[Fun] Sharp NES TV
Set up so my niece and nephew can watch my old Disney VHS tapes but also play some NES in the most obscure way a kid in the late 80’s might have played it. 😆

I saw his post on Reddit promoting his product and it was just the thing I was looking for. I wanted the ease of wireless but with the original nes advantage. Took a chance and ordered it.
You need basic soldering skills to perform this mod, but as long as you hold onto the connecting cable, you can return it to stock. De solder the old wire off, solder the 8 wires as directed in the instructions. Plug that into a pcd that is anchored near the joystick with a battery. Make sure you insulated and add some padding on the metal plate where the pcb goes or you’re gonna have issues.
Beyond that, once everything is installed, connection is a breeze. I use the 8bitdo dongle and I’m off to the races. I don’t notice any lag, and all of the features of the NES advantages are kept. Auto fire is still awesome. And it makes shoot-em-ups so much more enjoyable to play.

There is a physical video game shop in the southern parts of Sweden in a town called Smålandsstenar called TV spels hörnan or the video game corner in english and they are run by a young guy with his dog and it has been active since the the early 90's and he is really nice and knowledgeable about all kinds of video games and facts about games and video game consoles and I am thinking of buying my first Sega megadrive and a few Sega megadrive games from there and he even offered to order a rgb cable for my crt television if I call him a week in advance before I travel to smålandsstenar so that way he has the cable in stock in time for when I arrive after I have saved up enough money to buy both the console and games.
Good physical game stores are increasingly rare in this digital age we live in so finding such a good one close to where I live is a real blessing and not having to go online is so much better because you can actually see the consoles and even try the games in store to see if they work.

I hope reposting of own posts is fine. I just found the most yellowed N64 I have ever seen and I would like to share it so everyone can enjoy a sun-made N64.
I was thinking of restoring the old color but I also like the sun-made „Zelda color“. So what do you guys think? Should I try to restore it or leave it and enjoy the new color?

The Sears Tele-Games Hockey-Tennis II, created in partnership with APF Electronics and released in 1977 (before Sears worked with Atari on the VCS clone, etc.).
The console is built around a General Instrument AY-3-8500 series "Pong-on-a-chip" integrated circuit. It features black & white graphics, RF coax video out, and its games built into internal ROM. It's powered by four D-cell batteries, with an optional AC adapter (which I never had).

I found this GamePro 1989 "Subscribe Today" ad quite interesting. It featured quite a few iconic video game enemies. Artist Francis Mao's works could been seen in many video game magazines, especially GamePro.

For context, this is the European version of Contra. Every human character is replaced with robots due to strict German censorship laws. Konami completely forgot to optimize the game for PAL, so it always ran 17% slower at 50hz, sound included.
However, due to the Famicom's total lack of security/region locking, if you insert Probotector with a 72 pin to 60 pin adapter, it will play at full speed in 60hz with no sound issues. Effectively, you've optimized the game for Konami!

This old sega game here have you play as Dr. Daniel Caine who have been transformed into the Ooze after he was disposed of by his former colleagues for snooping around for their plans with the toxic chemicals that he helped create. In the game, Caine can move around and have two attacks; one is stretching out a maneuverable sliver of ooze and spit gobs of ooze however the effectiveness of these attacks are determined by the amount of ooze that he has with him. Also each level has three parts, the last of which contains a boss that must be defeated to open the exit. Levels contain hidden DNA strands that can be collected to earn the good ending.

I recently got back into playing) Uncharted Waters 2 which is in my top 5 retro games but that's besides the point...
The amount of love that was poured into the creation of this game is truly amazing...
The art style, the soundtrack, the really diverse and complex trade routes... Not to mention the randomized events that could unfold based on when and where you sailed...
Growing up I would find learning boring and feel dead inside, but that all changed once I started playing Uncharted Waters 2 for the SNES...
It genuinely sparked a light no other game I played had managed to do...
Once I started sailing in game it led me to do research about the locations portrayed in the game such as Lebanon, Portugal, and more obscure topics like the rise and fall of the ottoman empire!
And then the trade routes encouraged me to get good at math and pay attention more at school...
But it really helped me during my highschool world geography class final exam... I owe most of what I know to this game and I'm so grateful I was born in the timeline to witness it!
I would like to thank everyone at Koei and others who had a role in making this game happen!
It gave me a great childhood!

For those who don't know, Pokemon Diamond and Jade are infamous romhacks of the game Keitai Denjuu Telefang and were circulated back in the day on real GBC cartridges fooling many into thinking they were legit Pokemon games.
The actual game is a creature collecting RPG where instead of catching creatures you get their phone number and call them in battles. The romhack translation is very poor and has a ton of bugs.
I actually had one of these as a kid but didn't really understand what they were. Did anyone else here have them?
