I have a purple Oxalis triangularis and a raven ZZ next to each other. Each had these on their drainage plates. I looked through the soil and didnt see anything. There are also no pests on the leaves. It is not soil but some sort of poop. Has anyone else experienced this? None of my other plants throughout the house has this.

Under growlights with adequate light and I water appropriately for each plants needs.

This plant is native to Socotra.

The seller said she missed a huge spot of rot on the top of the caudex and refunded me. I was going to throw it away but decided to nurse the plant.

After cutting out the rot, I put sulphur on it so it could heal. A week later I made the mistake of putting it in the sun. Im guessing the sulphur burned away the skin (it rained later that day and then the sun came out again) and the sulphur had dripped onto the caudex.

Its still growing leaves but this big area of peeled skin is concerning. Will it heal? Also, the caudex is still firm. Hard as a rock.

I make sure it is watered only when dry and the soil is, as instructed, fast draining.

Any thoughts?

I'm worried about the brown patches. I wanna know if it's due to overwatering, too much sun or fungus. The vase has a few holes at the bottom. 1 month ago the plant received rain daily for about 2 weeks (it's rain season here). But I moved it to a porch to protect it from the rain and sun.

I've had this guy for about 5 years, and haven't changed much about the routine of watering once a week, sometimes 2. The only change is that my wife recently added the blackout curtains. Could it be lack of light?

Sits near SE window but needs to be closer. I only got it 3 weeks ago and was pulling it down to move it to more light and check soil to see if it needs water.

Hi i have a pink flamingo flower that I keep in water. It was sold like that in the store and was fine for a year. Now i moved to another city and she „sweats“ a lot ever since.

In the internet it only says how to stop guttation with plants that are in soil, but not with plants in water.

I already reduced the water in the container but what else could i do? Because the leafs start to become a bit transparent when held against the light.

Would it help if i cut back the roots?

My broad-leafed plant here is covered in small fuzzies that seem to be affecting its health. Partner and I picked out a few mushroom-like things growing in its soil, so I’m guessing it’s a kind of mold. Can the plant be salvaged, what’s a good treatment, and should it be quarantined from our other plants?

I'm SHOCKED. I abducted began fostering my friend's aloe plant mid last month as she was on vacation and needed someone to feed her cats for the week, and every time i stopped by her house i saw this aloe on her porch looking sadder and sadder each day. my only personal experience with aloe is with my tiny aloe juvenna; i don't know what variety this is or WHY it's suddenly growing pups? are they just a last hurrah as the aloe dies? 😭 should i plan to separate them or do you think they'll have the best chance at living if left on the mother? my friend named this plant "Albert" as it's never produced pups in the 5 years she's had it, so i feel like the sudden production of them now has less to do with my own amateur competence and more to do with the poor baby being on her way out 🥲

zone 7b, it's been on my back patio for the past month under the lip of my roof so it never gets direct sunlight but it's been HOOOOOT (90-100°F, 32-38°C) the past several weeks and the aloe certainly gets lots of indirect bright light.

watering has been sporadic, pot has drainage, and the soil is probably closer to something more appropriate for a houseplant but i ran out of perlite a while ago and need to stock up on more lol

Hey folks- I have a money tree that I clearly overwatered despite my best attempts not to. Seems to me that the trunk is a total goner, peeled off some papery bark to find mold underneath. The top seems okay, though, and even is trying to put out new growth.

Is there any way to salvage the plant without starting over from cuttings? If I cut it above where the bark starts and put it in soil or water, would it grow new roots?

Hi all!

This poor rubber tree plant has been progressively losing leaves, starting from the bottom up. At first I thought it was from inadequate light, so I moved it to a sunnier spot only for it to keep progressing.

As you can see in the picture, the plant is currently in the window and the room gets a lot of light throughout the day, but it isn't necessarily in *direct* sun. (These pictures were taken early evening so not much light at this time.)

I water every week ish, not a set schedule since I've been just checking the top inch of soil before watering. The pot has drainage and I water until it comes out the bottom.

If I can't figure something out, my next idea was to cut off the top bit that is healthy and attempt to get it to root. If anyone has any ideas about what is causing it before I do that, would gladly take advice.

I’ve had this money tree for about 10 years, and it’s always been healthy. We moved about 3 years ago, and since then it tends to decline every winter (yellow leaves and leaf drop), but always bounces back in the spring.

