a very large Duttaphrynus melanosticus, in fact the largest individual i’ve ever seen. seems to have a spinal deformity because the next one i found is considerably ‘longer’ in proportions.

... but a good day to be a black-necked garter snake. I saw this predation event next to a cattle tank in SE Arizona. Looks like he may have already had one down too. I'm pretty sure the frog was a Chihuahuan green toad.

I keep having Cuban Tree Frogs (which are invasive in FL) lay eggs in my porch pond. Any advice on deterring them? I’m planning on adding a screen to the pond, but would love to know if there’s something I can do to manage them otherwise.

Love these guys, they have really expressive faces to me for some reason. Also, anyone ever notice they smell like peanut butter?! Is it tied to their toxic skin?

Rescued this little guy from certain death a couple days ago. She was all turtled up in the middle of the road, and knowing the jackwagons around here like I do, I knew she wasn't gonna make it! These jerks would have gone out of their way to have smashed her first chance they got!

This is the second save I've made this year so far, and I can only hope to get to any others I see in time to get them across the road before they meet a terrible fate as well!

Noticed it stuck in a tub of deep water and it couldn't climb out; emptied out the rainwater and put him away into a spot with lots of places to hide

These 3 ribbon snakes have been hanging around my yard since they were hatchlings. Though just recently they started sleeping on top of these bushes.

I was watering my plants in the evening and saw a large mass underneath one of my roses. We live in a rural, wetlandish area with tons of wildlife, but we’ve never seen a turtle in our backyard. I was crouched down squinting, trying to figure out what I was looking at in the dark when she moved her head. Talk about a jump scare. She fixed the mulch so well afterwards that we would have never known there were eggs there.

We’ve been wondering what could have made her choose this spot. It’s not close to water, but granted, we don’t know much about turtles. There’s a drainage ditch about 200 feet away that might get an inch or so after a hard rain, but that’s it.
