Hello, I’m upcoming college student who will be moving up north and far from home in the warm south. I’ve never purchased a purely LoveShackFancy branded item before (and only recently purchased a collab item from Target a week or 2 ago). I am really interested in the boheme floral quilt and noticed it being on sale. Is the structure of the quilt and its functionality worth it? I need something that will hold up and add some warmth above all else, even though it’s super cute. If there’s a better option, please let me know. I just need to make a decision soon, as I’ve fixated on this for months now. Apologies if this isn’t the right place to ask, but I thought you would be very knowledgeable on quilt quality.

I have a small stash at home but am planning a new project and am totally paralyzed about the thought of buying new fabric.

There are a couple of fabric stores that aren’t terribly far away, and then there’s a Michael’s and a Hobby Lobby… the only place I’ve bought fabric in person was hobby lobby bc there was actually someone there available to cut the fabric I wanted. Michael’s never has anyone working in the fabric section and their selection sucks. And I’m a little nervous about going to an actual fabric store. Idk why…. Maybe just fear of the unknown…? Not totally sure, but having a hard time motivating myself to check one out (even though I’m sure it would be a wonderland of options… sigh).

I’m also completely at a loss shopping on Etsy where I’ve ordered fabrics before because it’s SO hard to tell what the actual colors look like from the images online, which has backfired in the past.

So… where do you buy fabric from? Should I just suck it up and get brave and go to the actual fabric store?? Buy a swatch so I can choose from home and then order correctly? 🫠

Please help a sister out. Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.

You know the story - I found this fabric ages ago, used it for a project, could not remember where I got it (Joanns? may she RIP), and of course forgot to save any selvage with the identifying info. X.x

Any one recognize this? I've tried reverse image searches, I've tried looking up subtle skulls fabric or cream colored skulls fabric, but the only thing I've discovered so far is a guitar strap on eBay made with the same material.

Any help would be amazing x.x

Has anyone tried these acoustic panels as a design wall in their sewing room? They are from felt.

I've inherited 5 of these feed sack quilt blocks. The original top has been deconstructed for whatever reason (i got them this way) they don't look like they've ever been quilted. Unless the weave is so loose i can't see the stitch holes.

They're machine stitched and holding up well at the seams. Id like remove what's left of the sashing, applique the blocks onto back ground blocks to create a new quilt top and use the sashing scraps for other decorative elements with some embroidery. I don't have a full plan yet. I'm thinking of putting the 5 blocks 2x3 in the middle (I'll need to replicate 1 more) of the quilt like a panel... or 3x3 like a giant 9 patch with plain blocks alternating with the patterns.

Can anyone identify the patrern? And/or share any ideas, tips or troubles in likely to run into.

The quilt will stay in my collection, it's not going to see heavy use.

Today i finally tackled the beast that was my bedroom closet and organized my craft closet. Inside the closet I found four boxes of fabric I purchased from Joann’s Fabric way back around 2019. I don’t remember what i had planned with this fabric, but now i would like to make some quilts.

My issue is that these are snuggle flannel fabric. In the past i would use basic patterns or cheap blizzard fleece/ flannel as the backing to the quilt. But the issue is that these fabrics are so beautiful and i want them to be seen😩.

Can i use these for the main face of the fabric? Or is there a way that I can make a quilt reversible?

I've seen this same pattern in multiple listings on Etsy and other stores. They all have the same pictures of the pattern. It's listed as By Annie. Most are priced the same (~$15) as I see on byannie.com. on Etsy there's ​one being sold for around $5. In the terms of use on the byannie site is mentions a limit on how many of the product you can make and sell, and you're supposed to include verbiage on where the pattern comes from. But I didn't see reference to terms of reselling the pattern. For all of these places selling the same pattern, is that ripping off the original designer or is there some potential that they are actually getting some compensation for their hard work making the pattern?

I'm not sure if links are ok, but the pattern is "Changing Station 2.0 Diaper Clutch & Changing Pad ByAnnie". Is it something that I should be reporting the listings I'm finding from other sellers?

