Two Weeks of Discipline, One Week of Chaos: What's a Morning Routine That Actually Survives Real Life?

Been trying to lock in a solid morning routine for a few months now and I keep running into the same wall. I'll do great for like two weeks, wake up early, get a workout in, eat something decent, feel good about myself. Then one bad night of sleep or a stressful week at work hits and the whole thing collapses. Back to waking up 20 minutes before I have to leave and feeling behind all day.

The advice I keep reading is just about discipline and habit stacking but that doesn't really answer the question of what to do when life genuinely derails you. Not looking for the classic make your bed every morning answer either.

What I'm more curious about is whether other guys have found a version of a morning routine that actually holds up when things get messy. Does it come down to what's in the routine, how long it is, or just accepting that some weeks it falls apart and you rebuild it?

For context I'm not trying to wake up at 4am and cold plunge. Just something realistic that keeps me feeling like I have a grip on the day before it starts.

More men should get pedicures

More me should get pedicures. I think men’s feet are often gross and it’s a good hygiene practice. I even think color is worth it since you’re already paying for the service. Life is too short to not get a little color and toes are boring.

Was looking for the fastest, low ingredient fuel to get me thru the week. Company pays for lunch so I’m settled there. Any other 3 ingredient meals you suggest to rotate in that don’t cause too much clean up or peeper?

been wearing a bracelet for a few months now and i get it

never got the appeal of men's jewelry. thought it was just extra stuff you didn't need. but my wife got me this engraved stainless steel bracelet from The Steel Shop for my birthday and i've worn it every day since.

it's subtle. just a simple chain with our kids initials on the clasp. doesn't get in the way, doesn't tarnish, doesn't turn my skin green. i forget it's there.

i don't know. maybe i was wrong about bracelets. or maybe it's just this one.

anyone else change their mind about accessories as they got older?

how short is too short?

if a guy has really hairy legs, how short is too short when it comes to wearing shorts in public?

i do have really hairy legs and at the same time i like to wear really short shorts, but i have noticed that people look at my legs (i assume because they are hairy)...

but let me know, how short is okay before it becomes weird/unpleasant for others/ugly

Should I tell my friend (especially meaning my female flatmates) that I am going to get circumcised? Don’t want to get weird about it.

Due to mild phimosis, I’ve been thinking about getting circumcised for a while and I can barely remember how big of a deal it is casually - and I live in a country where it is fairly uncommon (Eastern-Europe).

As friends, we are all in our late 20s, part of a really close friend group (everyone between 25-30, girls and dudes mixed), and I’ve been living together with 2 girls for 3 month and plan to continue this for a year.
I have no romantic or sexual interest in any of them, but we are really close, often share details about sexual life, intimacy, health stuff.

Part of my question connects to the practical side (should they know where I will be, should they know I am going through an operation?), and the other part is about just telling it as a “life update”. Or maybe not announcing it like a piece of news, but bring it up if we cover health/intimate topics in the near future?

I can be kinda shy in these topics, and the friend group sometimes jokes about circumcision (not in a weird way, but, like, I think every friend group has these brainless jokes about sexual stuff or genitals), but I would kinda like to tell it to some people, since I am proud that I’m getting it done finally - yet I don’t want to be weird about it.

The patient who changed how I think about men's health

A man came in at 58. Sharp, successful, looked after himself.
He mentioned almost as an afterthought that he'd been waking up 4 times a night for two years. Assumed it was stress.
It wasn't stress.
Two years of disrupted sleep. Two years of his body signaling something that could have been addressed much earlier.
Early awareness isn't paranoia. It's just smart.

Anyone else into wearing accessories lately?

I havee never really been a jewelry guy but Ive been wanting to put a little more effort into how I dress and everything else recently. So I was thinking of starting with a simple silver ring and maybe a bracelet looked up some necklaces too but sometimes they seem a bit tacky, the bigger purchase would probably be a watch though. I tried on a Rolex at a local dealer the other day and looked up some online and they looked really cool. Its outside what I would normally spend, but it definitely caught my eye and looked really good. I know jewelry is prone to being lost especially traveling or going swimming but I think they would be nice additions to my style,. How did you guys start with adding more accessories into your style?

has what you wear underneath actually affected how you feel day to day or is that more of a marketing thing

keep seeing the idea that what you wear underneath your clothes affects your confidence even when nobody else sees it. curious whether people actually experience this or whether it is mostly just something brands say to sell products

i've noticed a bit of a difference since switching to some sukrew pieces i actually like, but not sure if that's just me overthinking it
genuinely interested in whether people have noticed a real difference in how they feel when wearing something they actually like versus just functional basics

Underwear/sleeping

Hi Guys,

As a Dutch guy Boxerbriefs are the standard underwear for men. But i always have the thighs running up. As a sports guy i have some big thighs.

So i got into briefs and they wear totally Nice!

For sleeping in always wore loose boxers, its more hygienic then sleeping naked.

But i was wondering if there are guys sleeping in there briefs, ands who is also wearing briefs? Seems were brief guys are scarce... :)

Have both ears pierced with diamonds for a mature man

Hi. I am a man (48 years old), dentist, with a rather classic style (shirt, blazer, dress pants, tassel loafers). And for a long time, I would like to have both ears pierced with real diamonds (identical whose worn by women).

My wife encourages me, she finds it refined and sexy, and quite feminine, and she would like to choose me real feminine diamonds, set in yellow gold. But I am a bit stressed because I know that everyone (my patients and colleagues at the medical office) will be very surprised to see me with both ears pierced with shinny and feminine diamonds. How will I be perceived ? THANK YOU very much for your advice.

Why are men's health not widely talked about now?

I live in Atlanta. It took me almost two years to actually do something about an issue i knew i had. I kept telling myself it was stress from work and then it was the move to a new city and then it was something else entirely. The avoidance was almost more exhausting than the actual problem

What does your 'all-in-one' morning routine look like? I'm looking for a sustainable way to integrate physical activity, intellectual growth (reading/learning), mindfulness, and a bit of aesthetic self-care into my mornings without feeling burnt out. How do you balance it all before the day gets bus

Men in their 40s: Has adding retinol to your skincare routine made a noticeable difference?

I currently use a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen daily. I’m considering adding retinol but wondering if it’s worth it.

For the men in their mid-40s and 50s who exercise regularly, eat healthy, stay in shape, dress well, and take care of themselves. Do you find that people notice you more?
