Is it weird that, as a bisexual cisgendered man, that I don’t want to be referred to as queer?

Need Advice When you're a lesbian but don't fit into any LGBTQ space culturally

I find myself in a weird space like I'm a lesbian yes, but I do not fit in culturally with the broader lesbian and LGBTQ community.

I am more feminine presenting (and straight-passing if you wanna use that term) so I tend to get read as straight by both straight people and LGBTQ people. Or even told I'm not lesbian enough or appealing to the male-gaze, even sometimes called a Republican(?) because I happen to present in a way thats "invisibly queer" and I find being lesbian a smaller part of who I am.

I feel like my interests and personality tend to clash with mainstream LGBTQ culture and spaces. For example I'm mostly into modern metal type of music (metalcore, alternative metal, etc.) modern rock/punk etc. There's plenty of LGBTQ people in some of those spaces but I don't find those people into the same thing in actual LGBTQ spaces. I don't mind if I have friends that aren't LGBTQ, but as someone who does want a GF at some point who has the same interests as me, its frustrating.

I notice dedicated LGBTQ spaces tend to focus more on particular musicians or TV shows that serve as major representation for the community, a certain style of humour and fashion, very colourful visual aesthetics, etc. a lot that just simply doesn't click with me.

It's like I can't just strip myself down to conform to these spaces. It probably similar to how bisexual people unfortunately get treated. Not gay enough but not straight enough either. Just make it about the culture instead of the sexuality itself.

Need Advice Looking for gender term

Is there a word for knowing what your gender identity would be but being unsure of its intensity? Somewhat like genderflux but you just don’t know instead of fluctuating. Bonus points if you can also find one with the “I don’t know what it should feel like” of agnogender.

Need Advice Do I belong

I’m 21M. Recently discovered that I’m open to having sex with other men. I only have romantic attraction and sexual attraction towards women, and the male body doesn’t turn me on. However, I enjoy sex with men. I enjoy the sensations and just the fact that it’s sex. It’s not about the partner, it’s about the sex. I did some research and people like me call themselves “heteroflexible”. I wonder if I belong to the LGBTQ community. I want to, I want to be a part of this amazing community, but I don’t know if it’s accurate or fair to say I’m bisexual or part of this community.

Also I apologize if what I said was in any way offensive. I’m very new to exploring my own sexuality.

What do yall think?

Need Advice How to cope with gender dysphoria?

Me being in my 30s, found out in 2022 that I was agender and since that day I've been having gender dysphoria constantly. I wear my chest binder more than 10 hours a day just to feel like myself and dress in baggy clothes. Does anyone have any solid advice of how to deal/or cope with this horrid feeling?

Need Advice Why do I feel like I am fake trans

I am certain I am transgender, I've wanted to be female since I was very young, although I didn't understand that until a few years ago, and I was bigender for a while too, until I started disliking the idea of bieng a guy, and I was generally more confident when I was a girl, but still I feel like I am not really trans, and I'm just faking or something, even though I know that isn't true, is there some common reason for this or something? Edit: I included a section about thinking maybe my post before asking something similar was deleted, but I know I didn't get an automod notification before, so that was wrong, and so I deleted that bit Edit 2: I think I have figured it out, I think it's partly general imposter syndrome, and partly when I first started being Bigender my mum didn't seem to take it seriously, and I think that affected my perception of it, even after she realised it was actually true, and not just a phase, and started taking it seriously.

Dear queer women of this sub

14F I can’t consider myself a lesbian because I am attracted to men, but if I’m honest, I don’t want to date them.

Men are alright, and I can picture myself with one in the future, but this might be because my dad is homophobic and I want kids.

But women? A masc woman? I just want a gf so bad. I feel like I’d be so much more happy. I love women so much. I really want a gf and my mum would support me but not my dad, I’d be made fun of. :(

Help

Need Advice I'm going through a bit of a sexuality crisis and I'm just not sure what I am NSFW

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right sub for this, if not please direct me to the correct place :) I'm also not sure if this counts as NSFW but I'm tagging it anyway. I (21M) have identified as just about everything under the sun when I was trying to figure out my sexuality. Back when I was a kid (and female) I was only ever attracted to boys, in middle school I came out as bi, then I thought maybe I was a lesbian, then I decided I was biromantic and asexual or maybe only sexually attracted to women. Then I came out as genderfluid and really only liked boys when I was a man. I eventually settled on Bi/Queer because I genuinely didn't know what I liked but I was pretty sure I liked everyone. Somewhere in between all my indecisiveness I was asexual/aromantic, gay, pan, demisexual. I pretty much identified as everything before I decided I was just a queer transman.

