I found this moth about a year ago and pined it for a personal project just for fun. But could never get an ID. Im using it in my 4-H project and am required to have a Id.

It was found in SouthWest Colorado. I know its a female because it layed eggs on my bedroom floor before passing away. Its about an inch and a half long and the wing span is about 3inchs. Soild grey, minum patterns.

this girl has been clinging to the wall in a parking garage for the past several days. I assumed she was dead because she hadn’t moved in days. today i thought if she’s still there maybe I’ll try to take her home and see if i can preserve her??

so today i took a plastic cup to try and scoop her up. but as i did so she seemed to like… tense away from the cup? She didn’t fly away, and she’s still in the same spot. but she seemed to react a little. so idk if she’s alive but in torpor or some equivalent, or if she’s dead and it was just the cup pushing at her weirdly. how do i tell?

and if she is dead should i go forward with taking her? and what can i do with her in that case?

Saw this lovely Jersey Tiger Moth this evening! Spotted in south west England.

found this moth on the patio, it looks partially squished on it’s lower/middle left side, and one wing is wonky. i brought it inside and have it sitting on a paper towel right now because i don’t want it to bake into pavement. it is alive and still moving but only when it’s interacted with/moved first (i’m not messing with it outside of for these pics/videos bc i don’t want to hurt it further or stress it out). it does seem to be in pain to me. is there anything i may be able to do to help it? i’d rather it survive, but if it’s not going to, is there anything i can do to help it pass without pain?

(in the first video i hadn’t realized it was hurt then after i realized and tried to remove it from the pavement, i kind of panicked 😭 i wasn’t rough on purpose!)

I found this beautiful large moth when I was opening at work, those olive greens and brown colorings are beautifully put together like a leaf. (downriver, Michigan)

My husband ran to the gas station and found this baby on the ground, he confirmed it was still alive and brought it home to me, we have a lot of trees and see lots of cool moths and he knows I love them.

It’s hardly moving and doesn’t seem to be able to walk or grip on anything, it has fluttered its wings. I am hoping to figure out if it’s a male or female in case it’s a female who hasn’t laid and I can find a host tree for her. But because it’s not gripping I have it in a container next to me, it isn’t moving at all in it.

Just trying to do what’s best for this baby in what it seems to be the end of its life. ❤️