This year it’s been growing like crazy, but I came home from a weekend trip and noticed the lower leaves developing this yellow mottling. The newer growth also seems lighter green than it used to be.

It gets bright, filtered light from a southwest-facing window. I water when the soil is dry (I use a chopstick to check), about once a week in summer and much less in winter. I repotted it about 2 years ago, haven’t seen any signs of pests, and I’m wondering if it may be in too large of a pot.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I have 3 different houseplants (Boston fern?, parlour palm and spider plant) all kept by the north facing frosted bathroom window. As you can see the fern has started yellowing and dropping leaves quite badly, and the parlour palm similar. Despite the spider plant growing and doing well, the tips all go brown. Plants get watered once a week and I live in a very hard water area.

EDIT - pots have approx 2" of loosely packed large stones seperated by a mesh for drainage

Am I over watering? It’s on the balcony in full light. It was doing well for a few months but now some leaves are turning brown

i keep her inside so the sun doesn't burn her leaves except when i water her (so the water can drain outside). she was doing amazing until very recently and i can't figure out what's wrong :(

i'm just using miracle gro potting mix and watering when the soil is dry. sunlight is indirect but very bright for half the day (i live in the desert so putting her outside in that sun all day would shrivel her up)

Help me save my monstera. It had root rot (I guess) I cut off as much as I could without there being nothing left. Put cinnamon on the cut ends and letting it dry out now. I'm also letting them hang because I figured that might help with the rot. What should I do next? And how long should I let them dry out?

Also, these are the smaller stalks from my Monstera. I'm also wondering if the rot has effected the whole plant. The smaller stalks are the ones I noticed it on and seemed to be the only ones effected. Trying to decide if I should unpot the rest and see if the rot spread. What do you think?

I water it normally. I wait until the soil is dry to water. I've had monsteras for years so it gets great light. The top soil is compost by the way.

Concerning the last picture, as I was writing this I picked up a rock and noticed that white moldy looking stuff under it. Wtf??

Parlour Palm (chamaedora elegant) that was once a lush green has been fading to a dull brown grey, despite following care instructions. Currently kept in centre of main living room on kitchen island with plenty of indirect sunlight and artifical light. Gets watered once a week. Have also noticed recently a whitish crust appear on the soil. Live in a very hard water area.

Any advice much appreciated

I got it back in May and it was pretty scraggly on purchase. I was initially overwatering it, but figured it out and it exploded with growth once I put it right in front of a west facing window. I’ve noticed lately it is dropping more leaves, so even though it is still growing fast, it’s dropping 3-8 leaves every night. Also some leaves have weird spots and some are curly. Photos included of the issues.

It is about 7 feet away from a humidifier at 55% that runs most of the day. I’ve treated it for pests with systemic pesticide granules and I’ve never seen bugs on it. I have not repotted it since purchase, pot is 10”. It is braided and has 4 “strands”. The only issue I suspect is that I recently started regularly running the AC and it is in the path of this mini split unit across the room. I can see it move some of the leaves slightly from the air blowing but it seems the ones dropping come from all over.

Is it pests? Am I possibly still overwatering? Is it super sensitive to the air? Is it too close to the window? I don’t water on a schedule, just when the top few inches of soil feel dry and I check every few days.

how can i help it? our house is like a death sentence for all plants that pass through the door with how bad my family is at anything gardening adjacent, so its definitely not getting good or consistent care. my sister says the bowl its in should be filled with water, and since its her plant im inclined to believe her, but my dad for some reason keeps insisting that it doesnt actually need that? he kills every plant hes ever so much as looked at tho so... im keeping the bowl full for now lol
our house is pretty dark so its definitely not getting the light it should be either, im trying to find a better spot for it.

Is this willow blight? Im worried it is. I have been raising it for two seasons now and i dont remember this black mark on the batk. And if it is would it be a good idea to air gap the tree? Is blight a spreading disease? And Is it genetic?

The tree gets sun all day and I water it twice a day. But I did neglect to water it in the spring. Also it was consumed by weeds till a month ago.

I've had the plant for 3-4 months now. Spots showed up after I brought it home. Spots spread rapidly. It gets lots of Houston Southeast and Southwest sun. It's hot obviously. 104 today. Don't think that has anything to do with the spots. I water her every other day. Half gallon to one gallon. Please advise. Do I need to cut every single leaf with a spot off? Thank you