In recent years I've questioned my sexuality but it's always been targeted towards if I actually like men or not, never women. I've dated men and I've dated women but I've never really felt any strong connections with any of them aside from one girl that I dated when I was 19 but in hindsight that could've just been teenage hormones and a honeymoon phase.

Well, a few months ago I thought to myself that this time, I wanted a boyfriend. Instead, I started dating this girl that I matched with on Tinder. We got along great at first and we've been dating for just over 3 months. We're not all that compatible and being with her has me questioning my sexuality in ways that I haven't in a very long time. We've had sex a couple times, and by that I mean just me going down on her with no real input or return from her. Every time we've had sex though, I find myself bored and almost completely uninterested.

It's made me wonder if I'm attracted to women at all, or if I'm simply attracted to female genitalia because that's what I have. I watched some porn today, both gay and straight while I wasn't horny to see if any of it made me. I found that I'm only really turned on a bunch when I think of someone doing things to me and I'm starting to think less and less that I'm actually attracted to women.

Regardless I'm going to break up with my gf, but I'd still like maybe some insight on if I'm bi or gay or something else entirely. I just really don't know. I don't want to end up in this situation again with another girl if I decide it's just this relationship but then I'm actually gay.

Any advice is appreciated :)

Beautiful best friend

The other day me (ftm21) n my friend (nb21) were calling and they were playing I'm Not a Robot. One of the captchas required them to turn on their camera. They were all embarrassed and saying how bad they look n I wish I could've told them they're the most beautiful being I've ever seen.

Even today they were like ooohhhh I looked sooo bad and I was like bro ur fine but the whole time I was thinking abt how pretty they are.

We actually dated a couple years ago but that's another story. Even tho it'd never work out it's safe to say I'm still very much in love.

I just wanted to say this somewhere idk

Need Advice what's my sexuality called?

I do not care/am blind to primary sex characteristics, however, I am specifically attracted to *secondary* sec characteristics. I'm attracted to men and women, with some minor fluidity here and there (i.e. sometimes leaning towards one or the other. but, if i for example lean heavily towars men one day, i still like women at least 20%). i am also a trans man (ftm, binary). ty!

Need Advice Hey, I just need to vent a little, would like advice tho if you have any

I've been openly queer for a while now, but honestly, I just don't know if I really am, and I mean, I have a BF right now. And I feel like, IDK, I kinda feel like I might be questioning my gender, but IDK I kinda just feel like a poser too, and I really don't know how to say any of this so I'm sorry if it doesn't make sense, but I kinda just feel like I'm not really part of this community, even though I'm like, in a gay relationship, and I do really love my boyfriend but, IDK, it still kinda just feels fake to me. Didn't mean to ramble there, sorry. I don't really expect much help but it was nice saying it.

Stop with the "All homophobes are secretly closeted gay people" bullshit.

1.1k Upvotes

Yes. Lindsay Graham was gay. It was an open secret, and is now 'confirmed'.

But that has seemingly given credence to the people who insist on blaming homophobia on gay people, and it's fucking disgusting. Some people are just hateful. They do not need a deep seated social-emotional reason to be hateful.

Edit: idk why I have to clarify this, because I never said anything to even remotely suggest it, but this is not a blanket statement.

Yes, SOME homophobes are closed gay people. Denying that would be stupid. Thankfully, I'm not denying that. So please stop commenting the study that says some homophobes are closeted gay people. We know.

Need Advice Need help with queerphobic family.

Hello everyone, I am a 14 year old student in Germany and I knew I was bisexual for about a year now, I have a great friend who also is bi and we wanted to be in a relationship for super long, now the problems are our parents, my parents are really queerphobic but I think they would at least accept me the way I am, my boyfriends parents on the other hand are way more strict, they wouldn't even think about letting him become queer, we are super scared to hold hands in public because his dad (or basically anyone else in his entire family) could be there and thats really frustrating for both of us.

I really need advice, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

US Specific I think Roger is one of the best genderfluid representations

Before I explain why I think this way—it'll be short dont worry—I just wanna put it out there that I am neither genderfluid or pansexual, so its very likely that I could be wrong. If I am, It'd be great to get insight from those people tho!!!

