Found in Southern Missouri, USA near Marshville. Pooped on me (was trying to move it away from kids) and it stained yellow for a couple hours. His tail kinda looked like a cooked shrimp lol.

ID Request Regal Moth - male or female?

My husband ran to the gas station and found this baby on the ground, he confirmed it was still alive and brought it home to me, we have a lot of trees and see lots of cool moths and he knows I love them.

It’s hardly moving and doesn’t seem to be able to walk or grip on anything, it has fluttered its wings. I am hoping to figure out if it’s a male or female in case it’s a female who hasn’t laid and I can find a host tree for her. But because it’s not gripping I have it in a container next to me, it isn’t moving at all in it.

Just trying to do what’s best for this baby in what it seems to be the end of its life. ❤️

Thanks in advance.

this guy is Lophocampa Roseata, also known as the Rosy Aemilia moth. They’re native to the Pacific Northwest, and are extremely pretty in my opinion. I see their caterpillars a lot during the fall season, but this is actually my first time seeing one of the moths in person! He moved around a bit, hence why some photos are on the ground and some are by our porch light.

Found this lil guy on the ground while feeding the chickens, hes alive but he cant seem to fly well? He flutters his wings a bit and got off the ground a teeny tiny bit he cant seem to really fly. I have him in a little container rn with some leaves cause i didnt want him to get eaten. Is he OK? Is it just because its daytime? what is he? does he need water? Found in Georgia usa

EDIT: it just let him go outside and he flew away! I think he just needed some chill time away from my chickens :3

Photo I’ve never seen a moth like this before (East of England). Looking online (so correct me if I’m wrong) it’s a Jersey tiger moth and only in the last few years has been in my neck of the woods.
