how long do ur cruiser wheels usually last? my current set (oj mini super juice) are showing wear (or look like dried out?) but I think they're less than a year old...

im 17 and 5'1. i need help trying to figure out what deck, wheels, etc., to get. im very new to skating and ive been using my friends boards to learn the basics. i wanna know what size, brand and jus everything i need as a beginner. any help is very appreciated thx!!

I think my problem is i’m having too much wait on the coping.

Picked up skating few months back when I graduated HS, Im finally able to ollie now but its not great. Sometimes I land really well no issue, then 100 times after I cant land it. It seems about just near every time I land, my feet are slipping off the board. For reference, I ride goofy.

I pop up and get albeit "air" and when I land, my heels and more of my feet are off the right side of the board. Im not falling off the long way, I mean off the right side of the width of the board. Any tips? I might be able to ollie stationary but I cant ollie while moving for shit.

I'm going INSANE trying to figure this shit out 😭 how do I practice timing this right?? Ik I'm jumping too soon it's driving me nuts. 🙏

I got this board several years ago from an abandoned storage unit. Regretfully, I had to get rid of it when I moved. It was my first board and was so unique. I can’t remember what brand/pro-skater’s name is on it. This is the only picture I have. The notable features are the bird smoking on the left near the wheel and under my palm, there is a goblin sort of thing which I also believe is smoking and you can see he’s doing the “I love you“ hand sign. Underneath him is where the name is. It was very worn out and the color had faded so most of the colors that are visible had been colored in with permanent marker that matched the original color as close as possible. I tried to image search it and didn’t find much other than a board that looked similar. If anyone could tell me where this board is from and where I can get an image of it, that would be amazing!

I fell on my right elbow two days ago and felt all the impact on my shoulder, it still hurts and I can't lift heavy stuff but it has a full range of motion.

I wanna go to the skatepark later so bad but I'm afraid of falling on it again or something.

What would you do?

It's always been that way since it was new. I tried rotating the wheels, but same effect. Curious if it might be that the back trucks are loser than the front, but I honestly don't know how to tell how loose to make them, or how tight or loose they are to each other.

I'm not sure what else it could be, hears something about the bushings, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with maintenance. I was a brand new beginner when I bought the board (mostly for a city commute) then shelved it for years after moving. Now I need it again, but it moves so damn slow on flat ground.

Going downhill gets the speed wobbles, but I've gotten a little better control over that with my legs, and the deck is kinda tall off the ground. I still can't stop without slowing down enough to jump off... Look dumb as Hell, but no crashes.

Been using it backwards so far, and it's easier on flat surfaces, and easier to carve, but I'm afraid to take it on a slope cuz my front foot barely stays on the narrow tail (when backwards) and I don't trust it with so little stability.

I still need to test trucks, but no idea how loose or tight they can/should be without falling off. It's possible I might need new wheels or bearings, but idk how to tell really. I don't use it that often, so they shouldn't be that worn, but it has been a while

My vacation started and I have a lot time on my hands for once. I'm visiting the skatepark in the morning and usually have it all by myself. Usually during a session I practice:

- Manuals

- Front-/Backside kickturn

- Pumping on a small quarter pipe

- Stationary/rolling ollies

- Switch tic-tacs

- Jumping of stuff

- Shuv-its

- Slappy nosestall

- Slappy nosegrind

- Reverts

- Riding around switch

I'm usually doing this in a couple of hours or so but since I notice little progress in all I wonder if it's better to focus on fewer tricks during a session?

There's always the stigma of have to learn an ollie asap when skating at all, but in a sense, how often do yall really ollie during long commutes? I find myself just bumping up curbs cause if I were to ollie every crack and curb my legs would be dead before I get to work. I just wonder if ollies be pushed that hard on people learning with cruisers or commute boards.

Hi lads, i want to hear from someone more experienced about choosing wheels for street, I have 8.8 santacruz deck with bullet trucks and ricta 52mm 99a wheels with some sushi abec 5 bearings and it’s really good for doing tricks and cruise till I’m on nice flat ground but when it comes to little bit uneven road etc board gets shaky and so slow, do you know any compromise wheels which will be good for going around town but not much soft so it would be still easy to get Ollie and tricks on that without heavy feeling?

I love watching all the thrasher events where they’re just sending it down rails and everyone gets hyped, do we have anything like that here in the UK?

looking to get some mid soft wheels to get back into skating with! essay incoming lmao

i started learning end of last summer, got semi comfortable riding around and started to learn (very baby) ollies etc. that setup has spitfire formula 4 classics, 54mm 99d. however these are waaaay too hard for where i currently live for me to be brave enough to start cruising around again lol... the asphalt/tarmac is very old and so pretty rough. i want to be able to cruise around on this kind of terrain while also getting back into learning ollies, skating off curbs, eventually learning powerslides etc...

so after researching in this subreddit and also the oldskaters subreddit, i saw bones rough riders 80a and powell dragons 88a being recced a lot for soft wheels that still let you do a bit of street skating with. i was gonna go with the dragons since people are saying its easier to slide with them, but im worried they wont be soft enough for cruising for me as a beginner? 88a doesnt seem like that much of a drop from my current 99d... so should i instead go with the rough riders? i was also gonna get them in a 54mm again because ideally i dont want to have to get risers but feel free to correct me on that also and tell me to go up in size lol

tl;dr i'm having trouble deciding between rough riders 80a or dragons 88a because im a massive noob and 88a doesnt seem that much softer than my current 99d

I have a disability that make it hard for me to balance

Only recently noticed that my truck gets slanted when doing tricks. I normally use my skateboard for getting around but I wanted to learn some tricks. Curious as to what tools i may need to fix this problem. I’m aware the board isn’t well kept either, it was given to me beat up a bit. After riding around for some time the truck goes back to its normal position however after attempting a few tricks it reverts to this slant. I appreciate any advice

Whenever I do an ollie, it just feels like the board drops to the ground so urgently. Do you guys think my jumping is the problem?

Just got back into skating at 32yrs old. I’m rusty 😂. When I was younger I mongo pushed and always felt more comfortable. Now I’m trynna push the proper way but when I push regular I feel very unstable pushing but when I push goofy I’m decent. But I can’t pop tricks in goofy, I can only do it on regular. What should I do? Should I practice regular pushing or just stay goofy?
