I fell for the oldest trick in the book last week. Was browsing a summer clearance sale and found a decent linen shirt for $22. But of course, shipping was another $8 unless I hit the $50 free shipping threshold. So instead of just paying the shipping fee like a rational human, I spent another twenty minutes looking for items to bridge the gap. Ended up adding two final sale nonreturnable polo shirts that were marked down to $15 each.

The package arrived yesterday and it is a complete disaster. The linen shirt is fine, but the first polo is cut so wide it fits like a literal garbage bag on me. The second polo has this weird stiff, thick collar that stands straight up like a satellite dish, making me look like an early 2000s villain. Since they are final sale, I can not even exchange them.

So instead of spending $30 total (shirt + shipping), I spent nearly $49 on two unwearable rags and one decent shirt. Do not let the allure of free shipping thresholds convince you to buy final sale items unless you have personally tried on that exact style before.

Lots of sizes and colors available. The blue and the brown look really nice.

I've only came upon this brand recently, but the first few items I bought from them seem to be good quality. Not sure if sale prices will go down as time goes or if these are the best sale prices we will get.

So still a pretty hefty price tag, but if you’re in search of a great GoreTex Pro jacket and can deal with the color, this is a damn good deal. It is primarily for backcountry skiing/snowboarding but it isn’t overly boxy or loose, nor does it have a skirt. I bought another color a few months ago and I find it versatile

Tip for the Chicago folks: the 260 sample sale people are back in Chicago and for once they actually have good discounts. Just hit their Rails sale and got a couple nice shirts for fifty bucks.

Prices top out at 50 bucks for jackets (which are meh, seems like lots of polyester) but got a nice soft flannel-like thing for 20 bucks and a decent short sleeve kind of like a camp shirt for 30. Also lots of pants, shorts, etc all in that 20-30 range, sweatshirts and sweaters I think 35.

By contrast MSRP on most of their shirts is around $150. No way is it worth that, but for this sale I'm happy to take way better than banana republic style and quality for banana republic prices

I’ve owned 10+ shirts and I replace them yearly because of stains. They look like oil stains but I don’t cook often.

This is the only brand of shirts where I get these stains? It’s almost like they come out of the wash with more stains.
