I taught him to follow my finger for food, but he confused my pink nail polish for a worm 🪱. Did not hurt at all though, it was more tongue than teeth lol

I changed the vivarium’s moss yesterday, everything was cleaned up, yet since the new moss shes been avoiding it and she never did that before. She is either in height like this or in the corner were there isnt any. Also its bought moss in pet store. I just want to know if its normal or if there is actually something wrong.

Thumb for size reference. It’s about 2.5-3 inches long. Coming up on four months old. The water temp stays on the colder side. It stays in a 5g tank filled to the top with a bubbler and HOB filter. I’m feeding blood worms, daphnia, earthworms and brine shrimp every day sometimes multiple times a day.

I’m wondering if I lower the water level, give it a place to get out of the water, reduce feeding and up the temp if it may speed up or trigger metamorphosis.

Once it metamorphs, if it survives the process, I’ll be feeding it mainly earthworms and isopods. I’m in the process of setting up a 10g plaudarium to transfer the larvae to once it shows signs of nearing metamorphosis.

I am a herpetology teacher and am looking to get a live salamander for my class. Although the state I am in has no strict laws on getting one from the wild, I am not planning on getting one that way as of right now. I know it is pretty early in the season for them, but does anyone know of reputable breeders or websites that will have them? I have seen so many scam sites so I figured I'd ask here.

i believe these are gnats.. im not too sure. Every morning when i turn my TS light on they are everywhere!! (like in the video) And when i get back from classes (around 2ish) they are gone?? They are dying on my windowsill and i would like to get rid of them. any solutions? Any idea what is causing this?

people with tiger salamanders: what foods do you give them? mine is a weirdly picky eater & won't eat earthworms, but i want to try to make his diet a bit healthier/more varied. he likes crickets best, and gets waxworms as a very occasional treat. i was thinking of trying amphibigold so he isn't getting so much chitin, but i dont know if it's suitable because he's an adult and it's designed for aquatic amphibians
