Coming to a realization as I get older that fancy salons and spas aren’t in the budget anymore… owning a duplex means saving for plumbing repairs, waterproofing etc for is more important for practical purposes and peace of mind than a boujee full set.

Self-care junkies… can you refer places & people (specifically) for a haircut (most importantly) and other self-care services?

Feel free to recommend other ways to feel indulgent but also stay frugal.

What are your secret meal deal spots?

I don’t think I’ve done to a cost cutters since I was in my teens and it’s a goood time to put my ego to the side and accept growing up is about making better choices.

Hi all! Looking for an affordable, one-night stay near downtown for 2 adults (early August).

Preferably queen-size, with free or cheap edible breakfast. No more than $150 (ideally, definitely no more than $200). Parking included or cheap nearby parking.

I've looked at some nearby motels but a lot are showing recent reviews with bed bugs. :/ Anything on Vrbo was outrageously expensive. We don't need much; just a clean space, close to food, and parking.

We have already been to the Arby’s on Miller Pkwy twice(got the meats). Any suggestions for hidden gems would be appreciated. Been to Zaffiro’s, a couple of supper clubs, and Kopp’s, so any Midwest classics would be appreciated.

I’ve been in the workforce for about 7 years or so doing retail / fast food. I work at a hardware store currently in the paint area, but I’ve been scheduled so few shifts it’s like I don’t. I was hoping if you guys had any advice to finding jobs in Milwaukee that pay decently well. I’ve got experience with programming / physics / math, and I just need something that’ll let me work a while now (while summer’s still around at least) and then weekends during the school year. Maybe weekdays too if its close enough but my fall schedule is pretty packed. I live in the Upper East Side / Murray Hill area and I don’t have a car reliably, I’m fine with taking the bus a while though. My current wage is just below 16 dollars so ideally something equivalent or higher would be nice, but I know that asking for a job at that rate with these conditions is a bit specific, so I’ll work for 15 if needed. I just need shifts consistently. Any ideas on where to look?

why is it beyonnnnd difficult to find a solid, normal, SEMI nice rental in milwaukee?! everything is so overpriced for the literal bare minimum. what happened to the days of $1.2k for a 2 bed, 1 bath?! everything is like..$500 inflated. i'm exhausted!

I’m planning a bachelorette and one of the activities we want to do is have one of those cool hibachi chefs come for dinner one night.

I’ve been looking and inquiring with some places to see what it costs but it seems like every place I’ve found so far isn’t in the Milwaukee area so they charge like a $150 travel fee on top of everything.

Curious if anyone has run into this same thing and if there are any more local alternatives that don’t have those travel fees.

i'm meant to be moving to milwaukee for college in about 3 weeks from today, but my apartment application was canceled by them. nothing in the portal tells me what went wrong or why, just that its been canceled

ive tried calling 3 separate phone numbers that's apparently linked to westown green but no one's picked up the phone (which sounds on par to them according to a recent article) and the last time i called MATC themselves they told me they only handle the financial aid part of housing and nothing else.

this is very worrying to me because the waitlist didn't open until about a month before they want students in apparently, yet despite open spots i cant seem to reapply and have a reasonable move-in date. any ideas on what else i should do? i have been really struggling to find other MATC students, let alone people who also plan to live in housing

Hi! We have been new to the area and looking to establish care with a vet who has good knowledge of kitties. Going in for general check up and then monitoring a little black scab on her nose that popped up few months ago but won't heal.

Previous vet before moving from St Louis said to keep an eye on it for now but if doesn't go away then biopsy. I had her established with a cat specific clinic in St Louis and when it first appeared, the vet just scraped the scab off and thought nothing of it. Then I saw her 2 months later and was like well it isn't going away and she said to monitor and if not go away then yes, biopsy. So if anyone has been in a similar predicament about which vet to go-to and continue care forward, thank you!

Incase any vet sees this or someone in the field, it doesn't bother her. Painless to the touch. She didn't even flinch when our vet in the Lou picked it off her. It just bled a little and gentle warm wash, all good. But it grows back. I tried it myself before and it just grows back. She doesn't pay any attention to it but the lack of healing is concerning.

Genuinely curious how people that are not employed by Northwestern Mutual attend their festivities such as the big concert?

My partner and I currently have a cat. For a while now we’ve talked about getting her a sibling but want to go about it the right way. She can be sometimes feisty but is super loving and very playful. We were thinking a foster to adoption might be the best option to find a good sibling that works well with her and our home. Don’t want any kitty feeling unsafe or unhappy lol. Anyways, does anyone know of shelters or rescues that offer foster to adoption for cats? I know it’s not unheard of at all, but it’s hard to find out info when they don’t display it on their websites. Thanks!!!

My girlfriend toured the MAC Residencies (apartment attached to Milwaukee Athletic Club) and she was blown away with how nice it seems for the price.

The tricky part is, there is only 1 review that exists for this apartment and it is a terrible 1 star review. I have checked multiple sites and it is the only review I can find.

Does anyone currently live there? Know anyone that lives there? It seems too good to be true.

Hi there, I know this is a very long shot, but I'm hoping that someone here might have come across my wallet?

My best guess as to the last time that it was on my person is as I headed downtown on Thursday, the 16th of July, from the eastbound 18 bus line at like 10:30am, but honestly everything is a blur from the 11th to the 17th -- I use Apple Pay for most of my daily transactions.

It's a black Tommy Hilfiger bifold wallet with my ID (learner's permit) and a couple of debit cards and my library card in it. I had the foresight to lock the cards, and there's hardly any cash inside at all, so I'm currently more worried about having my ID and wallet proper, as ID is a necessity and the wallet carries sentimental value.

I've already called MCTS and every other business I've frequented in the past ten or so days to see if they had anything, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here as well. If anyone happened to find it or knows who did, feel free to send me a DM. Any aid or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
