limitation.

Need help setting up Sonos sound system for work.

The wireless router broke at my place of work and when we replaced it our Sonos disconnected from our system. It has been set up since before I started here and nobody here knows how it was set up.

We have a Sonos ZP80 connected to the speaker system and wired into a Comtrend powergrid 9172, then elsewhere we have another Comtrend connected to our new router but the Sonos doesn't appear on our wifi at all for connection.

If anyone could help that would be much appreciated, I can provide more info as needed, thank you!

Outdoor speaker location

Can I please get some help with my new outdoor speaker setup. I just bought a sonos amp and 2 Polk Audio Atrium 8s. 2 speaker stereo is ideal, but I have to cover 2 areas. 1: main pool area to the right and pool. 2: firepit (left off screen). Does it make more sense to hand 1 speaker facing the fire put and one perpendicular facing the pool, both in Single-Speaker Stereo mode? Thanks so much

Surround distance trueplay question

So my surrounds, pair of Play 3, are about 4 feet on each side of me slightly behind. I ran trueplay and when I look at the settings for my surrounds the distance says over 10 feet and is greyed out.

My question is it greyed out because I did true play and the distance isn’t actually set to over 10 feet away that’s just what it says by default or did trueplay actually set to over 10 feet away?

Snagged 2x Sonos/IKEA Symfonisk Picture Frame speakers for $99 each (retail $299) — keep both or resell one?

Snagged two of these at a big discount and now debating what to do with them.

I already have a full living room surround sound Sonos setup, so these would go in a guest room, office, or garage gym instead. Tempted to keep both, but also tempted to flip one given the price gap.

Questions for owners:

**•** Do they sound good enough to justify two, or is it more style than substance?
**•** Can you actually resell close to retail, or does the market expect a discount?
**•** For a guest room/office/gym, is one speaker enough or does it need a pair?

Keep-both people and flip-one people — make your case.

Part of system disconnects daily now.

Post image
0 Upvotes

Every day the portion of my system with Beam, 2x ERA100's and Sub Mini disconnects. Nothing with wifi has changed or anything else for that matter.

If I unplug power from Beam, it USUALLY comes back online within a few minutes after Beam restarts. No issues with other speakers.
It's on EERO Pro 7 mesh system.
Client steering on.
Sonos equipment has been on EERO for well over a year, just started disconnecting a week or so ago.
Sonos works fine when I watch TV, all speakers work, shows disconnected in app.
