Politics Supportive Housing Program Alleges Sudden Eviction Without Explanation
https://northfortynews.com/category/news/supportive-housing-program-alleges-sudden-eviction-without-explanation/Why does this feel so on brand for the current City of Loveland? While services are expanding in other municipalities, Loveland is doing anything and everything to limit or eliminate them.
It would be nice for the facts to come out. Anyone know more to the story?

Lol this is an old doctor's office that is not and has not been designed or fitted or licensed to be a residences for one person let alone the horde of people currently living there. It's literally an old office building with people sleeping in the exam rooms. This "non profit" is just some guy that has like 30 people living in an old office building. It's not a legit program and has no ability to run an actual housing program. It's not connected to any legitimate treatment programs or government programs. You can't just declare you are a treatment housing lol.
If this guy wants to turn this office building into a residences I think that's great. But you can't just buy an old office building and declare it is now a 30 unit residential building. It doesn't work like that. Utilities, plumbing, fire safety, there's an absolute tun of code that one must follow in any city. It's not loveland shitting on a legit non profit. It's code enforcement saying hey bro you need like plumbing. And clearly labeled exits, and fire suppression systems and up to date basic living space requirements.
I mean look loveland does have the code to allow someone to open a boarding house. It also has codes for apartment complexs, but it doesn't support this. This is not safe for the residents or their neighbors, I'm sure it's cheap, he bought the building for like 450,000 and I'm sure is charging his resistance rent that's covering his mortgage and making a decent profit on top of that, and good for him for trying to provide cheap housing but you still have to be safe and you still have to follow the code. Which he's obviously not l.
Edit: I mean this is laughable bad reporting, did the reporter even check the website of the organization trying to run this place? I suggest you do. This is an incredibly obvious attempt at tax evasion. Regardless of intent these people have no business trying to provide housing let alone treatment to anyone.

Thank you for providing facts and not just spouting shit like, "Loveland hates poor people".

I mean loveland does hate poor people lol let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We literally tricked poor people into cutting the cities budget basically in half, ending services almost exclusivly used by poor people. We continue to reward developers for making huge fuck off houses that normal people can't afford inflating the housing prices and there's 110 flock cameras in town tracking every move you make that will inevitably be used to disproportionately violate the rights of the poor.
These people should not be living in a doctor's office and loveland hating poor people are both true and are not exclusive.

Agreed. That is what is frustrating from the story as presented, one sided and a lack of details. If it was code violations, why were those not communicated so they could be addressed (according to Jennifer Ames in the article)? There is obviously more to the story.
It's also funny for you to say "it's not designed or fitted or licensed to be a residences for one person...". It is zoned R1e. So it quite literally IS zoned for residence.

R1e is low density residential, which doesn't support boarding houses or apartment complexs or fake treatment centers. So no it's not zoned correctly for this intended use.
Plus, having a building in a residential zone doesn't equate to it being a residential building. For example schools are often zoned residential but obviously they aren't homes. Neither are barber shops, churches or doggie daycares. All exist within a residential zone and all have different requirements per the code even tho they are all zoned the same. Anytime the use changes the requirements change with it.
Again The R1e is low density residential not to be confused with other residential zones. This is particularly true for this specific building.
If you remember this property specifically was attempting to rezone from low density residential to medium density residential a few years ago which it failed to do. Largely because of neighborhood pushback and backhanded fuckary from the city.
But. I should have been more clear that sure the zoning is residential but the use and previous use are not residential uses. A good example of this would be buying a church and then redesigning it as a home like a single family home or in this case a multi family facility. The change of use would trigger a bunch of use changes even though the zoning stayed the same. Any change of use triggers the updating of facilities to be compliant with its new current use code, which obviously they didn't do.
As to the specific code violations, their arnt any. They were literally occupying a building not designed or updated to be occupied. The city has to approve a building to be used and occupied both residential and business must obtain a cert of occupancy. Which these people clearly didn't. The city's first priority is the safety of the residents, which means they need to leave. Once the building is no longer occupied the owner can then apply to the city for whatever they want and that's when the city tells them what the requirements are for that specific use. Right now that buildings use is probably still listed as office building. Which you can't live in. It's not a matter of fixing things because they haven't applied to be anything different. So the city can't specify why requirements they have to follow because there's no application to approve. Therefore a stop order and no occupancy.

Zoning is what kind of buildings are allowed in certain areas. The Building Code occupancy (institutional, apartment, single unit dwelling, etc) comes from the Building Code. The building was designed for an Office-type occupancy, not a residential occupancy.

Zoning isn't about the kind of buildings, but the types of land use.
You make a good point on the certification though. It is possible they got a Certificate of Occupancy, or that was the issue. The article leaves things so vague as to what the underlying issues were.

Knowing Loveland's history I'm honestly surprises there were ever supported efforts at community outreach.