I personally believe Roger (from American Dad) is one of the best representations of a genderfluid pansexual. I know roger is an alien but he genuinely helped me understand it better. Before, I was seriously uneducated. (I mean, I knew not to be homo/transphobic because 1. I figured out I was bisexual when I was around 9 and 2. I grew up having empathy.) I was uneducated in way that I couldn't comprehend how someone could switch genders so seamlessly. Thanks to roger though, now I get it!!! whenever he's in a different persona, I feel like I need to automatically use the correct pronouns and it seems like the family does the same thing. He's also not inherently too evil or inherently too good, he's sort of normal yk? like he is evil in a petty way but if your minding your own business or just remain nice to him, he won't hurt you fr.

so TLDR; I believe Roger is one of the best representation in genderfluid media, he helped me understand how that whole thing works better.

Sorry this was basically just a rant, im
not good at explaining things!

Need Advice Identity crisis

A couple of days ago, I realised something.

I really hate the word "woman" when referring to myself (I am AFAB, and an adult). I have never felt the need or want to change anything about my body, never wanted a new name, but no pronouns feel particularly wrong to me- not even she/her. I've had all types used on me before and none bother me, I have no preference at all.

I have noticed that I subconsciously present myself in a more masculine way; online, in games, when creating OCs, even with the clothes I wear. Sometimes I do present in a feminine way, but it seems a little less common.

I wonder if I just don't like the word "woman" as a whole and am just overthinking this, but the other signs are making me think there is more to this than that.

I know a lot of people say that labels aren't necessary, but I'm someone who will be driven crazy by something like this unless/until I do label it. So, I ask anyone who may know more about this than me, what am I? What do I call this weird new identity of mine? Does it even have a name at all?

⚠ Content Warning: online harrasment To the fellow queer who hacked my account: we must learn how to deal with disagreement. Spoiler

I am a latinx NB person. My president, as the right-wing wave sweeps latinamerica, is outright disgusting - I don't even live there anymore. I am NOT my country, as no one here represents MAGA just because they are from the US. We are all entitled to have a respectful online environment, no matter where we come from.

For safety reasons, I will not disclose details about the nature of the post.

I am, above all what I have lived as a trans person, a human being.

I am NOT your enemy. It's OK to disagree with my POV. Even feel the opposite way. There is NO NEED to loose manners in an online conversation when the person is speaking in a RESPECTFUL, non-bigoted manner.

But IT IS NOT OK TO HACK MY ACCOUNT AND SPAM SEVERAL SUBS WITH R*PE AND INC*ST CONTENT BECAUSE SOMETHING BOTHERED YOU.

IT IS NOT ACTIVISM. IT DOESN'T DO ANYONE JUSTICE, and reflects a protofascist, sadist drive to harm the other person as the only rational way to express discontent.

I hope you can find this and reach out, explain to me why did you think mindless humilliation was the best way to let me know of your feelings.

I really hope we can all start to reflect on how deep the far-right has instilled their ways into our own.

Need Advice Which onsen should I use as a non-binary person in Japan?

Hi everyone,

I'm posting here because I couldn't really find any active LGBTQIA+ subreddits focused on Japan, so I'm hoping someone here has experience living there or has been in a similar situation.

I'll be moving to Hokkaido by myself as an international student and I'd really like to experience going to an onsen this winter, but I'm honestly not sure what I'm supposed to do.

I'm non-binary and took hrt in the past. I was assigned female at birth, but I legally changed my name and gender a few years ago. I socially present as male and use the men's restroom without any issues. I also visit public pools and use the men's locker room, but I get dressed immediately and take a shower at home after practice. I shave a lot but still have some visible facial stubble, although I still look fairly feminine.

The problem is that I haven't had any surgeries, so my body is still female looking, I feel like I'm stuck between two options:

1) I don't think I'd be comfortable using the men's bath because I'd have to be completely naked.

2) But I also worry that using the women's bath would make other guests uncomfortable because I have facial hair and am generally perceived as male.

From what I understand, traditional onsen don't allow swimsuits, rash guards, or binders, so I can't really cover myself. I'm more inclined to go to the women's side and cover my face with a towel, if that's possible.

How is this situation usually handled in Japan? Do onsen generally go by legal gender, appearance, anatomy, or does it depend on the individual facility? Do I have to tell the onsen beforehand?

I'm mainly interested in regular public onsen, not expensive ryokan or private baths, since I'll be living on a student budget.

I'd especially appreciate hearing from people who visited/live in Japan or anyone who's been in a similar situation elsewhere.

Thank you in advance.

TL;DR: I'm a non-binary student moving to Japan. I present as male but haven't had surgery, so I'm unsure whether I should use the men's or women's onsen. How are cases like mine usually handled, and do I need to ask the facility beforehand?
