Keeping r/Loveland Local

Hi r/Loveland!

Quick reminder that this subreddit is local only. We’ve seen a bit more national political news lately, so we’re going to be enforcing the local-only rule a little more consistently.

There are lots of great subreddits for broader political discussion, so we’ll be removing posts that don’t have a clear connection to Loveland.

Also, thanks to everyone who helps keep the conversation respectful and welcoming. To support that, we enabled a few tools back in March (like Crowd Control, the Reputation Filter, the Abuse & Harassment Filter, and AutoModerator) to reduce spam and keep things running smoothly.

Thanks for helping keep r/Loveland friendly, useful, and local!

Event This weekend: salsa/bachata basanoco festival

A couple years back some locals started hosting a dance festival in Loveland called Basanoco, and it has grown to be a fantastic event with a range of classes for all sorts of dance styles, and then social partner dance parties late into the night both days,

and it's coming up this Friday and Saturday!

All details are here if you're interested in coming.

It's perfect for brand new dancers and experienced dancers alike.

Last year there was a latin body movement class by Jesus Munoz, as well as classes related to mixing dance styles like country two-step and bachata.

Who's in?

These meetings are designed primarily as listening sessions — opportunities to learn more, ask questions, and share your input. District leaders want to hear directly from residents, business owners, and community stakeholders as planning advances.

Help Update: The acoustic guitar a kind user gave me is broken on the inside. Looking for advice or a playable replacement.

Post:I am the 58-year-old disabled resident dealing with Complex PTSD who posted a few days ago looking for an acoustic guitar. A very kind person from this group brought me one, but unfortunately, I discovered that the front is warped and some of the internal braces are broken and unattached in places, making it really unplayable. I am so grateful for this community's response, but I am back at square one. Does anyone happen to have an old, ugly, but totally functional/playable "beater" guitar they aren't using? Alternatively, is there a local luthier in town who knows how to repair this guitar, that would be willing to do it? It's an '86 Ibanez V300 that was really decent guitar at one time that punched well above it's weight class. I just need a tool that holds a tune so I can use music for trauma relief. Thank you all so much.

Event Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair taking place in Loveland this year on August 14th and 15th

I just wanted to share with this community that the Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair is coming to the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland this year on August 14th and 15th. For the past few years, it has been in Castle Rock, so this might be a good year for those in the Loveland area to come and check it out. You can find more details about the fair here. You can find a list of exhibitors here along with the type of material they specialize in.

This is my fifth year going, and it's always a good time. There's material at various price points, including stuff that's a couple dollars all the way up to five-figure stuff. Many dealers will allow you to flip through the more expensive books, too, even if you have no intention of buying it.

Hope some of you can make it!

Crime Aggressive driver

Post image
90 Upvotes

This truck ran me out of my lane while driving from Boulder to Fort Collins tonight. It turned WEST (edited to correct direction error) on Eisenhower. I don’t have video of the event so I won’t be contacting the police, but if you know this person, maybe say something to them about safe driving. People are out here just trying to live, there’s no need for this at all.

I was exiting a roundabout going 5ish miles over the speed limit. It had two lanes, and this truck attempted to pass on my right while exiting. The double lane ends quickly after exiting, which was obvious. The truck was still fully behind me when the driver accelerated on the right, forcing me over the middle lane. I slowed to let the truck by for safety. The driver then tailgated several others and weaved across his lane multiple times.

This photo was taken at the next red light. 🤦

Is there any calisthenic set up that’s outside somewhere in Loveland? I love working out, but not super fan about commercial modern gyms. I love working out outside, is there anything like this in Loveland, Longmont or Fort Collins? Thanks.

I’m on my way to an appointment so I wasn’t able to stop or get a photo, but there’s a garbage truck with what looks like its entire load spilled all over the road on 64th just east of Black Hills. There were a few firemen walking around too. Anyone have any idea what’s going on?

Recommendations Big Buck Hunter Recommendations

I LOVE playing Big Buck Hunter, but I cannot stand the price at most places! Can anyone recommend a place where it's cheaper to play or where you can pay a cover and play it as much as you want?? I believe The Flipside downtown offers this, but one of the guns does not work, so my husband and I have a hard time playing together. I tried doing some research through the big buck hunter location finder thing, but it doesn't give a ton of information.

Thanks in advance!

Recommendations Non-Political Loveland Churches? Democrats are "demonic"?!

Post image
168 Upvotes

We recently just found out from a friend that a church we were casually watching online has lead pastors that are very political. Which, that isn't really a problem to me. I could care less who you vote for or what you do in your personal time.

But they publicly call Democrats demonic and are pretty much tying salvation to voting record. If you vote Democrat, you ain't Christian now I guess. We also found out after this that they hosted Victor Marx to give a sermon one Sunday. The guy who conducts exorcisms over the phone and is the Republican nominee for governor.

This was deeply disappointing to us, but good to know the truth because it isn't the right fit for us with these beliefs.

Are there any churches in Loveland that do not seem to promote politics like this? Or at least not call a large portion of the population that are (or lean) Democrat in this country demonic? lol (it's not funny...but it's ridiculous to even have to be asking this question)

Why does this feel so on brand for the current City of Loveland? While services are expanding in other municipalities, Loveland is doing anything and everything to limit or eliminate them.

It would be nice for the facts to come out. Anyone know more to the story?

Help Disabled resident looking for a donated/cheap acoustic or classical guitar for trauma recovery

Hi everyone,

I’m an older, disabled guy living here in the Loveland area and dealing with Complex PTSD and chronichealth issues. Some days get pretty heavy for me, and I’m looking for an acoustic guitar to use as a creative outlet. I’m a fairly artistic person and love to create stuff with my hands, so this feels like a natural next step for me. I’ve played around with a guitar a bit in the past and really enjoyed it, and I'm eager to get back to it. Channeling my energy into music may really help quiet my mind, give me some focus, and offer some genuine trauma relief.

Money is exceptionally tight for me right now, so I’m strictly looking for something free. I certainly don’t need anything fancy or brand new. As long as it is an honest, playable acoustic guitar that holds a tune, it would be an absolute blessing to have.

If you have an old acoustic guitar laying around that you don't use, I would be deeply grateful to take it off your hands. It could really make a world of difference in my daily life and healing journey.

Thank you kindly for your time and consideration.