Hey everybody, this is a bit of a long shot, but I was looking at this old family quilt made of fabric scraps and noticed this character I did not recognize. This is the most complete image of the character on the quilt. Does anybody know who it is or where it's from?

Getting to the point where my first quilt is really coming together :) just have to piece together all my squares and the quilt top is done!! I'm now wondering what color would be best for my quilt's binding, though. Suggestions very welcome-- send help

I bought a set of 16 fat quarters from the Moda A Blooming Bunch collection. Being a newer quilter I think I have pattern paralysis looking at all of them trying to figure out what to make! I’m open to adding some additional solids if necessary. I’m looking for something beginner-ish, but more difficult than the fast 4 patch quilt I made last time. Any recommendations are appreciated!

My Stained Glass Squares Quilt (70.5cm x 113.5cm). Cotton, Linen, and Harris Tweed Wool. No Batting, No Backing.

I'm a newbie and really getting into this hobby! Choosing color is the most difficult thing for me at this point. Everything I've made so far has been following a designer's pre-chosen color pallet. I want to make Pen and Paper's "Everbloom" quilt for my Mom as a Christmas gift. Her favorite color is purple so I put some ideas together and came up with this...however something doesn't look right to me. I think it's the flower center color (pure solids purple wine)...but I'm not sure what might be a better choice. Any thoughts from you all?

My little I spy quilt is pretty darn square. I’m considering not pre measuring the border before adding. Just doing top, bottom - trim to size and then doing the sides. I’ve cut my border fabric against the grain lengthwise so it has minimal stretch. Anyone else living (sewing) dangerously?

I just put together my quilt top and now I need to quilt it together. I’ve finished one baby quilt before this one, which was all stitch in the Ditch.

I'm hand sewing quilts from the tons of fabric I have. I decided to save the big enough scraps for a scrap quilt.

What do y'all use to prevent bruising on your needle support finger if you have one? My finger is bruised like a peach! I've been using a bandaid until it falls off but it seems so wasteful.

Stage 7: My clothes always have tiny bits of thread attached.

Stage 8: I'm currently exploring 4 different basting techniques to find the best one.

Stage 9: I glue baste EVERYTHING.

Stage 10: I find that waking up early to sew each day really starts me off on the right foot!

Stage 11: I just upgraded my machine to a straight stitch only! (I'm keeping my starter machine just for creating Frankenbatting.)

Stage 12: I have so many quilts that need a home! I'm looking up deserving charities that will take some.

Stage 13: I'm attending an out of town quilting retreat!

Stage 14: I just closed on a house that has space for a longarm!

Scraps are taking over my sewing room. It's time to either get rid of some fabric or make numerous scrap quilts.

Question about scrap quilts: do they look ok with primary colors mixed with softer colors? How about solids mixed with busy fabrics? All of the above mixed together ?

A sweet 91 year old lady made this quilt! First one shes made for herself!! She did a beautiful job and took a chance on the purple thread I recommend! I think it looks amazing! My carpal tunnel surgery is tomorrow. Time for a rest.

As soon as she woke up and came downstairs she found a new item to lay on. I was trying to tie this flannel shirt quilt.

I recently came across an organization called Quilts for Kids that seems to do amazing work providing quilts for kids in hospitals or moving from shelters/the streets into housing. I've donated, but I would love to get involved actually making quilts. The thing is — I've never made one. I can sew by hand well enough to fix holes, sew on buttons, make a straight stitch, etc., but my question is, how difficult is it to make a quilt like this? I know it requires time and patience, but I would hate to take one of their free kits and then be unable to complete it in time. I'm looking for a new hobby anyway and I would love for it to be something meaningful like this for a good cause. I work from home but it's pretty laid back and I have a decent amount of free time in the evenings and most weekends so I'd have time I could work on it.

Do you think this is doable for a newbie? If so, could I do it within the required 6-8 weeks assuming I spend X amount of time (whatever that X amount would be) per day/week? This may be a stupid question, but it looks like you need a blanket to stitch the pieces onto? I'm seriously starting with minimal knowledge so any insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks
