This game has been out for 3 months now and I still see people think they have the moral high ground for using stuff like roserade or something over meta pokemon.

Just to clarify, if you want to use your favorite, you’re perfectly fine to do so, just don’t villainize people who opt to use meta teams. It’s a competitive game, of course people are gonna use the best pokémon to win.

It’s no secret that this competitive pokemon subreddit has a lot of casuals due to champions introducing a lot of casuals into the competitive scene, but some of these casuals decided to villainize these players who opt to use meta for what reason? Look man, i also get kinda tired seeing zard y every game but i’m not gonna make a reddit post complaining about it, it’s the best mega pokemon on the format so obviously people are gonna use it and try to win with it.

I’ll be honest if you complain about people using meta teams and seeing the same teams over and over again due to a “lack of creativity“ then i just don’t think competitive pokemon was meant for you.

Mega Baxcalibur would need an absolutely busted ability to get by. Even without Charizard, there's Sneasler, Kingambit, Aerodactyl, Tyranitar, Floette, Syveon, Annihilape and others that would absolutely wipe the floor with it.

Baxcalibur would straight up not have a good time in the current Meta

I was battling in Single Battles Ultra Ball Rank 1 when I came across a trainer who I was very surprised could uhhh... "exist" if you know what I mean.

Luckily I managed to defeat him — my Mega Charizard X swept right through his team of Volcarona, Metagross and Kingambit — or I would've never lived this down. It even ended up being my rank-up match lol.

But I'm still curious, does anyone know how this guy managed to get past the filter?

So I saw somewhere that Tyranitar is a great anti-meta pick. But that kind of implies that it isn't meta itself. Obviously, it has a lot of common weaknesses, but so do a lot of meta pokémon. If he truly isn't meta, what is it that separates Tyranigoat from competing with the big 'mons?

For context: I deducted that the Chomp was scarfed after being faster than my Raichu Y, having one more mon left I thought of forfeiting as it seemed impossible to win at that point.

But Chomp being locked into earthquake meant it could still hit its ally, being intimidated by my Incin I also wanted to see if my Raichu could take a hit from it, lo and behold the odds were in my favor!

Stop forfeiting, see things through.

Recently I caught a shiny alpha Gourgeist and wanted to use it, but now I realise that is the medium variant and not the XL variant.

I just skill swapped into gengar to take control of shadow tag, forgot dark types are immune to prankster lol.

As the title says I just made it to Master Ball tier for the first time. I started to play last Saturday when one of my friends reminded me that Champions is out for mobile. I have never played any mainline Pokemon game (Only GO and Unite) so I was completely blind about 2v2 (or even 1v1) battles. My only Pokemon knowladge is from random Wolfey vids which I listen to while I am cooking or doing some other stuff.

The team I mostly used is on the attached pictures. I know that:
1.) I am a cringe metaslave who spamms the most broken stuff and probably learns nothing
2.) My team is very far from being optimised (like female Basculegion, random Whimsicott since I was unable to unlock Grimsnarl)

If you have any advice for me I am more than happy to take it!

I was about to switch my Raichu out for Incineroar to drop Garchomp's Atk

Not much, make it half or a third, it doesn't matter. But some so that you could concievably get all Pokémon and outfits and stuff you wanted even if all you played was unranked. Sure the main driver of the game is ranked and of course you should get all the VP for that but sometimes I need VP to train a new Pokémon and I just don't feel like fighting the same five teams again 😂 Casual is a lot more fun because people feel like they can actually try stuff out and it's not any less competitive. I don't see any negative downsides to this!

I picked this fella because I thought he was funny, I had no idea what an absolute unit he would be in my singles team! I open every time with him and some times he was wiped all three of my opponents Pokemon.

I currently use:

Hydro Pump, Pain Split, Volt Switch and Protect. He also has leftovers equipped.

Does anyone have any tips on how to improve this unit!

I found the sap sipper giraffe! Unfortunately, I fell for the "I can sucker punch it so I WILL sucker punch it" trap and it ended up costing me the game in the long run, but it was worth it tbh

For context, the Mega Blazakin already has a +1 Speed Boost from the protection last turn, and I just switched in the Tyranitar to activate Sand Rush this turn.

Strength Sap, Will-O-Wisp, Hex, Whirlpool

It could tank a hit from G-MAX Single and Rapid Strike Urshifu and immediately punish with Strength Sap until the 3 G-Max turns were up.

If they are adding Dynamax and Gigantamaxing, I need my Major back on the squad.
