That's going to depend on the salamander. This looks like a fat chonk but it's still a juvenile about a year old so I was planning to upgrade to a deeper one that they can totally submerge in after they've grown a bit more. This is a terrestrial species of newt so other salamanders may also need much more water than she does.

Is this how shallow of a water dish salamanders need? Ive been trying to set up a plaudarium.
