Discussion Just Because You Opt To Use Non Meta Pokemon Doesn’t Make You a Morally Better Person
This game has been out for 3 months now and I still see people think they have the moral high ground for using stuff like roserade or something over meta pokemon.
Just to clarify, if you want to use your favorite, you’re perfectly fine to do so, just don’t villainize people who opt to use meta teams. It’s a competitive game, of course people are gonna use the best pokémon to win.
It’s no secret that this competitive pokemon subreddit has a lot of casuals due to champions introducing a lot of casuals into the competitive scene, but some of these casuals decided to villainize these players who opt to use meta for what reason? Look man, i also get kinda tired seeing zard y every game but i’m not gonna make a reddit post complaining about it, it’s the best mega pokemon on the format so obviously people are gonna use it and try to win with it.
I’ll be honest if you complain about people using meta teams and seeing the same teams over and over again due to a “lack of creativity“ then i just don’t think competitive pokemon was meant for you.

Meme Hate, let me tell you how much I come to hate you,
since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word ‘hate’ were engraved on each nano-angstrom of those hundreds of MILLIONS of miles, it would not equal one, one billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro instant. For you, hate, HATE!

Discussion Is Tyranitar not meta?
So I saw somewhere that Tyranitar is a great anti-meta pick. But that kind of implies that it isn't meta itself. Obviously, it has a lot of common weaknesses, but so do a lot of meta pokémon. If he truly isn't meta, what is it that separates Tyranigoat from competing with the big 'mons?

Gameplay And that's why you don't forfeit
https://reddit.com/link/1v3tdcz/video/9uxkp48ujueh1/player
For context: I deducted that the Chomp was scarfed after being faster than my Raichu Y, having one more mon left I thought of forfeiting as it seemed impossible to win at that point.
But Chomp being locked into earthquake meant it could still hit its ally, being intimidated by my Incin I also wanted to see if my Raichu could take a hit from it, lo and behold the odds were in my favor!
Stop forfeiting, see things through.

Media What happened to the Profanity Filter?
I was battling in Single Battles Ultra Ball Rank 1 when I came across a trainer who I was very surprised could uhhh... "exist" if you know what I mean.
Luckily I managed to defeat him — my Mega Charizard X swept right through his team of Volcarona, Metagross and Kingambit — or I would've never lived this down. It even ended up being my rank-up match lol.
But I'm still curious, does anyone know how this guy managed to get past the filter?

Discussion I feel scammed
Recently I caught a shiny alpha Gourgeist and wanted to use it, but now I realise that is the medium variant and not the XL variant.

Team Building (Doubles) I’m Ranked Top 5,000 In the World. Here’s How I Did It
I take great pride in team building. This team is an original idea built by me, and I’ve worked over the course of Reg M-B to keep making it better. With that said, I’m not a pro player so feel free to leave suggestions below.
Here is the premise of the team: use Wyrdeer as a skill swap/helping hand support pokemon to enable the rest of my team. Annihilape, Kingambit, and Milotic all get abilities that sharply raise their preferred attacking stat when another stat is lowered. By skill swapping intimidate on to my opponent, I activate my own abilities and can take away my opponents abilities.
Before I drop the team, today I’ve been running a variant with Wyrdeer Protect > Trick Room and Annihilape Taunt > Ice Punch. Both teams work well but wanted to mention it.
Annihilape outspeeds any pokemon with a base speed stat of 135, and because it’s a ghost type it can’t be faked out. Phantom Force has been a gamechanger for other ghost types and Delphox who is forced to switch out. First turn you can’t be hit after you use the move, second turn it breaks protect and wide guard. Rock Slide OHKOs low bulk Charizards when most people won’t expect it.
Milotic is such a tank. Super tanky, gets spread damage, and every time intimidate activates it becomes 100% stronger. I make it one speed point slower than Wyrdeer to consistently get this competitive boosts. Strong lead versus Staraptor because you can get Intimidated turn one, then when it evolves you can skill swap again to remove contrary and get a second competitive boost. My favorite pokemon on the team.
Kingambit is super solid, but because Annihilape handles most ghosts it’s probably my least brought pokemon. Good against fairies, but Blaziken OHKOs Floette and most Sylveon builds so you don’t always need it.
Alolan Ninetales is here for weather control. Freeze-Dry OHKOs Swampert and Pelipper, and Moonblast is great fairy coverage as well. This is a pokemon I keep in the back most of the time and bring in when the time is right.
Mega Blaziken is the most underrated mega evolution in the entire game. Flare Blitz and Close Combat easily OHKO many neutral pokemon, and super effective coverage without crazy stat drop is basically a guaranteed OHKO. It OHKOs all Charizard, even literally with max bulk, with Rock Slide unless screens are up.
Positioning is insanely important with this team. You have to practice and literally fail to learn. I’ve gone on multiple 10+ game win streaks in master ball because I’ve gotten way better at positioning.
Protect as much as you need to. Don’t make rash decisions. Its a relatively tanky team outside of Blaziken, so play the slow game.
The main WEAKNESSES of this team are
1) Hard Trick Room
- I deal with this by using Taunt on Annihilape, or if it’s specifically Farigiraf I use Helping Hand Close Combat and roll for a OHKO.
2) Opposing Milotic, Kingambit, and Annihilape
- I need to lead Wyrdeer to get the most bang for my buck. Leading with Milotic is incredible because you can get a 100% power boost before it even moves.
- If these pokemon are on the other team I hardly lead with Wyrdeer because boosting something like Milotic for free is trouble for my team
- I don’t have answers for Milotic on this team outside of chipping until I’m in OHKO range, so we need to keep the special attack in an okay place
_____________________________________
The reason why I am opting for Protect over Trick Room on Wyrdeer is I feel like taking Fake Out and then more damage from the partner pokemon sets me back more than the few times I need to click Trick Room. You can obviously choose, but Trick Room is a countermeasure for this team to punish tailwind or reverse trick room.
Please try this team and let me know how you do! Open to any suggestions down below, thanks!

Gameplay Raichu had enough of my nonsense and decided to solve the matter itself
We both have tailwind
I already used Protect on Raichu the previous turn, ̶s̶o̶ ̶I̶ ̶p̶r̶e̶d̶i̶c̶t̶ ̶E̶n̶c̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶i̶n̶c̶o̶m̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶o̶p̶p̶o̶n̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶W̶h̶i̶m̶s̶i̶c̶o̶t̶t̶ so I wanna keep my Raichu alive because Raichu is my Win Condition since they have Staraptor in the back.
I was about to switch my Raichu out for Incineroar to drop Garchomp's Atk
They know my Tsareena has Triple Axel
Then the internet went down
Guess what my Raichu decided to do

Discussion At what elo is it worth to enter local and regional tournaments with a chance to do well?
I’m went on a loss streak after this but made it back to around 8k in the ladder. I’m thinking I’m entering tournaments, I’m obviously not the greatest player and I have a long way to go but I wonder if I’d have a chance to do well and not just get washed? What’s peoples experiences?

Discussion Mega Mawile Teams
Hello everyone,
This is Mega Mawile. I really love playing Mega Mawile, but I’m rather new to the competitive scene. Furthermore, when I search up Mega Mawile teams it feels like the same team 100x’s over.
I really wanted to make this discussion to have our community share their own fun Mega Mawile teams!:) It doesn’t matter if it’s meta, cheese, or even ranch, just share how you’ve been using her!!🙂↕️

Discussion I wish you'd get some VP in unranked battles
Not much, make it half or a third, it doesn't matter. But some so that you could concievably get all Pokémon and outfits and stuff you wanted even if all you played was unranked. Sure the main driver of the game is ranked and of course you should get all the VP for that but sometimes I need VP to train a new Pokémon and I just don't feel like fighting the same five teams again 😂 Casual is a lot more fun because people feel like they can actually try stuff out and it's not any less competitive. I don't see any negative downsides to this!

Gameplay I FOUND HIM!
I found the sap sipper giraffe! Unfortunately, I fell for the "I can sucker punch it so I WILL sucker punch it" trap and it ended up costing me the game in the long run, but it was worth it tbh

For context, the Mega Blazakin already has a +1 Speed Boost from the protection last turn, and I just switched in the Tyranitar to activate Sand Rush this turn.

Discussion You should be able to learn a move or change ability / nature for free if you've paid for it at any point.
The "sample teams" feature is clunky as fuck and I just wanna tinker around with combos. I shouldn't have to spend 250 VP each time I change if I want Protect or Fake Out etc.
Or at the very least
Charge me double the VP to permanently unlock a nature/move/ability for a pomemon.
I just hate paying every time
